  1. Victor's interview was December 30th. He went without his police paper from Peru, because it became lost in the mail. He brought an old copy from right before he moved to Spain 2+ years ago, and the Spanish one. Thankfully they told him just to get the Peru police paper as soon as possible. His sister was obtaining another copy to send when the first one arrived in Spain (nearly 2 months later). Hopefully within the next couple of weeks he will finally have visa in hand!

  2. Yeah i think you need to explain that one to me cause you got me on that one....

    The Example:

    United States Department of Homeland Security

    U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

    (USCIS service center address)

    OR when submitting for interview

    United States Department of State

    United States Consulate, [name of country where Embassy is located]

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The initial letters (2) (one for petitioner and one for beneficiary) for the initial I-129F filing, should have either the Vermont or California address (depending on where you are sending your file). Later, for the interview in the foreign country, it is suggested that you both write and sign letters identical to the first 2 sent with the initial filing. The only change would be a much more recent date (near the time of the interview), and these would now be addressed to the Consulate in the foreign country.
    4 letters total. 1 from each of you both times.
  3. Victor's interview is scheduled for February 3rd. Are you kidding me? FEBRUARY?
    OMG that's horrible. At least he won't delayyou with having to finish up stuff there though! He can get it all handled in the next 2 months. :D
    We were concerned because his police paper from Peru expires in December, and it was SUCH an ordeal to get it "quickly". Quickly was nearly 3 months. I called the Embassy in Madrid today and his interview is now December 30th! That saves 5 weeks. So nice that they changed it for us. I don't think it would have been an issue to be a little bit expired, I think they take them for 6 months or a year from issuance? Regardless of the expiration date on the paper. I am just happy he will have it before the end of the year.
    I hope everyone else gets their interview dates soon.
  4. Did he get his medical done and sent in his checklist stating he has all the papers ready?
    I was told to wait to schedule the medical until after he has an interview date because the medical is scheduled very quickly there, and the interview dates are usually given several weeks in the future (from recent experience with Madrid Embassy). That is also who mentioned some sort of checklist that should have been in the packet. He has no checklist. I have now been searching and found this DS-2001 form. I thought maybe that was what should have been in his packet. I am thinking there must have been something missing. I don't know Spanish that well, but I do not recall a checklist with a place for a signature, and I know there was not the DS-2001 form. I did write down all the DS... documents mentioned in his packet before I left. The papers we received were in Spanish, they did not look like the official forms on the USCIS website at all. The instructions also included reference to an invalid website for further information (I found the website through VJ instead). The website referenced included the word 'state' which is not actually in the address.
    The checklist you reference, is that different that this DS-2001? and if it is, can we get to a copy online to print ourselves and mail?
    thank you!
  5. My fiance received his packet 3 while I was in Madrid, the day before I left Madrid. I was able to look at the papers quickly (although strangely they were all in Spanish, so I didn't understand most of it). He had a soccer game that last day I was there, and we never made it to get a copy of the packet for me to take home. What a mistake. He mailed in his DS-230 (as he understood the only thing he needed to mail in advance).
    I called today since he has not heard anything since, and was told that the Madrid Embassy had received the DS-230, but they were waiting on something else from him before they could schedule an interview. She was not able to tell me what it is they are waiting for. He immediately printed the DS-230 again, along with DS-157, DS-156 and DS-156K(all the forms referenced in his instructions) and sent them out. (Also a photo copy of the I-134 packet I prepared for his interview).
    I am just now reading about a form called DS-2001. This is news to the both of us. Is this required for all embassies? I am asking about Spain in particular. After months on this site I only just now found a reference to this numbered form, I never saw it on the guides.
    After all we sent out today, is this one little paper all they need to schedule the interview?
  6. It sounds like everyone's journey is moving along. We couldn't figure out what we should have sent to the Embassy that we did not vs. what was for the interview, so he is printing EVERYTHING now and signing and sending it along, + a copy of the I-134 I completed and that supporting evidence. Hopefully after sending everything they will schedule him an interview. Fingers crossed. When I called today, they only told me they had the DS-230, but they were waiting for other papers, but couldn't tell me what according to their computer system.
    We'll see, hopefully this works!
  7. I have already completed the standard forms and cover letters. I'm about to submit.
    I should have enough evidence of meeting and ongoing relationship I would think.
    This is what I'm sending for Proof of Meeting and Ongoing Relationship:
    Letter Describing Relationship and In Person meeting
    Nine Photos of us together, dated with comments on where we were
    Copy of personal letter from her, expressing her love and talking about our future
