  1. I do not know what is going on but I do know that VJ has made me feel better. I called the USCIS a few weeks ago and they told me the processing time was an additional 220 days to the 6 months. I couldn't believe it and cried on the phone to the man at the the office. According to the timelines here this is not the case. I am waiting patiently and hoping for the best. I think they are not updating the processing times for a reason. The last update was Sept. They do not know what is going on and do not want to start a wave of calls.

  2. How do you know if you've been touched? I see on a lot of timelines that they have been touched, sometimes several times! Is this something they tell you on the USCIS website, or do they send you an email? Thanks!!

Go to the USCIS and check your case status (with your number on your NOA1)

sign up to the site for email updates.

You can create a profile and log in to check for updates...I don't think they send you emails regarding touches. I had to ask VJ the same question. I had an update on the 18th of October a few days after I received my NOA1. As far as I now this is a touch. I am new to this. Good Luck!!

  3. when i first started our k1 visa in july Vermont was wayyyyyyyy faster.

It goes that way many times..sometimes VCS is faster one month then CSC is faster...all luck of the draw mate.

I know I know but I miss my fiancée. I just got back from seeing him and it has made the waiting worse. Two weeks was not enough time with him. Ohh well I hope the times improve soon there are so many August filers to go through yet.

    Just waiting........... sigh

I just checked the Timeline Stats http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/monthl...=2&sortby=2

If you compare VSC to CSC...you will see that VSC has almost 3 times as many applications to work on than CSC. In October VSC has 87 and CSC has 37. This is according to what is recorded here on VJ.

This may be the reason for delay.

Blah!! :dead: I am just hoping for the best.

Ohh I know that VSC has more applications so I know the wait time will be longer than CSC that's not what is frustrating me. What really gets me is that CSC has processed more applications (50 or so) in the past week than VSC (20). Maybe VSC is just taking the whole month of January off and things will speed up in a couple of weeks. Trying to stay positive about this because from what I understand once we get the NOA2 things move much faster.

I see...I am in the same boat. I do hope once they get going it is fast.

  5. You will see the date change on the portfolio section. I never got update emails, the only email I ever got was the one from CRIS when I got my I-130 approved. My husband got an email for the I-129F and the I-130 but I only got the I-130 email. Also, we only got touched a few days after we sent our case to USCIS and nothing else until NOA2. Good luck!

Thank you! This site is so helpful... :content:

I checked and I had a 'touch' on the 18th of Oct. a few days after I received my NOA1.

  6. WE got approved on Jan 14 after 3 months of waiting!!! we are so grateful, and we hope the rest of our journey will go this fast..but I'm wondering what steps we need to take next. I know that the case will be sent to NVC then the embassy here in Casablanca...But I'm wondering if there is anything we can do to help our case.

    Robin&Imane

    Congrats :wow:

You are the first October Vermont filer that I know of. Good Luck. You give the rest of us hope. Yeah!!

  7. It means they have done something with your petition. Touching is always good because they are actually doing something but not necessarily doing anything towards approval

Can a touch a day after getting the NOA2 mean they sent it off to the NVC? Or the NVC received it?

Yes, we got NOA2 on 01/12/09 and got a touch on 01/13/09. I think it was the day they sent it off to NVC and they scanned it before it was sent out. It happens to many of us!

How do you know you have been touched? I am assuming that since I am asking this that my case has not been touched. I have not received and email nor is there any information on line with the USCIS. Just curious...

  8. Congratulations!! This is good news for everyone because this means the Vermont office is working a bit faster. I am waiting approval myself. I will be watching your post to see what advice you receive. I would think you could call the USCIS office and ask them. Good Luck with the next step.

Hello VisaJourney! I guess I am what you would call on the radio a "long time listener, first time caller." The examples and outlines on this website are very good as well as the comments and helps found on the forums. It helped me a lot in preparing my I-129F package.

I received a letter in the mail shortly afterward stating that my package was received on August 14, 2008.

On Monday, I received a letter in the mail stating that as of January 9, 2009, the petition has been approved.

My question is...now what do I do? What does she have to do? What comes next?

I've been preparing the affidavit of support (Form I-134). It's already filled out. I am just awaiting on a letter from my job stating that I work there full time, salary, etc (which I should get Thursday) and a letter from my bank (which I should get in 5 business days). After obtaining these evidences, what should I do next?

Any help is very much appreciated. :-)

  9. I am going to ask some stupid questions just to make sure I am on track. So far the only piece of paper I have from Vermont is a I-797C, Notice of Action. I filed all the papers along with the I-129F petition. Is there anything else I should be doing, besides waiting? I see some people have filed a I-130 along with the I-129F...I did not do this. I have read the guides but I am going to read them again right now. I plan on sending more information in because I am now living with my Fiance in Nicaragua for a months while we wait. I figure this can only help prove our relationship.

  10. Hello,

I am so happy to find this thread. I filed my I-129f in Mid-October. I have been watching the processing times closely. There has been no change on the USCIS site for months. I talked to the office last week and they told me that they are very behind and that there is an additional 220 days added on to the original waiting period. I actually cried :crying: on the phone with the agent. He was nice but did not offer any advice but said to call in April. I have found the advice on this forum to be more encouraging. From what I understand the processing times change drastically and sometimes quickly. I hope this is true. I will post what I find out and I hope to see more here later.

    Thanks!

  11. I am in the same boat. I am now in Nicaragua with my Fiance and we are considering bagging the I-129F and getting married here. There are requirements that we need to meet so we are doing some research.

When did you file? I filed in mid-October. I have called the USCIS and they are kind but unable to help. A few people have told me to hold tight because the times change drastically but it is hard to be hopefully when your waiting period doubles. Good Luck. I will try to post any information I come across that maybe helpful.

I am young 23 along with my fiance who is a year younger. We are in the K1 process and missing each other like crazy. We were hoping for a wedding by June or July and I am just so frustrated with the system! Why is VSC SOOOOOOO SLOW??? I am confused? Why can't we get something together and do something? Would it change anything? Sorry I am just very upset and ready to see my fiance along with everyone on here :(

I don't mean to be mean or anything but there are people in here still waitting from August and no answers yet.

Your not being mean...everyone is aware of the waiting times. My fear is that the time has doubled but I hear not to believe what the office says. I wish everyone luck! It would be nice to know what to expect because we are all living our lives waiting.

  13. Thank you for the response. The timeline does seem ridiculous. What is DCF? I will look into both options.

Your estimation for approval seems a bit off. First rule of thumb...don't believe everything you're told. ;)

Have a look at the timelines here and understand that they can change dramatically at any point. Ours took 120 days. Just two months before we filed...some took less than 30 days. ;)

If you have the opportunity to stay with your fiance in her home Country and file for DCF that may be your best option but do your homework and be sure you will meet the new criteria as set by the Adam Walsh Act in her Country.

    good luck whatever you choose.

  14. Hello,

I am a bit new to the visa situation but I am learning quickly. I submitted my I-129F mid-October. When I submitted the petition the waiting time was 6 months but now the waiting time has doubled to 6 months and an additional 220 days. This is what the USCIS office told me. I am a bit frustrated and considering trying a different route. I am currently in Nicaragua, with my Fiance and will be here for a total of four months. If I stay for six months I will have the 6 month requirement for the CR1...this is a new requirement as of 2007. So my questions are: 1. If we decide to marry in Nicaragua is it faster? 2. What is the word on the waiting time for the I-129f?

Any advice or feedback would be welcome. The USCIS office also said I could send in additional information for my application during the waiting period.

I may do this because if I wait a year and they say NO, I would be so upset.

    Thanks...wish me luck!
