My fiance is from Peru but since he was 16 has lived in 3 different cities(his father was in the military). Right now he is living in Lima. My concern is he is now working on the packet 4 and our interview is Oct. 10th. Does he have to travel to Arequipa and Moquegua to get the police records that the Embassy requires or can he get them all in Lima??
He needs the police certificate from Aranburu in Lima. Also court and jail records (seems odd since if you have no police record, I would assume no jail record). I am attempting to attach a link below. My fiance is from Peru but currently living in Spain - SO much more complicated! You have it easy! It only takes a few days.

For those of us still waiting, it can't be that much longer. They are running out of files to chose from. August approvals are ahead of July approvals. Let's hope it will be this week!

JULY 2009 VSC Filers - We support you!
I want some more NOA2 approvals for July VSC '09 filers and I want 'em now!
I think I can agree with that more - seeing as you already have yours - lucky duck!

Thanks for the discussion everyone!
My fiance and I are both minimalists- we aren't planning anything big at all.
If we do get married in Hawaii, it will be essentially the two of us- and our parents.
The only wedding specific thing we will do is to set up a simple ceremony (on the beach?) with a justice of the peace.
After that the 6 of us will have a nice dinner somewhere or something to that tune. That would really be the extent of it Etc...
From there the three groups of two will split up and do whatever they want to do the rest of the time we are in Hawaii... our parents won't be able to communicate with each other without one of the two of us there translating- and we don't really want to spend our 'honeymoon' with our parents...
Eventually we will have a reception back on the mainland so that friends and family can attend.
I would never book anything before the NOA2- but I am thinking Japan's consulates being relatively friendly from what I've read it would be reasonably safe to start thinking about booking hotels/ flights once we have a final interview date in place...
But maybe we'll just have to go the Civil route first here and play it safe. I don't know!
I think another deciding factor (since you don't want a big lavish affair that requires lots of planning anyway), is if your fiance is going to want to work/travel as soon as she arrives. Doing a quickie immediately after she arrives allows to file all of the paperwork immediately. We are going quickie courthouse at first because my fiance will go crazy spending 3 months with nothing to do (most states won't allow to get driver's licenses or anything until after AOS). But I also want a lot of friends and family from out of state, and his uncle is coming from Spain. Quickie courthouse doesn't have to change any of your other plans. You can already have another planned just 3 months later if you wish, it gets the paperwork started sooner.

Get married in Peru! It's cheaper, and family from both sides can attend. It is extremely difficult to get a tourist visa from Peru. My fiance is from there (now living in Spain). I also have a friend whose now husband could not get one, despite being from a wealthy family. We will be getting married here in the U.S., but I am second guessing that decision now since none of his family will be able to attend. We are going to have a celebration in Peru after he is allowed to travel again, but obviously not the same. Good luck! Hopefully she can get a tourist visa after marriage. If you go K-1, she can only enter that one time, so that is a lot of time and money for her to enter the U.S. only the one time, since you do not intend to live here.

I scanned in everything, photos, boarding passes, passport, and labeled everything below each item. Date, location, abbreviation and city/country of the airport on boarding passes, the description of the passport stamp in the upper right quadrant of page 18, dates/locations and monument of photos,...but everything, then entire packet was on 8.5 X 11. I printed it all at Fed Ex/Kinkos for higher quality copies that what I could do at home. We have the originals to show for the interview if necessary. I was only thinking that would make it more difficult for something to slip away and get lost if it was all on paper, and the same size paper. The only exception was our passport photos in the labeled plastic baggies. Good Luck!

