  1. The AP is good for multiple entries & you do not need to specify travel dates when filing for an AP as part of your AOS. The way AOS processing has gone in the past year I don't think you will have too much time pass between receipt of your AP and receipt of your GC.

Thank you, the example form even shows specific dates, do I just fill in 'unknown'? or is it better to put an estimated date? He is arriving Monday, and I am double triple checking everything, SS office Tuesday morning, trying to get everything done quickly so he can WORK and travel ASAP (and not go crazy from boredom!).

  2. Hello! We will soon be applying for AP with the AOS. My fiance has family in both Peru and Spain, and I would also like to maybe go on a cruise if he gets his AP by the fall. Since we could potentially have multiple uses for several short trips (cruise, holidays with family). Is the AP valid for MULTIPLE entries into the US? What do I put on the form for the date expected to travel? We do not yet have exact dates needed, and if we didn't have the AP before September (to plan a cruise), it is unlikely we would use it before December (and maybe not even until Spring 2011 at that point depending on how work is going). Will it be valid long enough that he will have his Green Card before the AP expires? Thank You

  3. Work is work. Agreed. Especially when it pertains to the type of work you are applying. You could perhaps even put in July 2009-Feb 2010, arriving in the US, completing required forms and acquiring proper work authorization for the ability to work in the US, not in the jobs section, but noted below or on a cover letter? Just so there is no question as to why you have been 'slacking'

  4. I don't think it will do anything to your chances of the K-1. The tourist visa is likely to get denied again (especially with intent to visit boyfriend/fiance). It's up to you if you don't mind losing the money on applying for the tourist visa. We applied for the fiance visa 6 months after his tourist visa denial. There was no problems (other than feeling like schmucks for throwing away the money on the tourist visa)...

  5. Not just the ATM receipts (because those are usually generic), but the monthly bank statement saying you withdrew money in Colombia. (and cell phone detailed billing if you can make a call or two while in colombia) We used Yahoo voice/webcam to talk computer to computer when we were apart. It logged the time we were on the voice calls every night. So I had a log of the hours we used the voice chat on yahoo.

  6. You have a lot for the initial submittal, a few photos in front of different landmarks too :) For later on, when you need the proof (are you visiting again before interview?) I purposely took money out of ATMs as soon as I arrived in my fiance's city, and used my credit card and cell phone abroad too (it was expensive, but I had calls from my cell in Atlanta, and then 8 hours later from Spain). For the initial submittal, we didn't send much, only passport stamps, boarding passes and a few photos. He had a TON of the ongoing relationship stuff for the interview (yes, I always stayed with him too, so no hotel receipts). Start saving your ongoing relationship evidence (the occasional card mailed too). The initial submittal is only proving you have met in person. Ongoing relationship is mostly for the interview, and to show that you are continuing the relationship after initial submittal.

    All..

Maybe my paranoia is getting the best of me or I have a real concern about not being more aware of the records I needed to keep. But I have a couple of questions about proving our on-going relationship..

1st, a little of my story.. I met my fiance in Nov 2006, we started talking but really didn't start a serious relationship for some time early 2008 (the relationship evolved slowly at first).. I've made numerous trips to Colombia since 2006. I proposed to her in May 2009.. She has also visited me three times while I was on a project in Trinidad & Tobago.. Her and I speak on the phone 5 or more times per day.. I have a Vonage phone at the apartment in Medellin Colombia, where she calls me and of course I call her either at the Vonage Line, her regular apartment line or her cell phone.

My proof I've rounded up is:

    Passport Stamps

A number of photos from My trips

EMAILs from a Travel Agency showing Confirmation of Ticket Purchases

I only have my boarding pass from My most recent trip - Return Trip only

I only have my boarding pass from My Thanksgiving 2009 trip - Return Trip only

I can pull Phone Call Records from the Vonage Line at her apartment

I also have a vonage Softphone which I can pull Record for.

Numerous (Piles) Credit Card Receipts from Grocery Stores, Restuarants, Clothing Hardware for Repairs on the apartment..

Receipts of short term apartment rentals

    Receipt of Engagement Ring Purchase

    What i dont have...

Although we have some (few) email between each other, there aren't many... Since we began our relationship the majority of our contact has been to or from my cell phone.. My cell phone is paid by my employer so I don't get the call details.

