  1. Ok i was just worried, i see some ppls timelines states that they recieved thier NOA1 only days after they mailed it in. It has been 12 days for me. Hope this is normal

Many are likely putting the date it is received based on when their checks or cashed, or you can see your case number on the back of the cancelled check, and look this up to get your date. You usually do not get the hard copy of your NOA1 until some time (a week or 2) after the date it was issued.

  2. Hello again!

As we're approching the final stage we're going through the last bits including whats expected at the interview. As my finance works two jobs she has sent me 6x paystubs from one employer, 4x paystubs from the other. We have letters from both employers stating what her salary is. We would include the W2 from 2009 however as she was in diffrent employment during the majority of 2009 which did not cover the poverty guidelines we have not included this. She is of course earning well beyond the guideline needed now, which is what the paystubs and letters show.. will this be enough evidence? Should we include the w2 regardless as this will contradict what she is currently earning?

I think many people's tax transcripts from previous years are not the same as what they are currently earning. I included the 3 prior years of tax transcripts, several paystubs (and I emailed the last one right before his interview), to show current weekly/YTD pay. Also the letter from my employer also stating what I earn each week. Send everything, especially since you have already listed previous job history already. The current stuff shows what you are currently earning.

  3. Forgive me if I missed it, I don't believe I saw an answer to the tax transcript question from the OP. Below is the link, the tax transcripts are free. I called the 1-800 number just selected that I wanted to receive my 1040, then it asked for what tax year. Then it asked if I needed to make another request, I did the same 3 times for the 3 years. You would want them for yourself and cosponsors. It took about a week only to receive them..

  4. My Russian fiance is currently having her birth certificate translated and notarized. The notary has an original stamp on the translated birth certificate. Can she send a copy of the notarized document or does it have to be the original document. Also, does she need to send a copy of the original birth certificate?

For the I-129F petition? Your timeline is not filled in. The foreign fiance's BC is not necessary for the initial I-129F filing (I did include a color photocopy front/back of my fiance's anyway). It is necessary for the interview. To the interview bring the originals & color copies (copy front and back of everything, even if it is blank).

Never send originals of anything. Bring originals of everything to interviews.

  5. If you're certain you'll have everything by the interview day, I would go ahead and send it in.

Yes, if you are certain (in person, not relying on the mail, etc). We did not send ours back in Spain until his sister in Peru had his Peruvian police paper in her hands (my fiance needed from both countries). Our interview was 5 weeks later. The paper had not yet arrived to him at the interview (yes, I told him to use DHL and he didn't listen, another story). He was approved pending receipt of the police paper. I was convinced it was lost, so his sister was in process of obtaining another copy of the request when the first arrived at his house a week after the interview. We have sent it to the Embassy, and now we are waiting, waiting, waiting. It's been 3 weeks and counting. I now wish we had waited until he had it in his hands, as we likely could have gotten a January interview (or maybe early February), and at least known when he would have his visa (in Spain you can pick it up next day), instead of this uncertain timeline we now have.

  6. Victor sent in his police paper from Peru about 3 weeks ago. They told him at his interview, that as soon as it arrived to them, it would be 7-10 days. We are still waiting...

We did call immediately after he sent it, they received it, they said it would only be a few days. Now neither of us has been able to get through to the Spanish Embassy (always busy the 4 hours each week they accept calls), and calling NVC or DOS here is jammed b/c of the incident in Haiti. It is just so frustrating not knowing what is going on now...

  7. We are in the same boat in Spain, they have had it 3 weeks and counting now. I am getting worried too, but am hoping he gets something in the mail this week. I can't call here in the US (the Haiti situation has the lines jammed), and the Spanish Embassy only accepts calls 2 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and those lines are always jammed. I hope we both have good news soon!

  8. Total of 4 letters of intent.

2 now (1 from you, 1 from your fiance, addressed to CA or VT, VT in your case).