Hello everybody my fiancé has started to panic because we were originally under the impression that we send the initial |-129F package to the Vermont Service Centre. She lives in Texas, now she's started reading other conflicting information from other websites which direct us to send it to the Texas Service Centre, so if someone could give us some peace of mind and clarification as to where we send it, that would be much appreciated.
JackAndWhitney
Texas does not do 1-129F's right now, so what you are reading other places is either old info or just plain wrong.
Thank you for the quick response, so Vermont Service Centre it is?
Yes

Yay! Good news!
Another fellow from June filers got his NOA2!!!
Sorry, it's a March filer... but anyway! yay!
Did you see Igors List?
They approved a June 24th!!
Its happening!!!
Soon we are going to see someone here get thiers!!
I just looked at Igor's list and a VSC couple who's NOA1 dated in AUGUST 2009 was approved ...... huh??????
Trying to keep positive but it kinda seems like us CSC'ers are getting the shaft because VSC was behind and CSC is helping them out...... JMHO (of course)
I am however, VERY happy for the approved couples!!!! Keep those files moving!!
I totally thought there had to be a mistake or maybe you misread ...but it appears you are right! An august filer got approved?!?!!? what??????????? approval in 50 days?!?!?!!?!?!?!?
ok now i'm depressed.
<---that's how I feel - that's what this process is doing to me.
Ignore the anomalies, they are likely expedited cases (military)

I have not attempted to contact the Embassy in Lima. I wonder if that would help. It won't hurt to try, but I do not know if they would be able to advise us on what to do in this situation since it is really the Peruvian Government that we can not get assistance from.

Anyone, anyone, lived in Peru, but not currently, getting their police certs from Peru??? I REALLY hope he doesn't have to fly there to get them.
-
I don't want to post in any specific forum b/c I am attempting to direct it toward Peruvian Citizens/past residents that lived in ANY other country except Peru, and how were they able to obtain their police certs. We have not had any luck with his sister trying to obtain the correct papers in Lima for the request (she just flew to Spain and we had hoped she would have the fingerprint chart and other necessary forms to bring). His sister was told only he can request the forms he needs to fill out. The Peruvian Consulate in Madrid told him he needs to request them from the police in Lima, that they have nothing to do with it. From the directions, he should have been able to obtain them without travelling there, now we are running out of time to get them and are not getting any help.
Anyone out there who has gotten their police certs from Peru without setting foot back in Peru??? From ANY other country?

Police Records
Police records (Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales) are available to applicants age 16 and over, and are issued on green paper with the heading "Policia Nacional del Peru, Division de Identificacion, Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales". The applicant's photo is attached to the certificate. Applicants without criminal records will have "No Registra Antecedentes" printed on the form. A negative certificate does not necessarily mean the subject has no police record, since police records may be deleted upon completion of sentence. A police record may be issued to residents or non-residents upon application to Policia de Investigaciones del Peru. Division de Identificacion, Av. Aramburu No. 550, Lima 34, Lima. The applicant must first request a fingerprint chart (ficha de canje internacional) and provide one photo. Processing time is normally three days. There is a small fee.
Applicants who are not resident in Peru may obtain police records by having a representative pick up the fingerprint chart and required forms in Peru, and then the applicant must have these documents certified by a Peruvian Consulate and the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before making the request.
http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3649.html
His sister went there, and was told he needed to make the request himself. At the Consulate in Madrid, they told him he needs to travel to Peru. I do not know if someone is not saying the correct thing when they are asking, either his sister in Lima or himself when he went to the Consulate for assistance. We waited until now to get a new Police Cert because they are only valid for 3 months. Thinking it was a simple request. It is not seeming so simple, both agencies are saying that he needs to travel there. It did not seem the case when reading how to obtain them earlier, and now I am worried because we will be needing them soon, and none of the agencies have been of assistance as of yet.
-
Congrats on the Approval. Happy Birthday week for me Hopefully that will mean more good news!
-
I am hoping I am able to find someone who has been able to obtain the police certs for Peru without going to Peru.
My fiance is a Peruvian Citizen, currently living in Spain. We are hopefully soon approaching the consular stage of our fiance visa journey. Is there anyone out there who has been able to obtain their police certs from Peru, without actually travelling to Peru?
I was thinking that the Peruvian Consulate in Madrid could take his official fingerprints and send them, or tell him to go the Spanish Police and have them send them to Peru.
I am hoping someone has experience of getting the Peruvian Police Certs, and the way that we can obtain them without having to have him fly halfway across the globe to obtain them.
(He does have family there, so if we are allowed to have the Peruvian Consulate/Spanish Police take his fingerprints and mail to Peru, his family can retrieve the completed police certs and mail to him in Spain)...