I did not keep all my boading passes (But Passport stamps should overcome that - I Hope)...

Cell Service in Colombia is mostly prepaid so there is no Details of call she makes to me from her Cell Phone..

I havent stayed at a hotel in some time since I always stay at my fiancee's apartment.

    MY QUESTIONS

I am simply trying to find out if I have enough proof to get through the K1 Acceptance and the Visa Interview, or am I in Trouble because I don't have cell phone records or emails...

Can I change anything I am doing to improve my chances of Satisfying the need of proving the on-going relationship..

I realize since I've joined this forum, I should have kept better track of all my activities and the importance of doing so in effort to succeed, but am I really in bad shape or should I be ok?

You know, I would love to hear I'm in good shape, but tell me how it is..

  7. Hi All,

Just learned about this site. Wish I had known about it sooner. Already have received an NOA 2 and package from the consulate, so just a few questions( hope this is the right place to post.)

    1. I am a Canadian marrying an American. I have been to the US many, many times( we don't require visas). What should I write in the section which asks how many times I have visited the US?

    2. Do I need to send copies of the docs ( passport etc.) along with the forms?

    3. The Medical exam info says I have to provide the date of the interview when I call for an app't, but I don't get my interview date until I send all the required forms back including the checklist saying that I have made my app't for the medical. Any advice?

    Thanks so much.

It is best to wait as late as possible to do your medical. Once you arrive in the US and apply for AOS, as long as your medical is less than 1 year old, you do not have to do another full medical. As wait times for interviews in Canada is quite long, no need to do this now. Wait until you have your interview date to schedule your medical. Again, the Canada forum will help give you better guidance :)

  8. My US fiance is here in the UK with me until June as a visitor. Is it possible for us to apply for the K1 visa whilst she is here or does she have to be in the U.S to apply or would it be possible for someone to send it for us if we sent it to them first?

    Thanks

    Andy and Alicia

You both can send it from the UK to the designated service center in the US (since your fiancee is only visiting, not living in the UK). or you could send the complete package to someone in the US to mail, but that would be adding an extra step. One thing, you need a check or money order in dollars to submit. The receipt notice will be sent to the home address, but it's not necessary for the USC to retrieve it. If you get an RFE, could someone send it to you?

Otherwise, yes, you could marry and file CR-1 after.

  9. 1. You are applying using her Chile address? then yes, it is likely that you would have your interview before she finishes in August, could she remain in Chile for awhile after if the process isn't finished yet? It's likely to be finished in time, but a maybe a little borderline, especially since we don't know what kind of affect the situation in Haiti is going to bring in coming month to timelines. Changing consulates midstream could be a time waster, as one person recently found. Perhaps you could wait a couple of months (since you need to wait on signed forms anyway), and apply using her permanent address in Colombia? Perhaps list an addendum to G-325 that the Chilean address is current school address while Colombian address is permanent address, and include in the cover letter a statement requesting the packet be forwarded to Columbia. Just a thought. Unless she can for certain stay in Chili longer than her school year.

    2. signatures required

  10. I have us greencard and i want to bringing my girlfriends to us,which way a better one maried her in her country when i just have a greencard or wait for my citizen?

or do I have another solution?

    thanks

You can not bring your girlfriend to the US if you are a greencard holder. You can bring your fiance or wife to the US after you become a US Citizen.

  11. Hi,

I havent filed my I-129F but I am wondering what documents do I (alien fiance) need to prepare for the interview as I will be going to USA for a few months on the visa waiver program when the I-129F is filed. I know I have to have proof of relationship, police cert, medical (does this have to be within a certain timeframe?). Just would like to know is there any other things I should be getting ready?

You need to know names and addresses of your schools, your employment, and your homes (see DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, and DS-230). Make certain you know the answers to all of those questions, and if not, start researching now. Ongoing relationship proof (proof between initial submittal and interview), the more you have, the better. As the previous poster mentioned, your passport, birth certificate, also more US sized passport photos. Your medical can be scheduled after you receive your instructions. Your medical appointment can be just a day or two before the interview. You can look at required vaccines for AOS, it is possible they are less expensive (or free) in your native country (not here). There are a couple of vaccines that need multiple doses, you can begin those and get the record of it if you don't already have it. I can't think of anything else at the moment.

