  1. WOOHOO about time ...

CARD PRODUCTION ORDERED ... just got it 10:50am today !!!

hope that means the rest of you are getting it very soon

ok i didn't actually need it but that means a load has been lifted off my chest just knowing things are well !!

    Good Luck folks

Congrats! The rest of us are still waiting also! And the good news...Josue got work today!!!

    Congratulations on the job!

So nice to hear all the good news!!! I am ready for a little more.

  2. My husband and I started this immigration process last year, we already have our I-130 approved and sent the choice of agent and waiting to send the affidavit of support next. Has anyone here been thru the process in Nicaragua and can give a little but of info on how things are working there? Where did you do the medical and are you able to submit the waiver the day of the interview? Thank you.

We did the K-1 and we had a great experience with the Embassy in Nicaragua. You can email the embassy and ask questions about your situation. You can find the email on their website. They will give you a list of doctors you can use for the medical once your interview is scheduled. Good Luck!

  3. I did not include a letter of intent in my packet and we had no problems with our application. I submitted a letter in the format of a timeline that told the story of how we met and fell in love. I did state that we wanted to start our life together. I considered this my evidence. I found VJ after I filed and had no problems following the guidelines from USCIS. I don't remember the request for a letter but maybe I interpreted the request differently. Thanks VJ for the help and support. What would we do with out you?

  4. So, I was just thinking, knowing USCIS and their craziness and knowing that this same exact thing happened to us with the I-129F application (which still says "Case received and pending" on the status page although we got 2 touches back to back and then the NOA2 in the mail a week later), do you think that they might have approved us on the 16th and sent to get the GC printed on the 19th without actually changing the status on the webpage? Maybe a far shot, but trying to stay positive here. Keep checking your snail-mail boxes, guys!

my fingers are crossed for you!!! :star:

Me too! I am thinking about all of you waiting and hoping for the response soon.

  5. Mine got touched again today 10-19 and so far no email

    Us too!

Koakland, my husband is still searching also, had a couple interviews but nothing yet. His biggest hold up is his English, which he's still working on. Two of his interviews were at Mexican restaurants, and they both wanted him to work 48 hours a week, one for less than minimum wage with no tips, and the other tips only - BOTH are illegal! He's still looking!!!!

Good Luck to everyone still waiting. The touches are a good sign. Maybe this week!!

The job situation for Balvino has been difficult as well. He did get a job at a plant shed and liked the work but the managers were unorganized and some of the workers were crass. It was also under the table. He was only working three days but I did not like it and he seemed a bit unhappy. I pushed him to apply at Eli Zabar's shop around the corner. The Zabar family is famous here in NYC for their gourmet grocery store on the West side. The younger son of the family opened a whole franchise here on the East side. There is a bread stop, restaurant, grocery store and wine store. He got a job and loves it so far. Everyone is nice and it is a nice mix of nationalities. We filled out the W-4 and I-9 the other day...such a great feeling. He can get benefits after 6 months and a 401k after one year. I hope the job works out long term.

Stay strong in the job search and the lesson of our story is don't settle. Balvino didn't want to approach the manager but I pushed him and he is happier.

  6. Ok so I have a problem or well I don't know if it is a big problem.

We just filed for our I-129F. He has a foreign address. His residential address is not a reliable address so his postal address is different. Where does the USCIS send information. How do we know wat postal address to use so that he can get paperwork as well from the USCIS. How do I go about inquiring about address. When i receive the NOA, will i be receiving only or will he be receiving it too? I am really confused because in SAudi residential addresses are not very reliable. I don't want any of his paperwork or packages that he gets from the USCIS lost. IS there a number I can call to confirm what addres sthey can send information to him. Please Help me. Please.

It should all come to you the petitioner.

  7. My husband is looking for work and has come across a few jobs. Most seem to be under the table, which bothers me. Should I be worried if he works a few days a week under the table? We will be removing conditions in about two years...he just got his green card in August. Has anyone had experience with approaching managers about putting the pay on record or any advice about the risk of taking a job that pays under the table.

    -Thanks!

If you get caught then it will be considered income tax evasion.

Here's more information about income tax evasion from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_avoidance_and_tax_evasion

Here are some details about tax evasion penalties: http://qanda.encyclopedia.com/question/pun...ion-352934.html

Thanks for the feedback. I need to talk with my husband about this and see if he can do a 1099 or refuse any work that is not on the books.

