  1. Hello VJers! Finally, my visa was approved! I got a pink slip w/c u could see at the attached pic here. All my prayers were heard coz my interview went well, smooth and fast. I'm so glad that the pre-screener and the consul were both so nice and good lookin' guys (they keep on smiling pa and that makes my day hahaha!).

First, i got there at exactly 6am in the waiting area, good thing it's not raining coz walang shade sa waiting area. Then i was able to fall in line near the gate i think 7:05am na at syempre mahaba ang pila. They inspected the confirmation letter and then pila ulit sa Gate 2 for security check. Don't ever dare to bring any cellfone or electronic gadgets kse there's an x-ray scan to check the bags and the lady ahead of me has 3 electronic gadgets including a celfone in her bag ha and it was detected there and the lady guard got confused and thought it was my bag so my bag was rescanned again. When I was able to get inside, i fall in line at the Immigration Booth and here i passed the DS forms and the confirmation ltr, here i was given a number stub at 7:43am and an Air21 form. After 15 mins, my name was called for Finger Scanning and after that, i waited for my number to be flashed on the board. While i'm waiting, i keep on praying the Apostle's Creed w/c my fiance adviced me to do so coz i'm a bit nervous about the validity of my Bahrain Police Clearance. After 15 mins again, my number flashed and i went to the Windows 16 for the pre-screener interview. Here i gave him the BC, CENOMAR, NBI and my Bahrain Police Clearance. He returned one of my pix fr St. Luke's and he started to ask me some questions. The pre-screener was a very nice Filipino guy, he looked like Bobby Yan na moreno and he smiled at me most of the time at Tagalog lang sya magtanong. He asked for the Affidavit of Support papers and i gave it to him. Then he asked me: Kung nakapunta na ba ko ng ibang bansa, saan? gaano ako katagal don? ano work ko sa Bahrain? at kelan at paano kame nagkakilala ng fiance ko? He's jotting down all my answers sa paper. And then, he asked me if i have photos together w/ my fiance and i gave him my clear book w/ our photos, he looked at it and then he told me to wait again for my number to be flashed and thanked me. He didn't ask for other evidences like emails, chat logs or phone call logs ha. Tapos hinabol nya ulit ako to ask one last question w/c is kelan nakarating sa US ang fiance ko and i answered it w/ a smile. My God, it was a big relief for me kse nga inaccept yung Bahrain Police Clearance ko khit nung Oct 08 pa sya inissue so nawala tlaga ang kaba ko. For the consul interview, i think i waited a bit longer here. I saw my number flashed at 8:48am then i went to Window 29 but i was told to wait lang muna dun sa chair coz may iniinterview pa sa loob. Here, i prayed again and i could hear fr outside that the consul was an American. I was able to get inside at exactly 9am. The consul was a nice looking American guy, i guess in his middle age. He's so kind and warm. He asked me to raise my hands for a sworn statement and just asked me a few questions like how did u meet your fiance, if i've been to other country and what did i do there, how's my work experience in Bahrain, when was the last time i saw my fiance, what's his work and then he looked at our pictures together and he saw one of our pix that my fiance was holding a baby together w/ me and he asked if that was my baby and i was confused coz i used to call my fiance as "baby" so i tried to look closer and i recognized it was the baby cousin of my fiance. he just smiled at me and he saw one pic again of my fiance w/ tattoos on both of his arms and he was so amazed about it and he told me, "How i wish i also have a tattoo like that! That's cool!" and i told him that it was just a fake tattoo that he put in his arms during his gig in a Filipino bar in Cali. He laughed about it and asked me to wait for a second coz he's goin to type something. Then finally, he said "I don't see any problems w/ ur application Cristina, your visa was approved and congratulations! WOW! My reaction was "Really, it was approved? Thank you very much sir!" with a big smile on my face hahaha! He gave me the pink slip and told me to wait for my number to be flashed. The interview was really just 5 mins. Then after that, i went to Window 37, they returned my clear book w/ photos and then i proceeded to the Air21 booth. I'm super happy w/ my interview experience and i even forgot to go to the CR ha. I'm out at 9:15am, that was fast di ba? At syempre, dumaan muna ko ng Baclaran church to thank Him for a very nice interview. When i went home, i txted my fiance about it and he jumped for joy lang naman at tumaas ang blood pressure nya sa excitement at tuwa haha!

Again, thank you so much VJers for all of your support and good advices here. May God bless you all!

MEDICAL EXAMINATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR IMMIGRANT, "K" AND "V" VISA APPLICANTS

Under U.S. immigration law, ALL applicants for immigrant, "K," and "V" visas are required to undergo and complete a medical examination, regardless of age. The medical examination findings by a panel physician are binding on the consular and used to determine eligibility to receive a visa.

St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic (SLMCEC) is the Embassy's accredited medical facility. It is located at 1177 J. Bocobo St., Ermita, Manila. The telephone numbers are 521-0020 and 521-8647, and it is open for business Monday through Friday (except on Philippine holidays), from 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. When you go to SLMCEC for medical examination, you must bring your interview appointment letter, passport, and one photo (size: 2" x 2").