  12. Hello all November files.

I know everyone must be getting frustrated with the Vermont Service Center so I thought it would be good to have a forum to just talk about how everyone is dealing with the stress and worry of being passed over for the December filers. I know that my fiancee and I are getting pretty stressed and upset about it. Or if anyone has any ideas on what the problem could be or if there is a way to solve it this may also be a good place.

    Thanks all. :)

:star: Patience, yours is coming. Looking at the most recent approvals on Igor's list, the MAJORITY are from the end of October. There will be people who get theirs faster than you, and others that get theirs slower. From NOA2 and after time will fly getting everything ready for the interview. Try not to stress over what you can not control.

  13. The suggestion to make two complete copies of the package does not mean that you should be able to reconstruct copies from documents you still have. It means you should photocopy every page in the package before sending it - twice. As previously mentioned, this might be useful if USCIS loses a document or piece of evidence. A more important reason is so both petitioner and beneficiary will know exactly what was submitted. Many petitioners have discovered errors in material information submitted with the petition, and were able to correct that information with the documents submitted at the interview, or at least they were prepared to address the errors because they knew about them. You can't do this if you don't have a copy of the actual documents you submitted. The beneficiary should have a complete copy because the consular officer can pull questions from the evidence submitted with the petition. If the beneficiary doesn't know precisely what was submitted, then they could be blind sided with questions they didn't expect at the interview, or make a statement that directly conflicts with the evidence.

Except for forms that require signatures, USCIS doesn't require original documents. They will accept photocopies. The consular officer can ask to see the original copy of any document sent with the petition. They may do this, for example, if they want to determine if the submitted copy was tampered with or if something in the submitted copy is not entirely legible. This means that the consular officer could ask to see the original copy of the petitioner's birth certificate if a copy of that birth certificate was submitted with the petition, even though the petitioner's birth certificate is not technically a required document at the interview. It's not likely they would ask to see another copy of the petitioner's birth certificate if it's obvious that the document submitted with the petition is an original certified copy.

When I took my petition package to a local mail boxes store to send to USCIS, I paid to have them make two complete photocopies of the entire package, including double sided copies of documents that had stuff on both sides. In addition, before I took the petition to the store, I made a lo-res 200 DPI scan of the entire package, backed it up on a CD-R, and put it in my "important documents" file. There were several times during the process when it was very useful to be able to refer to those copies.

Excellent advice as always! I had scanned in every piece of evidence and could reproduce a duplicate copy if requested. Good point on if there were errors (thankfully we didn't have any). My fiance did have a paper copy, and I also gave him a jump drive with the entire package on the drive, in the event he needed yet another copy (and I had it backed up as well). None of our initial petition was even looked at at the interview (I know that we had an easier consulate). He did submit new 'proofs' at the interview as nearly 6 months had passed since our filing. We did go over everything submitted in our petition before his interview.

  14. Just another female opinion. Only you can determine if it is time to say goodbye. Once a cheater is not always a cheater. Often times, yes, but often times no. The fact that she told the truth to you says something. The thing that she needs to realize though, is that she has hurt you tremendously, SHE needs to do what you need her to for you to trust her again. It does take time to build the trust again. You need to see that SHE is making a TREMENDOUS effort to reconcile things. It seems selfish that she is upset by this request. On a regular ongoing basis, I would NEVER be with a guy that told me I could not go to clubs. The rules change drastically when infidelity is involved. SHE is now the one that needs to do what you need her to do to gain your trust again (within reason). I think requesting she not frequent the clubs now is not unreasonable. It's understandable, you associate the clubs with this act of infidelity. It seems selfish on her part to not consider your feelings when it is she that did wrong. It's up to HER to prove she can be trusted again, and she needs to put your mind at ease that this will not happen again. Added complexity is that you are still not together, so will you wonder if she does not answer the phone at night that she is at a club? The distance makes it extremely difficult circumstance. Best of luck to you.

  15. Okay so some questions..

I have the letter from Montreal asking me for DS-230, DS-160, DS-156, DS156K, Confirmation Receipt of DS-160, and the checklist.

Do I send them the checklist AND all of the above forms?

Do I send in the evidence of support as DS-156K seems to want attached to it?

Does anyone have an interview time yet for Montreal? Is it really 4-6 months after they receive it?

You can send in copies of all your forms with the checklist, that way there is no question you have finished everything. Always better to send too much!
