  3. Looks like I'll be making a trip to Tacloban sometime in the near future and I could use some help where gifts for her family are concerned. There's Mom, Dad, numerous brothers and sisters and plenty of nieces and nephews. Would I be better off getting a big gift basket for the family or should I try to figure out individual gifts? I've never met them (except on cam) of course, and there are so many people to try to consider. I'll definitely grab some big bags of candy for all the kids and something special for her. Any help or ideas you have would sure be appreciated :D

well when my hubby went here told him not to bring anything bcoz there are things too here that u can buy in the u.s... but he still bought small things like he gave me one army pin, a solar key chain with my name on it.. godiva chocolates and my ring.. and for my family before he left we had a big shopping at the mall hehehe.. its fun....

  4. MY INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

July 2, 2009 & 7am was my interview schedule. I was already in the embassy gate at around 6am. I showed my confirmation letter and valid ID's to the guard and he let me in, told me go to waiting area ( lots of applicants were already seating on the waiting area). Then we asked to fall in line for the security inspection ( make sure you don't bring any electronic devices).I already knew that so I didn't bring my cellphone and USB. After that, I went to Immigration area.

The guard instructed us to wait and sit on the chairs there. The first step was checking the ds forms (ds 156, ds 157, ds 156k), confirmation letter and the payment for the visa (make sure you already paid the visa in bdo and have the receipt and the ds 157 form from the bank or else they will ask you first to pay the visa). After the lady screener checked and approved my forms, she told to fall in line in the window where you are going to give the approved forms. The lady asked me if I passed the medical and gave me my number (7011 was my lucky number on that day). And also a small brown form for the delivery of you visa.

I went back to my sit and wait for my name to be called for finger scanning. While waiting, I started filling up the small brown form. I heard my name called from window Y (window X & Y are for finger scanning). Then I went back again to my sit. After a couple of minutes, I saw my number 7011 flashed (I was assigned on window 19 for pre-screening). My pre-screener was a filipino male and he was friendly. He asked me first for my birth certificate, nbi and cenomar. Then asked if I have affidavit of support. So I gave him my fiance certificate of employment and 2008 ITR. He also asked for some evidence of relatioship so I gave him my folder for proof of engagements, folder for continous relationship and folder for proof of meeting. He said that I really gave efforts to make my documents look nice and presentable so I smiled at him and said thank you. While he was collecting my documents, he asked me some questios like "When, Where, How did me and my fiance meet?". Then he smiled and asked me again in tagalog "Bakit ayaw mo sa pinoy?". Then I smiled also and answered "Kasi po mga salawahan! hehehe". More questions followed like "How old is your fiance?", "What is his birthday?", "What is your birthday?", "How old are you?", "What is your fiance's work?". He was jotting down all my answers. Then he asked me to go back to my sit and wait for my number to flashed again for the final interview to the consul.

I went back to my sit and chatted with some K1 applicants there while waiting for our final interview to the consul. The room was cold so I was trembling cuz I did not bring jacket. Then after a couple of minutes waiting, my number flashed again outside the small room where the final interview will happen (the one with sliding door). I went in and closed the door. My consul looks like a young man and he's white american (maybe on his early 30's). I greeted him and greeted me back. Asked me to sit down while he was checking on computer. He looks like a strict consul but he's good looking and he never smiled at me so it adds to my nervousness. Then the interview started, asked me to raised my right hand and swear to tell the truth. Afterwards, asked me same questions like my pre-screener asked before. He looked on my documents, took some glimpse then returned my folders to me. He did some stamps and signed and told me "YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED!" I was so surprised when he told me those words and replied to him "THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR!". He told to wait outside again and pay for the delivery. I think my interview took around 5-7 minutes.

I went back again to my sit and after some minutes my number flashed again where the window for slips will be given. The lady on that window asked for my name and she gave me a pink slip and delivery form. She asked me to go to air21(near the entrance door) and pay for the delivery. I went to the booth for air21 and I gave the man the pink slip and the small brown form. He then encode information about me,my name,my address, telephone#, cellphone# and e-mail add. I payed 205 pesos fort he delivery and he told that I can go home now and wait for the visa. I asked him how many days is the visa delivery. He didn't gave me exact days but he told me that once the visa is with them, it will only take a day for the delivery. Then I went home!

I feel so relieved while walking out in the embassy. All the waiting, nervousness, sadness, payments and preparing were all worthy done. I feel so blessed and thank God for giving 'the best gift'. I will soon be with my Jim.

    wow congratz.....