2 dated close to the interview date (1 from you, 1 from your fiance, addressed to the Consulate address in the foreign country).

The letters now and later can be written the same, the difference being the date it is signed, and where it is addressed.

  9. I wouldn't worry too much. What country is your fiance from? She only needs a copy in the event that they lose something from your submittal along the way. It could be detrimental if you have little proof and are going through a difficult consulate. You will have new chat history long before then, and whatever other proofs you have. If you have a lot of other proof, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

  10. yes, credit card statements? My credit card company has a year worth of detailed billing online. I purposefully purchased things with my credit card in route )Atlanta) as well as in Madrid on my last couple of trips over there (after I filed too, of course!).

Also, cell phone bills? Again, they had a year worth of statements online. I did get a little sentimental when I saw the first calls I made to my fiance's cell after meeting him. The detail shows that I was in Spain, calling his Spanish cell phone (thankfully I was being too lazy to get a calling card!). Hopefully you were using your phone en route and also at your destinations together? My fiance gets lost easily, and twice I had to call him when I arrived at the airport in Madrid. A call from my cell to his, minutes after landing in his country. Why? because he is ALWAYS waiting in the wrong terminal!

I never did keep receipts either (I certainly do now), but there were other things we did have to show we were together (and of course, I had passport stamps, so mine was a little easier).

  11. For the I-129f:

Part B, question 9 - we've come to understand A# refers to alien registration number or something similar. It also is asked for on the G-325a form. I don't have one of these?

    NONE

Part A, question 10 - for a birth certificate, is there a specific format to fill this out? We have it written in the box as, "number, August xx, 19xx, City, KY" (though obviously with the information filled in :P) Is that the proper way to fill it out or are they looking for mm/dd/yyyy for the date or for the full state name instead of the abbreviation or does it not matter and I'm just overthinking it?

Question 10, if birth, the next is blank (refers to naturalization #)

Actually, that goes for any date they ask for where the form doesn't specify mm/dd/yyyy format.

Also, for any question that doesn't apply to us, do I type N/A or none or just leave those fields blank? I followed the guides exactly

Part B, question 18 - how much detail are they looking for here? We have it filled out as "We met online in early 2009. Began talking on the phone in September 2009. Met in for the first time in late October 2009 and were together in December 2009 and January 2010." which I feel is a little short but what sort of answers have you guys given in terms of detail?

We completed a separate page for this. For the answer to 18B: See I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18: Has your fiancé(e) met and seen you within the two-year period immediately preceding the filing of this petition?

I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18: Has your fiancé(e) met and seen you within the two-year period immediately preceding the filing of this petition?

was the title of the typed paper where we answered this question

    And for the G-325a:

For any questions asking for the City and Country, do I also add in the province or state or just City Name, Country Name? For example, for my date of birth I have it typed as Brantford, Canada. Would I leave it like that or change it to Brantford, ON, Canada or Brantford, Ontario, Canada?

We only used city and country

Similarly, for people familiar with writing American addresses, is it formally supposed to be written as US, United States or USA? We believe it's USA but just wanted to double check.

    That's what I used

The same question as above for the I-129f form, is there a specific way to write dates if it doesn't specify mm/dd/yyyy? I used mm/dd/yyyy (must have been that way in the guides)

Under fields that say "if none, so state" do I need to type "none" into every field or just the first one for each section? guides

"Applicant's last address outside of the United States of more than 1 year:" - this doesn't apply for Andy but for myself I'm a little unsure what to put here because my current address in Canada, I have lived at for less than a year but by the time this is processed it may hit the one-year mark. So should I write my current address in anticipation of that or write my address before that? I read that ? as if you have lived outside the US for more than a year, what is that last address. For us, it was a non-issue, he had been at the same address for more than a year anyway.