    copy of fedex reciepts from two packages sent to her with letters and candy, etc
    copy of two reciepts when I sent her flowers
    Copy of AT&T Bills from the last 4 months showing, 272 calls to her, and 300 texts sent..daily. lol
    Yahoo screenshots of us in chat and some chat logs, about 20 pages
    Copies of Airplane tickets from first visit, taxi reciepts, hotel and food reciepts
    copies of tickets when she went on short trip with me
    Email from our wedding coordinator discussing future wedding plans when she arrives
    copy of Engagement Ring Reciept
    copy of tickets for my second upcoming visit for Christmas
    Everything is organized the best I know how. I think I should be set with the above for proof shouldn't I ?
    My girl is in the Philippies :) I wish she was here already :)
    n
    USCIS is not concerned about several items in your list
    Agreed, the remainder she can bring to the interview. You only need proof of having met for the petition. The ongoing relationship (including proofs dated after the initial submittal) are for the interview.
  8. I just got back from Spain. He just received his info from the Embassy (finally). We filled out the "DS-230" that they attached with his instructions. Air quotes because it is completely different than the one here on VJ. It is only 2 pages and does not ask many questions (and it's entirely in Spanish). It tells him to fill this form out entirely and send it in. So we did. Only now I'm looking at the DS-230 that is online here on VJ. It is 4 pages, he only received 2 pages. Did they forget to include the last 2 pages? Or will that be later? The whole thing was very confusing. The instructions said that he needed to go to a webpage for further instructions, only the website they list is invalid. So that is fabulous. I think I figured out what page they meant to reference from Google. They had added the word 'state' in the middle of the web address, making it invalid. Typing exactly what they referenced, without the word state, does point to fiance visa instructions. So, anyhow, I'm not feeling so confident in what they are sending him. It says also that forms DS-156K, 157, and 156 (with the barcode) need to be completed. It does not instruct when, where or how. So is he to wait until they send him these forms with a barcode on them? There aren't many filers from Spain on here, just wondering though if any of you are having such bad luck with instructions.
  9. Good luck everyone, heading across the lake in a couple of days for one last visit to Madrid before he arrives (or at least I am hoping!). Birthday celebrations for him next week. I was going to wait as long as possible to tell him to make it be a surprise, but I only lasted one day after booking the flight. I am looking forward to seeing him, and eating lots of desserts (his idea, not mine, I just go along with it)...really... :whistle:
    We are also going to go try to get to a gym that teaches the Les Mills classes over there. He wants to experience one of the classes I take every day (Body Step, Body Attack, Body Pump, Body Jam, RPM, and Flow)... Thinking I may try to find a day they have 2 or 3 in a row and do a marathon to see if he can keep up! I just did 4 in a row both Monday and Tuesday last week for the quarterly launch of the new music, so I am up for the challenge! :dance:
  10. Thanks Kitty but nope, no approvals came our way today. Its the end of the week now so we're not feeling very happy. Maybe something is seriously wrong? Do you think we would get much help calling to see whats happening with our case? And/or is it still too early to contact Russ' congressman? We're feeling the desperation now... its not fair! :angry:
    It can't hurt to contact the congressman. I did read one that got involved before the 5 months, and they got their approval. Now they are approving mostly September filers. It's possible there is a box buried that needs to be found! Good Luck, you will get it soon!
  11. A) Once you new the interview day
    B) After Interview
    C) Once Kiev had your filed
    D) Other
    E) After you received the passport with the visa
    I was planning to buy the ticket after I get the interview date. I'm thiking of buying a tiket departing from Kiev 15 days after the interview. What do you think???
    My vote is for E) After, as a just in case and since there are hefty fees to switch dates on the ticket afterwards. The airlines have been offering great discounted last minute fares (I don't know about from the Ukraine), but I keep finding that 3 weeks out seems to be the best time to buy anyway.
  12. quick question - maybe i'm missing something here ...or maybe i did it and i don't remember doing it...
    but i don't recall doing a letter of intent for the i-129f stage of the application that went to uscis.
    i know the embassy of my fiance's country asks for it so i'm preparing that ...but i don't think i included it as part of the app for i-129f?!?!
    what did i miss here?
    thank you.
    UH OH, yeah, you should have sent that in at the beginning.
  13. Hahaha, I hope you do too. It is so addictive! My fiance' was denied a student visa because when asked who he was going to live with, he told them his fiance. They scoffed at him (at the embassy) and told him that he needed to apply for a k-1. Since he was denied the student visa for that reason, he cannot get a visa waiver either and can't come to visit at all until this is resolved. I graduate in December and I really wanted him to be there. I can't go over there right now because I am out of vacation time at work and in school at night. So.. the uncertainty is just killing me. I need something I can control, so checking the numbers was almost therapeutic until I realized that we had seemingly been skipped. Good luck to you!
    Even after NOA2 be prepared for 2 months or more. You would be really, really lucky if he gets here before your graduation.
