    Nice quote.
But here's the problem. Nobody is saying to judge the woman for her actions. Nobody is saying we are better than her. All anybody is saying is to tell the man who is being used. So your quote, while very nice, is not really applicable.

Jesus says,"Do to others what you would have them do to you."
JR/Durian says, "Mind your own business."
    I'll go with Jesus.

Why do you even care? Just make sure you are a good wife to your husband. Let Maria be happy the way she is.
Duh! in english we say mind your own business

This is an absolutely disgusting to talk about your wife's virtue. I think Gretchen should SLAP you in the face.
I personally find your behavior, mentality, perspective and bafoonery amazingly idiotic.
Gretchen, your husband says you read these posts... if so, then why are you letting him behave this way? Why do you let him expose intimate details about you? Don't you feel embarrassed?
IMHO, you should suspend his posting privileges until he learns to behave like a gentleman.

Great you are in IT... I've been in IT since they used punch cards and paper tape...(made wreaths for Christmas from punch cards and used those paper edges from form feed to put down in gardens to keep the weeds down.)
I guess the humor was missed...."marrying up" in the old, old days meant marrying ABOVE your "station" in life. (see O. Henry "Gift of the Magi" w/Marie Osmond) I meant it as finding someone who is better then you who can help improve you. Just goes to show sometimes a post meant in humor can be lost in translation.....
Iron sharpens iron....so also a great woman makes a good man. Behind every great man is an even greater woman....I am an "old-fashioned, traditional" kind of guy. I don't mind how you run your household. Just don't ask me to agree with or to like it.

sounds like you managed to "marry up" and find someone better then you..... congrats. Hopefully, she will keep on tolerating your "shortfalls" while helping you to know when to "come out of the rain" common sense. Glad she has done so well....

This topic is kind of laughable. If you know your wife well, you know how she likes to be taught, you know how she likes things to be explained to her. There is no issue in teaching her a new skill, hence driving.
If you know your ABC, it is not that difficult to teach other the ABC But if you don't know your abc, I agree. Go ahead and waste your money asking other to teach your wife the ABC

Wow so many negative things about Filipina learning to drive. I gave my wife driving lesson and she did extremely well. I wonder if the problem is the person teaching? Maybe it has to do because I am a very careful person driving, patient, and good at explaining thing.
But I hear most men complaning about teaching their wife how to drive. It makes me feel maybe the teacher needs to learn to teach?

Please take care not to make generalized stereotyped comments as if all women from the Philippines are the same. If you are talking about your own personal experience, please use personal pronouns and possessives rather than the general 'they' that implies painting everyone with the same brush.
One post has been modified to reflect the poster's personal experience and remove the 'all are the same' type of stereotype. Topic title has also been modified to reflect the more accurate personal experience of the OP. One post addressing the above issue has been removed as it is no longer applicable and could be confusing.

    IMO...That's a lead clue.
So many times...one sided stories are posted. An OP composes a thread claiming absolute innocence while bemoaning (point by point) their SO's monstrous atrocities and evil manipulations.
What is he really guilty of? (Possibly / probably / maybe / odds are)..... More than he will ever admit.
ETA: Interesting ...St. Lukes did not detect the "real medical and mental issues"...I s'spose they were duped too.

We here at VJ were the first ones to find out about only the second immaculate conception in all of recorded history. Of course, as we all know, the first immaculate conception was when the Virgin Mary miraculously became pregnant with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Also, as we all know, Darren loudly proclaimed Gretchen's virginity to the world right here on VJ, along with his vow to "wait" until they were married. Of course, Gretchen must have given Darren permission to broadcast her sex life to uncounted millions of strangers on the internet because only a complete moron would "out" his fiancée without her express approval. Nevertheless, we had no doubt that Darren's promise to "wait" was as good as gold.
Imagine our surprise and shock when Gretchen became pregnant before she and Darren were married. When that happened, we knew we had witnessed a miracle-- an immaculate conception.
I must say, Darren seems very humble about this event of biblical proportions. I wonder if he included news of this miracle in Gretchen's AOS packet.

However, it has been established that it was an immaculate conception.

I think / suspect...Darren was upset because she hid that conversation from him. I wonder why she kept it a secret... I wonder what she and the other man discussed.... I wonder...wonder... A bigger boat?

After reading all the posts, I am ready to give my "expert" opinion. I work for Legal Aid and I interview people who want our free services. They usually embellish their stories and part of my job is to get the truth our of them. Even though we are here to help them, they know that they are more likely to get the help is their story is appealing, even though they are actually creating a disservice to them by lying to us. The original poster is is the same situation.
The poster first said that the marriage was a "secret" and that husband did not want his CO to know about it. However, poster has military ID which means that husband did fill out the proper forms and has official told the Navy about wife.
Poster was been arrested twice, it seems for domestic violence. The police will not arrest some without some evidence, specially TWICE. Husband had to have scratches at least.
Poster claims that the whole world is against her and that her husband has this unbelievable power to convince everybody (the police, his CO, the doctor, the lawyer, etc.).
And her "I do/did not not enough English" excuse for nobody believing her is BS.
What does poster want really want? If she is so scare of husband, she can call the local shelter and her problems are solved. Well, at least the abuse problem. If all she wants is the green card VAWA is her best option. But don't sugar coat your story because you are doing yourself more harm than good.
I believe the truth is in the middle.

The person is also not very good at impersonating a woman. Someone having a little fun I suppose. 21st century prank phone call. VJ members as usual try to help, good for them.
Dude, the people at this site actually have experience with the people and cultures you are doing a terrible job of impersonating, you cannot pull it off, you blew it in the first post but there was not enough for me to call BS until a bit later. Your response confirms it.
Make a new member name and try again but this time be a Canadian.

"Then?" How long ago and how did you learn to speak/write English so well if you are not going anywhere? This post, while it has some awkwardness and a few errors is quite good and even includes slang and idioms which were not taught in your English class. "Kinda[/b]" ???? "Ppl" ??? "I was like..." ??? "Wanna" ???? The mispelling of "either" as "ether" is what I would expect to see a lot more of, very common with native Russian speakers. Even ones quite well educated in the language. So few errors makes me think they are contrived.
    Carry on.

Well, is it because arrogance?.. or... is it because ignorance? or... for some, maybe both?
My husband spent almost 8 months in the Philippines while waiting for our visa. During that time, hubby was constantly exposed to many diffrent Filipinos and our culture and yet, hubby has never considered or presented himself as an "expert" on Filipino / culture. Even still, hubby considers himself a "student" learning about the Philippines, Filipinos and most importantly, ME!