It is important that you must have completed your medical examination when you come to the Embassy for your visa interview. Otherwise, your visa application will be refused or you may be asked to return for another appointment. The medical examination results are delivered directly to the Embassy.

    I. First-Come, First-Served

Applicants are examined on a first-come, first-served basis. Medical examinations may take more than one day to complete. Female applicants may request a female doctor to perform the examination. Unless it is necessary, do not bring companions due to space limitation at the clinic.

    II. Fees

The medical examination fee is $95 USD for adults (15 years of age or older) and $67 USD for children (14 years of age or younger). Repeat X-rays will cost $7 US each. Fees must be paid in their Philippine peso equivalent at the prevailing U.S. Embassy exchange rate.

    III. X-Rays

A chest X-ray is not required for children below 15 years old, unless symptoms of tuberculosis (TB) exist, there is a history of TB, or there has been possible exposure of TB with a known case such as contact with a family or household member with TB.

Chest X-rays for pregnant women are not dangerous if taken with the proper shielding. U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS)/Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has approved an exception to the chest X-ray requirement for pregnant women if they do not want to take it. However, pregnant women visa applicants are advised to obtain a tuberculin skin test and any necessary follow-up at the local health department after arriving in the United States.

Applicants who have previous chest X-rays must bring the results with them to SLMCEC for comparative analysis.

IV. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Test

HIV infection, which may lead to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), is a communicable disease of public health significance. ALL applicants 15 years of age or older must be tested for evidence of HIV infection. Those under the age of 15 may be tested if there is reason to suspect HIV infection (for example a child whose natural parent is HIV-positive).

    V. Divulgence of Contents of Medical Exam Reports

Visa records, including medical exam reports in support of a visa application, are confidential under the law and are generally NOT releasable. Consular officers may not divulge the particulars of an applicant's physical or mental health.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENT FOR "K" VISA APPLICANTS

U.S. immigration law requires that ALL intending immigrants be vaccinated against certain vaccine-preventable diseases before they can be admitted to the United States for permanent residence.

Vaccinations currently required are as follows:

    - Mumps

    - Measles

    - Rubella

    - Polio

    - Tetanus and Diphtheria toxoids

    - Pertussis

    - Influenza Type B

    - Hepatitis Type B

    - Varicella

    - Pneumoccocal

"K" visa applicants, as non-immigrant visa applicants, are technically not subject to the vaccination requirement. "K" visa applicants who refuse to comply with the vaccination requirement WILL NOT be denied a visa on that basis. As a matter of expediency, however, it is encouraged that "K" visa applicants meet the vaccination requirement before they are admitted into the U.S.

Bring your Vaccination Records for the Panel Physician's Review

You should bring records to show that you have already received vaccinations against certain vaccine-preventable diseases. The panel physician will review the vaccination records and will determine if you meet the vaccination requirement. Only the panel physician can determine which vaccinations are medically appropriate. This could mean that you may be required to repeat doses of vaccines that you have already received. Administering a second dose, however, will not endanger your health.

Adjustment of Status Application After "K" Applicant's Admission Into The U.S.

After you have been admitted to the U.S. in "K" status and apply for adjustment from non-immigrant to a permanent resident (green card holder), the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will use the panel physician's vaccination assessment to determine your admissibility on medical grounds. Applicants who have not fully complied with the vaccination requirement will have to do so before they may finalize their adjustment of status in the U.S.

    Vaccination Requirement Waiver

A decision to grant a waiver of the vaccination requirement will only be made at the time an adjustment of status is filed and reviewed by the USCIS.

  5. Hi Everyone!

I was close to finish this post yesterday but our computer messed up and had brownout! But, oh well…I’m here now to finish it…Anyways, my husband woke me up with his call at exactly 6:04 yesterday morning (4/25/09). When I picked up the phone, I heard asawa ko crying. I asked him “what’s wrong” and his answer was…Baby, we’re approved! I thought I was just dreaming and so I asked my hubby again and he responded me with the same answer. Just then, I realized that I was really talking to my husband on the phone and he was telling me the GREAT news! Then, minutes later, I felt that I was already too crying. Wow! Thank you LORD! Finally, we’re approved! My husband called at USCIS again at 4:21 his afternoon on Friday (4/24) and the escalated support rep that he spoke with told him we are already approved (both I-130 & I-129f.) That they have assigned my alienation registration number and that my name is already at the Central Index System, which means they have approved our petition. Wow! We're both so very happy! I was screaming but I did not give a damn! Lol. Woooohoooo! I was just so happy! Happy! Happy! And, I still am. Lol. Wow! Asawa ko and I both cried. Because we know, the clock starts ticking and soon we will be together and will never be apart from each other again. Forever!

Now, we are just waiting for our hard copies in the mail and we will update you guys as soon as my husband get them.

................Thank you Oh LORD, for always being with us! Please, guide us through my interview.................

    congratz....
