  1. Thank you very much folks. I truly appreciate your kind words. I was thinking the same thing Chels, that it's perfect timing for when my fiancée arrives. I want to give her all of my time outside of work. As well, she already has gotten her MA, so I've had a bit of a competitive spirit to get mine before she arrives.

How are wedding plans coming along? Invitations, gowns, gifts, venues? I remember a few of you discussing your plans a while back. I am little concerned to buy the rings until after the interview.

Our wedding plans are kind of on hold at the moment. We are seeing how things go. However he has bought my ring and currently it is sat on my desk in its box. I didn't realise how weighty platinum is. We were going to have a military wedding on base with the saber arch and everything however we now may just have a quick court wedding. To be honest at the moment I can't drum up any enthusiasm at all for wedding stuff.

I feel the same. I am thinking about getting married right away when we get to the states and then just throwing a big party in June. I can still buy a cute dress and do a silly reenactment. I really just want to get all the stupid paperwork out of the way. Is that silly?

  2. A bit off topic but related to the college dorm comment; I am just wrapping up my electronic portfolio for Johns Hopkins. Each teacher in the Master's program must create an online portfolio that highlights your teaching ability and content knowledge. It includes uploading nearly 70 pieces of evidence to support your written essays. I just emailed the link to my advisor and shall wait to hear back. Hopefully there is little or nothing to change, as the deadline is tomorrow night and my presentation for it is in less than two weeks. Once this is done I just have about a month more of classes, albeit very light courseload, so really this is my last big assignment before graduation.

Wow! Congrats. I had no idea you had all that going on. You have been a very busy person. Good Luck with the professors. Thinking about going back to school for a second Masters or even a PHD. Living in Boston right now gives me a few options.

So I started a group and I can edit it so I need some feedback.

Chelsea you gotta get back on Facebook...for the group.

BTW Our interview is this Wed and Balvino is really freaking out. So funny since that has been my job for the past few months. He keeps going over the dates that we traveled together...as if we made it all up yesterday

  3. So that means that I'm the only regular who fell into the black whole??? :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

Your app may be "delayed", but I'm sure it will get there.

How about it people, we are going to stay around and hold her hand until it does get approved aren't we?

What about me???? Dont leave me

Yes Ruby, M&M and everyone else still waiting we are still prayig for you and are here for you for support. If it wasnt for VJ I dont know how I would have made it this far so I am going to stick around knowing that I can still get great advise and hoping that I can help someone else.

Awe thats really nice lovesponge Thankyou.... How are you?

I am ok, I lost the pregnancy though it was a little hard but it was very early so I am getting over it. It was weird I took 3 pregnancy tests on Saturday and Sunday and they were all positive and I started bleeding on Friday. I called the dr and she said it could be an early loss where during cell division the chromosomes were abnormal and it ended the pregnancy she said it was very common but most women dont even realize it because their period is late but then it comes just a lot heavier??? I dont know but hopefully my boo will be here soon so we can keep trying

I am so sorry. This is very common, more than most people think. You sound like you have a good perspective on the situation but regardless it is hard.

This site has been amazing and we are all going through the same thing. It is like living in a virtual college dorm. The waiting the excitement and disappointment is shared by everyone. If you feel alone in your waiting just remember that we have all been there. I still check the list and get excited for a good day and annoyed at the slow days. BTW That date of the 23rd is still there...who do I email? I am into the Facebook idea and lets create a group something like 'I lived through a Visa Journey and live to tell' OK that name is really bad. Any ideas? I will create the group but I need a good name.

    Visa Journey support Group?

Arrgghh I am rubbish with stuff like that anyone else??? I think it's a great idea though!!!

I will create the group next week but lets wait for a few more suggestions...I like yours though.

Congrats!!! Celebrate. I hope your daughter has recovered.

  7. Congrats to those who are getting more movement on their cases!!

I am counting down the month til the interview and then hopefully just one more week til we get married! I'm really nervous about the interview and we still have 31 days to go!!!!

Either way, hope everyone is having a lovely day (and wanted to bump this forum to the front page lol)! It's raining here and I think it's going to rain for almost the whole next week, but hopefully it will soon be sunny!!!!!!!

Have you booked the wedding? Just in case they do any additional processing after the interview. I'm sure it will all go smoothly though.