For the employment section, I'm having trouble fitting the full name as well as the address into that box. I know I could just print it out and handwrite the answers, but even then I feel like it's a small area to fit all of that information and it would be squeezed anyway. How have some of you guys filled out this part? Also, Andy works from home so should we just give the main office address for his company? Do they need a street address or just city/state? You can create a supplement form for this too if necessary. we used just cities. I used Main address for the large company I work for.

We've been having the same problem on the field for the date and place of previous marriage/termination of marriage. They're tiny fields. :(

"This form is submitted in connection with an application for:" would we check off "Status as Permanent Resident" or "Other" and write K1 Visa Application (or if not that, what should we write there? I-129f package?) Other I-129F Petition (from the guides)

Anyway, if you took the time to read and help us out, thank you so so much. I realize a lot of these are little things and may not actually matter but we just wanted to be sure - I've heard sometimes you need to be very, very specific with these forms and neither of us has done this before. :)

Edited to add: Also, for previous address/employment sections, under the month column, does it matter if we write, for example, Aug or 08? We followed the guides.

  12. I'm just about to send away from I-129F petition, but before I do I want to make sure I'm sending all the correct things. In my package that I'm sending, I have;

    Cover Letter

    Two Intent to Marry forms

    The I-129F

Two 325A forms (One for myself, one for my fiance)

Two passport pictures (Myself, and one of my Fiance)

My plane ticket boarding passes from my one visit and 6 pictures of us meeting...

I do believe that is all I have... if I'm missing anything PLEASE let me know!!

(Passport stamps as additional proof of meeting?)

    Check?

  13. hello guys..i will have my interview nextweek... and i was confused about ds230 form because embassy sent me a ds230 form together with the appointment letter and i filled up a little mistakes and i noticed the form they sent to me is expired form...im confused if consul will accept downloaded ds230 since they sent me a expired form..its says i need to bring ds230 form during my interview..pls pls pls help me.. im sooo confused. pls pls pls help me!!

thank's in advance to all the peeps who reply me.

My fiance used the ones online, and they too had sent him 'other' versions of the form. They accepted the current versions we got online (that was in Spain).

  14. I don't know if you have tried to get a tourist visa from Peru yet, but it is VERY difficult. My fiance lives in Spain, but is Peruvian. We thought that since he was a legal resident of Spain would help him be able to get a tourist visa (he has lived there long enough that he could apply to be a Spanish citizen). We were wrong, he was denied in an instant (a year and a half ago). Since then, we became engaged, and I became friends with a couple who live in my city. She brought her now husband from Peru. They were together for 4 years prior to applying for the fiance visa, she went to Peru many times to visit. They tried 2 times to get a tourist visa for her fiance from Peru. He is from a VERY wealthy family in Peru, but was denied.

I do not know what the requirements are to gain a tourist visa from Peru, but it does seem it is extremely difficult, even for those with jobs to return to and money in the bank.

If you are not ready to live in the U.S. yet, can you wait to marry for a couple of years until you are ready to reside here? That seems to be an option. Also remember, that getting married in the U.S., the Peruvian family will likely not be able to attend. (The US family could go to Peru for a wedding).

  15. NONE is how she addressed it previously, then that would be what I would use again too. My boss coincidentally did not have a family name, and after arriving here they used her first name twice. Now she is the equivalent of Sarah Sarah. Thankfully your fiancee will not have to worry about that since she soon will be married! You can not create a family name if she does not have one.

  16. #10 does say 'if known', although I can't answer if putting N/A is better than putting USC's US address if it is likely to change before you arrive.

30/32/33 We only put the cities, and had no problems

Student jobs I would also list under 32...If unpaid internship for school you may want to note that. You may want to answer #32 on a separate sheet of paper, we did.

  17. thanks again for all the replies,

so could i have her sign a letter of intent (seperate from mine) and have her mail (usps) it to me, or would i have to mail her my orginal signed letter of intent, and have her sign it and send it back?

Email her a letter for her. There should be 2 letters. One from you, and another from her. Email it to her so she can print it, sign it, and mail it to you!
