Updating... Today I became a US citizen!!!

I had a great interview experience yesterday. Everyone, from the people at security to the Officer who interviewed me, was super friendly. The interview lasted about 15 minutes.

And the Oath Ceremony today was a great experience. We were 87 people from 44 countries. It lasted about 1.5 hours, and there were some very touching speeches (and tons of photographing ;-)

I've started studying for the civics test (in between Christmas cooking!) and have a question I was hoping someone could help me with. For questions with multiple answers (that DON'T specify to give only one answer) do you have to learn all possible answers? An example would be "What does the judicial branch do?" If asked, is it enough to answer "reviews laws"? Or are you expected to answer reviews laws, explains laws, resolves disputes, and decides if a law goes against the Constitution?

As far as the outfit, I went for business casual, a button up shirt, jeans, dress shoes with a low heel (lesser chance of me tripping over thresholds

Though others I saw there, ranged from suits for men and women, to someone in a tank top sneakers and jeans.

Did someone really wear a tank top? Well, not an option here in January. Just recently got back from a trip to Tucson. We were able to have Thanksgiving dinner outside. So nice!

Just got back from my interview in Sacramento. I passed it. I will have the Oath next months.

What did you guys wear to your interview? A suit? (I know... very important question ;-)

Got email \text status update that I was scheduled for the interview. No actual notice yet, but guess need to start learning for it ;-)

I see few folks are inline for the interview but the date field is empty. The INS sends you text stating that you are inline for interview, but they do not give you the interview date? Is that what is going on?

To be in line means you're placed in line for interview scheduling and should receive an interview date and place within 90 days of being placed in line.

I know! Kind of weird we all got it on the same day.

In addition to all passports and state-issued driver's license, mine says to bring original IRS form and documents establishing my marital union. Did everyone else get this? What are you guys planning on bringing? Just tax returns, insurance policies, mortgage payments, etc, or also holiday photos and such? I only sent tax returns with my application.

Got my yellow letter today, too!

did biometrics sept 2. still waiting for interview schedule. however yesterday , got letter telling me to bring the ff documents to the interview :

has anyone encountered the same thing?

Could it be the "yellow letter" you get before your interview letter?

Was put in line for Interview. Updating with date. Additionally, I did not receive any text message or email notification, just checked the status on the USCIS website at random and found out that I was put in line.

Claytlin--that's fast! So you don't know the date yet, just that you're in line? I wonder if we'll have our interviews this year. Judging by other months timelines, we might! :-)

BTW, is anyone else changing their name? Someone told me the process takes longer then. I'm guessing the waiting won't be longer for an interview, but between interview and oath...

When are you guys planning to start studying for the civics test portion of the interview? I'm thinking after biometrics should be enough time?

Hi Lexis300! I am a September filer as well. Sent my N-400 to Lewisville today! Your list sounds about right. I'm applying on the basis of marriage, so I also included tax return transcripts, marriage cert, etc.

Just a question to those that have filed N-400. The document checklist states that you should include tax returns / IRS-certified copies of income tax / IRS tax return transcript. The "Thinking about Applying for Neutralization" however says to bring certified tax transcripts for the interview.

What did you guys do? Did you just send tax returns and then order certified tax transcripts for the interview, or order the certified tax transcripts already when applying?

Hi, all!

I'm planning to apply for Naturalization in August, and was hoping someone could help me with a few questions regarding Form N-400:

Part 2. Information about you. #2 Your name EXACTLY as it appears on your Permanent Resident card.

My middle name doesn't appear fully on my green card, just the first letter. But I'm assuming I should still write out my middle name, not just a letter?

Part 7. Information about your employment.

I've been a homemaker for the last five years. I'm thinking I'll put N/A in employer, Homemaker as occupation, and no need to supply address? (same as home address, obviously)

Part 8. Time outside the US.

Now I know this is a bit silly, but how did you count the days? Did you include the day of return? (i.e. 10/21-10/25 as 4 or 5 days)

Also, with regards to the passport style photo... Is this the photo that will actually end up in my passport? (I'm a bit vain and have had my share of horrific passport photos so would want to make sure this is a good one...
