The Hobbit.
I thought it was too long and very monotonous -- the second half picked up, though. Mr. Sachinky is a HUGE LOTR fan and he thought it was enjoyable. Thought he didn't like the fact that it veered from the book.

Received my greencard last night in the mail.

Congratulations "sachinky"
Thanks!
Just got an email that says that USPS will deliver my card within the next 7 business days.

On December 7, 2012, we ordered production of your new card
Yay, go VSC!

I would make an infopass and see if they can redo your biometrics.
This worries me as they had a lot of difficulty getting my fingerprints as well. Took a while and finally the man overrode the system manually.
-
Glad to see some action at VSC.
Mine still says initial review. Maybe I'll call this week.

Nothing here yet. Checked my mail on Saturday. Fingers crossed.

Lincoln.
8/10
Powerful, riveting and moving. Daniel Day Lewis was superb.

Skyfall. Enjoyable movie. Hubby LOVED it. I thought it resembled a Bollywood masala potboiler but it was fun, nonetheless.
Javier Bardem was brilliant!
7/10

The Horsemen. 6/10. Quite predictable.
Paranormal Activity 3. 7/10. Pretty much in keeping with the rest of the series.
Dunston Checks In. 7/10 STILL awesome.

I am unable to vote in this election but Mr. Sachinky did early vote in NM yesterday.

Argo is tremendously dramatic, exciting, suspenseful and heart wrenching in equal measure. But also hilarious on several occasions. I'd rate it 9/10.
Seriously, go watch "Argo." NOW. Fantastic, edge of the seat stuff. Ben Affleck, take a bow.

Cocktail (2012) 6/10 Pretty meh. Some funny bits.
Varsity Blues (1999) 7/10 I heart HS football flicks.
Halloween: Ressurection 5/10 Starring Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks. I think that says it all.

Looper. 8/10
Thoroughly enjoyable. Went in without having watched a single trailer, read a review or even knowing who was in it.

Just a quick question -- traveling internationally with the expired greencard along with the NOA1 is ok, right?
Mr. Sachinky and I are planning a trip to the Dominican Republic in the next month or two -- anyone know if I, as an Indian citizen, will require a tourist visa?

Something Borrowed.
Lousy flick. Despicable characters. I love rom-coms but this one was rather meh.
-
The Possession.
I had my eyes shut tight during the scary parts so I have no idea how scary it really was.

Chomp by Carl Hiaasen.
Wasn't as good as his other YA stuff.

Wanderlust.
Love Aniston and Rudd but it was a little bit too off-kilter for my taste.
Race
Usual over-the-top Bollywood action flick.
Before the Rains
Second viewing. Gorgeous, gorgeous film.
The Dictator.
It made me laugh.

I sent one affidavit from my in-laws. That was it.

If you are interested in historical dramatized fiction I would definitely recommend author Indu Sundaresan's trilogy chronicling the life of Mughal Empress Noor Jahan, the woman Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal for. Enthralling work.
The three books in order are:
The Twentieth Wife.
A Feast of Roses.
Shadow Princess.
Book description :
An enchanting seventeenth-century epic of grand passion and adventure, this debut novel tells the captivating story of one of India's most legendary and controversial empresses -- a woman whose brilliance and determination trumped myriad obstacles, and whose love shaped the course of the Mughal empire.
She came into the world in the year 1577, to the howling accompaniment of a ferocious winter storm. As the daughter of starving refugees fleeing violent persecution in Persia, her fateful birth in a roadside tent sparked a miraculous reversal of family fortune, culminating in her father's introduction to the court of Emperor Akbar. She is called Mehrunnisa, the Sun of Women. This is her story.
Skillfully blending the textures of historical reality with the rich and sensuous imaginings of a timeless fairy tale, "The Twentieth Wife sweeps readers up in the emotional pageant of Salim and Mehrunnisa's embattled love. First-time novelist Indu Sundaresan charts her heroine's enthralling journey across the years, froman ill-fated first marriage through motherhood and into a dangerous maze of power struggles and political machinations. Through it all, Mehrunnisa and Salim long with fiery intensity for the true, redemptive love they've never known -- and their mutual quest ultimately takes them, and the vast empire that hangs in the balance, to places they never dreamed possible.
Shot through with wonder and suspense, "The Twentieth Wife is at once a fascinating portrait of one woman's convention-defying life behind the veil and a transporting saga of the astonishing potency of love.

The Faculty.
Decent late-nineties campy "horror" flick.

Rock of Ages.
Fun flick. Hubby and I both enjoyed it thoroughly. Plot is non-existent but the awesome soundtrack more than makes up for it.
