I finally received the EAD card after 8 days of waiting (the envelope was stamped for 7/30 but i received it on 8/6).
Anyways, I went to apply for replacement of my SS card but found out I have to wait TWO WEEKS for it to be mailed to me?!?!?!?!?
How long did it take for you guys to receive your SS cards?
We applied after our wedding. A name change was involved so they put in a request for a name change and the SSN. It took almost a month to get the card. We applied before the I-94 expired.

can anyone here have biometrics earlier than the said biometrics appointment?if so how can we go earlier than the said date of appointment.thanks
You can try to go to the office as a walk-in but they may turn you away. I went in early but I had a conflict with the scheduled date. I was hoping they would just process us and they did. Good Luck.
You can always attempt a early walk in many members have done that. Some get taken and some do not. where is your BIO scheduled??can we call or not? aug.25-biometrics appointment
I would not call just go if it is close.

Just got two e-mails from CRIS. EAD card production ordered and AP approved. YAY
Congrats...Moving right along.

I just got the second email regarding the EAD. It seems to be the norm. It also resulted in another touch.
-
Hate when ya see timelines so similar to your but just a couple days after and they get approved first ... uggghhhhh hahaha congrats on the approval
I know the feeling but look at it this way...the more good news you hear for others the closer they are getting to your case. Soon! Soon!

Had a dream that we got an email with our GC approval. BTW: I had another touch on the AP yesterday so that is 3 days in a row on the AP. I hope the next few days are filled with good news.

I've seen similar topics on this, but I'm still not quite sure what to do. My fiance has two last names. The first is his father's last name (ie Doe) and his mother's last name (ie Garcia). So, his name as on his birth certificate would be Juan Doe Garcia.
I went to fill out the marriage license application today and came across the first (of what I assume will be many) name issues. Originally, she wrote Doe as a middle name, so his name appeared as "Garcia, Juan Doe." However, Doe is NOT actually a middle name, but is the surname he has used his whole life. We finally settled it by putting both last names in the surname place, so it's "Doe Garcia, Juan." She told me to check what's on his passport/social security card (he was a student on an F1 and has a SSN) and let her know if it needs to be changed.
The problem is, I think it's different on both documents. On his birth certificate and passport, his name appears with both last names. However, for simplicity's sake, when he applied for his ss card, he just put his name as Juan Doe b/c that really is the name he uses in everyday life.
I just want to be able to choose one way and be consistent from here on out, ie driver's license and other legal docs. I think he prefers just to go by Juan Doe in the U.S. as it's just easier. Can we drop the Garcia on the marriage certificate or should we be consistent with his birth certificate?
Any suggestions? Which agency would be the ultimate authority on this?
My Husband is from Nicaragua and we had a similar situation.
His name is Balvino Waldan Alvarez. When we fill out official documents this is what we use even though he goes by Waldan as a last name. When we got married he changed his name to Balvino Alvarez Waldan-Brown. He took my last name as well. When you fill anything out for USCIS make sure you use what is on his BC or passport. When we filed for AOS and used his married name we had no problems nor for SSN. Good Luck!
Thanks for the responses. It seems like there's a few different approaches outlined/advice, so I'm still not really sure what to do.
You said your husband changed his name when he got married. I think my SO is fine with changing his name officially to just use first name and dad's last name (esp. since it's already what's on his Social Sec. card). He doesn't want a hyphen or really to use the mother's last name at all. But, when and how does a person change their name?
And, in the meantime, can we actually apply for the marriage license with just his first name and dad's last name? Or will this be a problem b/c of the 2nd last name on the passport/birth certificate? The woman at the court house told me to see what's on his passport and social security card, but the problem is, they're different! Passport has (First Name/First Last Name/2nd Last Name) whereas ss has First Name/First Last Name.
Thanks!
We changed our names on the marriage certificate...then the SSN. You will submit this with your AOS and so on. You just need to be consistent with whatever you decide.

Hello everyone. I have been reading some of the post here and I was wondering if you have any info or have any thoughts on my case. On July 10th I received this :
On July 10, 2009, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location
Then on July 18th
The I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office
So my question is: Is this mean that my case is now in the Atlanta local office? I haven't heard for a case transferred to California Service Center and then back to a local office.
Any thoughts on the matter are much appreciated.
Congratulations to everyone who got approved for their EAD/AP. Good luck further
The first one is the notice that you were transfered to the Cali office. Congrats!
The second is a notice that the Cali office has your case.
I was transfered and received the same notices.

Have Eric and Maryann crossed paths yet? That would make sense regarding Sam. I have a feeling that the Vampires are setting up a trap for the Bible thumpers...just a feeling. Do you think Eric and Sookie get together? A little Vamp love triangle? She hates him a little too much. Bill is so boring and the flashbacks are so awkward. I like Eric. Jason has something going on. Jason dogged that meathead and then he ran and tried to take it out on a girl. Lame.
-
And skerber, that was Godric, the missing vampire they were sent there to find.
What happened to his awesome tats?
I think the Tats are still there. You could see one on his arm. I think I want to watch it again tonight. I hope Jason isn't dead. I do wonder who will go next.

Good news and bad news today. The good news is that Bella's interview appointment letter arrived today. The bad news is that it is scheduled on August 28th, 4 days after the kids' appointments.