We are just going to have the judge marry us on April 20th at 4pm, and then we'll have a reception sometime this summer. It's not like we have put down a down payment or anything. We made an appointment but they told us we can cancel at any time, no penalty.

winifredbee, I really want to buy Josue's ticket too to return with me but we will wait until after he has his visa in hand. Since his interview is on the 13th (one month from today!!), he should hopefully get his visa either that same day or on the 14th, so we have til the 19th to buy his ticket to return with me. Glad to hear Balvino is healthy!!!

Your wedding plan sounds like a good idea. We may do something similar. We just scheduled our interview for the 18th. Sooner than we hoped for...yeah! Balvino is so relieved to have the medical over but his bottom is a little sore:) Wish us luck for the 18th I think we are ready.

Good luck to all! Has that date of the 23rd on the list been fixed yet? It is making crazy.

Nope, it sure hasn't lol! Shoot a PM to Captain Ewok and he'll fix it. We don't need you going crazy! We need you to tell us how the interview goes so we can all prepare ourselves! LOL.

edit: Just wanted to add that poor Josue has a sore bottom too!!! Hopefully they will soon have not-so-sore nalgas lol! Do they use that word in Nica or is that regional?

 Yes it is nalga here too.

  9. I am so tempted to buy Balvino's ticket but I should wait. Good luck to everyone! Keep the updates coming.

I'm with you on waiting. I've read several posts by people who bought tickets or made wedding plans and then had problems because the process went on hold for some reason.

I know! I can not wait to have visa in hand and be done with it but I am excited to be here with him during the process. I feel lucky.

I am so happy to hear all the good news and see movement again. It was getting a little quiet. Congrats to everyone getting approvals and moving forward in the process. Yesterday Balvino had his medical and he passed. Yeah!! I am now waiting to hear about the date of our interview. The embassy here is pretty quick. I am so tempted to buy Balvino's ticket but I should wait. Good luck to everyone! Keep the updates coming.

  11. Is there anyone with the 2nd NOA received on March who knows if their case reached London Consulate already?

I got my NOA2 on Feb 24th and don't know if it's at the Embassy yet.

My family emailed me a copy of a letter from the Bureau of Consular Affairs stating that the NVC had sent out my case and it should reach the embassy with in a week. It included both case #s and what looks like a bar code. I don't know if they received the NOA2 or not...I will ask. Any one else get a letter like this?

Just talked to my family and its sounds like they do not have my NOA2 yet...very strange.

  13. Oh no, thats right!! of cours they wont accept it.. :(

We didn't know that we would fill out K1 last summer when we met eachother first time, which was the evidence that we sended in..

We sended in boarding passes, itinary, pictures of us with me and him but also with my family..

nothing really more we had, no atm machine withdraws or anything, no hotel receipts, we were in my house..

oh no, what are we gonna do :'(

I could get my parents to write that they met him also last summer, but it will take 7 days for him to get the letter and they need it before 7th april or something..

I know it is hard but try to stay positive. I would try to dig up whatever you can and even resend the same photos in black and white or with borders or something. Maybe they will think it is something new...who knows with these people. I created a timeline with photos and sent additional info later because I decided to move to Nica to be with my SO, after we filed. I don't know for sure if they received the extra info. Good Luck! Sounds like your getting the royal treatment but don't let them get you down.

  14. Totally off topic but I just had a brand new haircut to make me feel better and I think it worked! It's a bit different but easy to look after.

I know what you mean, "the hair high" you get after you have been to the salon! :star:

That makes me want to go!

I think I needed some colours put in too, but I'll save that for another day. The salon's are so expensive where I live.

I am so jealous! I am hundreds of miles away from the women that cuts my hair and I am way over due for a touch up. I would love a day at the salon right now.

  15. You must include ALL applicable schedules for your tax returns to be considered complete. If all you had were 1040 and W-2's, so be it, but if there are any other forms you sent in, they should be included as well (otherwise it would not be a complete tax return).

Thanks again! It seems like a lot of paperwork. I am looking forward to being done with this process.