  8. I just read the first two books. I really like them and they are a quick read. I am about to start the third book. What I like about reading the books is seeing how the writers twist the stories and characters. Too long till the next season I need something to keep me occupied.

  10. I had my interview today at Garden City, NY. They asked my husband (USC) most of the pertinent questions. They asked me about his family etc. . After the interview she asked me if I wanted to wait to get my passport stamped. Of course I did. They told me when I had to apply for Removal of Conditions.

    Thanks be to GOD !

Thanks for all the visa journey support.

I also go the email from USCIS saying that card production was ordered.

Congrats!! See you again in two years :star:

  11. I have a feeling we'll hear something this week everyone. At least that's what I keep telling myself!!

I'm going to say Thursday. That's my guess.

I hope you all hear something soon! After a certain amount of time can you do an inquiry about your case?...like the K-1?

I wanted to let everyone know that Balvino got a job at a plant shed affiliated with a church on the west side. We found out about the job through friends, so I would suggest exhausting family and friend connections regarding the job search. We looked and nothing was coming up but with the help of friends that attend the church we were able to get Balvino an interview. He is working a lot and making a little more than minimum wage in NYC. My concern is that it appears to be under the table. Balvino and I have discussed whether he should push to have it be on the books but want to wait until he has been there long enough to know the managers a little better. Do you guys think we should be worried about him working under the table considering in two years we have to renew his visa? I may post the question to general VJers soon but I wanted to see what you all thought.

Hope everyone is well. I hope your right about Thursday SapphireDreams.

Congrats to Balvino on his job! Josue is still looking, hoping, and praying! I would probably be worried about working under the table. Josue turned down two jobs at Mexican restaurants - one wanted him to work for $4.79/hr bussing tables with no tips and 48 hours a week, and the other wanted him to wait tables for just tips. Both are illegal. We have found that those who employ Latinos assume that they don't know the tax & minimum wage laws and take advantage of their job need. I think I would have to say something and approach it in the way that you don't want it to affect you or them.

I have a feeling we'll hear something this week everyone. At least that's what I keep telling myself!!

Thursday would be fine with me!

Thanks for the feedback DavChels. I think at the end of this week I will have a long talk with Balvino. I would rather he focused on his studies right now. I think your right about the Latino thing. Most of the people there are latino and he likes them but I think there is an assumption that most are so desperate for work they will take anything offered. Balvino already turned down a free tutoring session because of this job.

I hope you hear something this week. Is Josue still looking for work? How's the pup, the house, and the school year going? I am still waiting to start a job in the the Bronx. The hiring freeze here in New York is crazy but I think it will work out this week. Good luck this week with emails!

  12. Most likely. I know my file has dust on it because it hasn't been "touched" since 8/5!

Nothing on ours since the day after biometrics. July 30th ..you can write your name in the dust on that thing

I can live with Thursday

I was waiting patiently as I hadn't had anything since July 21st, then all of a sudden, today I received notification that my AOS card has been ordered.:thumbs:

Maybe the dust pile is being looked at now?

Good luck to everyone and keep patient.

    Congrats!! :thumbs::dance:

  14. I have been so busy moving that we don't have cable yet. I am going to a friends house to watch the final episode...a tad late. So excited! A few of my friends say that is was good but not that exciting. I guess it is hard to top all the orgies, partying and basic craziness of the over all season. I hear there is a cliff hanger. I am sure I won't be too disappointed.

  15. i can't wait for Sunday!!! i have no idea what i will do until season 3...also just read that Eric and the Queen are dating in real life!!

Really! She was dating Marilyn Manson in real life.

  16. Hello All! I feel off the face of the earth for a bit. I have been trying to pop in and see what is going on but I am a tad out of the loop. I think checking the spread sheet should help. I hope that those of you still waiting hear soon. This week is symbolic for the beginning of hard work. I hope this applies to USCIS....summer is over!

Our update is this: We have relocated to NYC. I took a teaching job and quit the job with in two weeks. The principal was crazy and under paying the teachers. Through teacher friends I have found several other positions. I am hoping to start a job at a elementary school this week but there is a hold up at Human Resources because the public school system in NYC is under a hiring freeze. If this doesn't work out I have a few other leads. Balvino is starting a English class at Hunter College today and looking for work. So much happened in a matter of weeks that I had to cut myself off from VJ. Things are slowing down a bit now.

Good Luck to all. Off to check out the spread sheet