  5. Hello my vjers family,

Maraming salamat mga kapatid. :dance::dance::dance::dance:

    wow congratz!!!

  6. Wohoooo! I got a pink slip for my June 26 Interview.

Thanks to my VJ family, you made me confident in facing the interview. I didn’t broke a sweat at all

I came across Visa Journey long after I got NOA2 hardcopy and had scheduled an interview already but the posts/queries/concerns and testimonials of the Vjers made me feel secured.

It was truly a journey with you all

    wow congratz!!!

  7. Iam not sure if there is already a topic about this..but anyway, I just want to share mine.

A long distance relationship is really hard and a constant communication with my fiance really helps me to survive for 6 years.

    1. We talk every weekend/holidays on chat (I always make sure I dont have a schedule in the afternoon).

    2. I call him everyday to wake him up. We chat on phone while he`s driving to work.

    3. He calls me everyday after he leaves work and while driving on his way home.

    4. We send each other text messages in the evening before he goes to bed or when I/he is out of the house (party, malls, school, etc.)

    5. For 4 years we sent each other emails tons. We stop now because we prefer communications on phone.

    6. I even communicate with him even while he`s sleeping. He just leaves his webcam open so I can watch/hear (love to hear his snores, makes me fall asleep) him while he`s sleeping and he does the same thing while I`m sleeping.

He`s always telling me that he talks to me more than he does with his family. Haha. I believe him. I know it is so expensive to make all the calls but hearing each other`s voice helps us to feel that there`s not much distance between us. It shouldn`t be talking about different/new topics because we usually run out of those, but we`re always reminding how much we love/miss and care for each other. What really matters is the happiness that we feel every time we hear/see (webcam) each other for as often as we can.

Well, hope to hear from you guys. :)

the usual.. ym.. e-mails.. snail mails... phone chats... but not yet experience to open our cam while we are sleeping or when we are taking a bath hehehhe... but yeah maybe its fun

  9. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good florist to help me with this... I tried Google and got a bazillion leads. I have no idea which are good and which are potential scams... FTD came to my mind at first but they do not have service in the Philippines.

Any help would be appreciated here friends!

My honey, Sarie, has never had flowers given to her before and she would absolutely LOVE it if I were to surprise her like that! :star:

She lives/works in Mandaluyong city if it matters... (If I were not so busy at work I would surprise her and deliver them myself! That way, I could take a picture of her face when she realizes what is happening! That would be a priceless photo to go along with a trip to the PI to visit my honey!!!)

    Thanks friends!

    James

well my honey sent me flowers tru flowerdepot... :luv:

  10. Hi friends. We passed our interview on Tuesday! I must tell everyone that if it is possible, you should attend your fiancee's interview. They did not ask for any evidence of relationship at all - I had letters of intent, many emails, chat logs, photos etc. but neither the pre-screener or the CO asked for them. (but of course you should bring those items with you).

It was funny, the CO was from the town right next to where I live in the US (Muskegon, MI. I am from Grand Haven).

They actually asked me more questions than my fiancee!

Thanks for everyone's help in preparing for our interview.

We asked to pick-up our visa and hopefully we will fly back together on the 4th of July.

    WOW CONGRATZ!!!!

  20. I AGREE WITH YOU LUCY HEHEHEHE....

All i know is no one here in vj knows who you really are as a person except yourself. I believe, we are equally created by God, so i find it useless comparing each other. I believe that vj is for sharing and helping each other and lastly, I believe that vj was a nice website to hang out when nobody's attacking each other, i don't find it entertaining at all. Why can't we just busy our selves answering queries related to getting that "visa" instead of trying to prove that we are better than the other?hmmmmmnnn frustrating.

    To my fellow filipinas,

I know you don't know me...I'm a newbie here in VJ. I've only signed up last week. Though even before my fiance and I decided to start the visa process, I have been frequently browsing the VJ website, especially the Philippines Regional Forum.

I just want to raise some concerns based on my observations and what I've read since I've learned about this website. And I'm sure what I'm going to say will raise brows of many of you. And you will criticize me for meddling and for being mahadera (sorry, I don't know the english word for that). But I think it would be better if this will come from a concern filipina, rather than from an insulting person from other nationality...

    Anyways, here it goes:

I've noticed that filipinas have 5 ways of responding to insults/attacks to filipinas in general:

    1. Dedma/No reaction

    2. Raising your own chair/Justifying that you're different from others.

    3. Saying to those people insulting us what they want to hear/giving them the satisfaction

    4. Insulting/Attacking back.

    5. Responding nicely