Good morning July '09 Filing family.
Every now and then I go to the USCIS website and look up our case status thinking that our file was randomly picked and there is a note saying an RFE is on the way or it has been approved but just the same NOA1 date. Not sure why I do it. The other part of my brain then says, seriously think December. But I think I like the drama - it is like a little game show. Still looks like VSC is plugging along and May & June still have lower volumes than previous months. All good stuff.
On another note, back from my trip and had a great time. Was thinking about all of you though and our exciting adventure together.
Also how fortunate we all are to have found true love. 2010 is going to be a wonderful year for all of us.
I have been checking on occasion too. Last night was the 1 year anniversary of the day we met. We spent 4 hours on the computer after I got home from work to 'celebrate', and relive our memories of our first hours together.
While checking our # on Igor's list yesterday, I have a screen shot, that we were #365 on our 365th (1 year) day of knowing each other! I hope that means good luck - I liked the coincidence that that happened on our 1 year anniversary!
Take Care everyone!

Thanks for the responses Doing 2 ceremonies sounds like a pretty good idea, not very traditional though, I'll have to see what my fiancee thinks about that...
Just thought of another question re: visa dates - do you have to be married within the validity of the visa, or could you arrive on the last day of its validity and get married 89 days after the K-1 expired? I'm not suggesting I would cut it that fine, just curious.
There is nothing traditional about a K-1 anyway.
That was my thought exactly! I have 'embraced' that nothing will be traditional, but all a part of our story
-
Why not do what many of us are doing? 2! One quick courthouse ceremony, and then plan a larger more traditional wedding later (that you can take the time and plan together).
-
Thank you for your replies. By consular forum, was it moved to the information for the Embassy in Spain? I did not ask there only because there are so very few people there, and I can't answer my own question.

Hello! I qualify to bring my fiance here by my income level. For the Affidavit of Support, I was going to list out the amount in my bank/investment accounts, so that I am not excluding anything (lying). It would be difficult to get the recent signed statements from the investment accounts (everything is done online), and I really don't want to use this anyway. Is it OK if I qualify on income alone to have my fiance only bring my tax transcripts, recent paystubs, letter from employer (and the bank acct info only mentioned in the total, but no proof, because it is not really necessary). It would be relatively easy for me to go to the bank where my checking account is located, but there is really not much money to speak of there, so it is somewhat useless. What is advised?
Thank you much!

Thanks, found my time line. Now want to know what is adjudicated. Is that the interview?
Mike
You`re welcome!
Ohhh no, I think that it is not an interview.. I think it is NOA2!
Somebody correct me if I am wrong
It's the NOA2. Hopefully this pace keeps up, and we can catch up to CSC. WHY, WHY, WHY was I forced to send the app to VSC?

Good morning or evening to my July '09 filing family.
Have a great upcoming weekend.
Have a great trip! Stay in touch while you are gone if you can!

My fiance is Peruvian but is living in Spain legally. He DID apply for the tourist visa last November? (I don't remember exactly, last fall) in Spain, they took the money and the visa was denied. I have since found out from another woman that they had applied 3 times for the tourist visa, and all were denied, they when they finally applied for the fiance visa, that was approved. It took me many more months and 2 more long visits together before we decided to apply for the fiance visa. We decided to go for the fiance visa before my last visit there. While I was in Spain this last time he also surprised me with a ring. I do still worry about him moving here without ever having been to the US, but he does a good job at reassuring me.
Also, how would you go about moving to Italy? I only ask b/c we were thinking the same thing about me going to Spain, but didn't think it was possible in the near future (not until after he became a citizen and we got married)...
-
I am jealous too! This will be the longest I've been apart from Victor. I've used much too much vacation already this year, I only have a little left (going in November for his birthday). I can't believe I have 2.5 more months to wait. The last few visits have all been 2-2.5 months apart, and now June-Nov 4.5 - twice as long. I know, I need to be thankful for all the times I HAVE seen him. I'm still jealous though, and busy scrutinizing the speed of processing.