Speaking of paperwork, I was looking over the AOS package requirements the other day..... :ranting: more forms

and photocopies...bla bla bla :crying: I guess the process wont really end until Naturalization :)

I know! It is best to keep track of everything but take this one step at a time. I am looking at getting his SSN and then I will start to look at the rest. I can not handle it all at once...it makes me crazy. :bonk:

  17. The difference between using the tax return vs. tax transcripts is that the return includes Forms 1040, W-2 and 1099, (plus all other accompanying schedules) whereas the transcript is free, ordered from the IRS, and is usually just a page or two long. Some find obtaining and sending copies of the transcript easier. I have transcripts from 2006 and 2007, but a copy of my return from 2008.

I mailed everything to my fiancée on Friday. She should have the rest of Packet 3 ready in two week's time to send in. We're hoping on an April interview date.

Thanks...your right. I looked and the 1040 is the first set of papers in my return. I am just going to submit those with my W2s...do you need both the 1040 and the W2s?

  18. Got a question about the I-134...I got copies from the IRS of my tax transcripts for 2006, 07, and 08. Only in 07, 08 did I meet the minimum requirements, and I still do at the same job. Do you think I should just leave 06 transcripts out? I've seen recomendations for 3 years, but what the embassy sent us was this:

    2. Impuestos Federales (Formularios 1040 y W-2) Fotocopias de los impuestos federales pagados por su prometido(a) en los últimos dos años.

which says Federal Taxes (Forms 1040 & W-2) Photocopies of paid federal taxes by your fiance in the last 2 years.

Do you think I should even use the tax transcripts or just literally photocopy my 1040 and W-2 for 2007 and 2008???

After writing all this out, I feel like it's a dumb question with an obvious answer: forget the tax transcripts, just copy your 1040 & W-2 from 07 and 08, but opinions are welcome! (where's the smiley for pulling your hair out?!?!?)

I am planning to include taxes from 05, 06, 07. I have not filed my 2008 yet because I have been in Nica. I did mine on Turbo Tax so I was able to go to their website and down load each year. I am including all the pages, is that too much. I am also including information about the money I have saved in my pension and TDA...retirement funds. I am getting a letter from my employer. They are going to hire Balvino too once he can work, should I have them write a letter for him too? It is fun gathering all this info but nerve racking as well. Is there a thread about getting ready for the interview?

  19. HI VJers! HERE'S MY TIMELINE

    OCT. 27, '08 - PETITION SENT

    OCT. 29, '08 - NOA1 HARD COPY RECEIVED

------FILED FOR EXPEDITE PROCESS ------- DENIED!

    MARCH 04, 09 - NOA2 RECEIVED IN EMAIL/USCIS WEBSITE

----STILL WAITING FOR THE HARD COPY OF NOA2-----

AND I WONDER WHAT IT CONTAINS...CAN ANYONE HERE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IT CONTAINS? I JUST WANT TO PREPARE AHEAD OF TIME YOU KNOW...AND I KNOW YOU KNOW THE FEELING. TY!

Good question. I am in Nicaragua so I have not seen mine. I think my family will send it to me next week. From what I understand the embassy will provide the information.

  20. When I called yesterday, the representative with whom I spoke (all of whom have been very polite), said "Sir we just received it on Tuesday. You might want to wait until at least next week to call back to check on the status."

I responded "Yes, I understand ma'am. Thank you very much."

Just got an itch, a feeling, to call back today and voila!

I am getting so excited for my fiancée! Can't wait for her interview, as she's one step close to me. She is excited also, which is my great joy.

For some reason I find this poem by ancient Chinese poet, Tu Fu, apt.

    Moonlit Night

Tonight at Fu-chou, this moon she watches

Alone in our room. And my little, far-off

Children, too young to understand what keeps me

Away, or even remember Chang'an. By now,

Her hair will be mist-scented, her jade-white

Arms chilled in its clear light. When

Will it find us together again, drapes drawn

Open, light traced where it dries our tears?

Just called NVC they sent out our case yesterday...Wow! So excited! We can most likely get the ball rolling next week.

  21. Well I dropped Tom off at the airport this morning, he was really excited as he is finally going back to the US to live and work after being away for 4 years. As for me I'm practially crippled at the moment due to a problem with my knee. I can't get a phsyio appointment until the end of March but I don't think I can cope till then. Has anyone tried acupunture? I might consider it if it gets any worse.

Never tried it but I have heard great things. I hope you feel better.
