hey guys,
just checking in to say hello and tell you i miss you all! i know i am getting divorced and no longer coming to America, but i still miss coming and reading about your journeys each day, so i am popping in now and then to let you know i am thinking of you all.
as i got to the end of the process, before realising that it was wrong for me and my life ahead, it was still a big part of my life and i have made some great friends here.. so i just wanted to say good luck and best wishes to everyone with a December interview and my June filer buddies too!
xoxox
news on my front, i am doing okay, and i am organising the divorce from here in Australia, because hubby hasnt been very helpful with that part... and i have no idea how divorce works in America.
well, take care!!

Contact the county government in the county he lives in (it is usually done at the county level, but it might be at the state level in his state, but the county can get you started). At least here in Washington, they are very helpful about providing information on the procedure.

No interview for me either. Customer service just read from a script. He did say they would be scheduling January interviews next week and depending on capacity at the consulate in Lima... I hate it when they leave the implication that I should consider myself lucky and that I might not get a date in January even... The longer I do this whole thing, the more ludicrous it all seems.

Feel I'm goin back to Massachusetts
Somethings telling me I must go home
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
The day I left her standing on her own
Tried to hitch a ride to San Francisco
Gotta do the things I wanna do
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
They brought me back to see my way with you
Talk about the life in Massachusetts
Speak about the people I have seen
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
And Massachusetts is one place I have seen
I will remember Massachusetts
I'm going home for Thanksgiving!
Aww Scot, I totally forgot! When do you fly out? Have a great time-and your mom's going right?
I'll miss my Finn on Thanksgiving, even though we've never spent it together! I'm going to a family gathering of about 22 people...but I'm thankful I'll see him two weeks from this Saturday!!!
i was wondering the same thing. hoping it was from his daughter or something like that. was one of the few pics i could find with him as a blondie.at scotinmass
everywhere i turned this weekend, i saw johnny depp. he was on tv as a marathon. went to the store and saw one of his dvds, then went to the movie rental, and he was playing on their screens. can't be upset with thatI collect sea glass and one of my jewelers that I sell to made a necklace for Johnny Depp, and he had it on at an event... So Johnny Depp has a piece of the glass that I collected... I know, sounds silly but I was very impressed whith that!!!
That's cool Christeen! It's almost like YOU touched his neck! Swoon!
Oh, Johnny Depp needs to dye his hair blonde for this role...
that can be arranged
Oh! If only I was gay!
What's going on with the cute heart bracelet and wrist sweat band?
Uh, who was he playing again? The dude who lent me his cell phone at the train station in the middle of nowhere?
I wish we could through Richard Dreyfuss in somewhere!!!!
Wow, I must be tired. I meant THROW!
Throw Dreyfuss from the Train!!!!

I have a train story beyond all others. It all started when we left my in-laws in July to go back to Helsinki for a night and catch our prospective flights. Little did we know that the train conductor would give absolutely no warning, and while the Finn Man was outside of the train saying goodbye to his parents, the doors closed and the train zoomed off with me and the luggage and no husband with me on the train. I had no cell, no train ticket, hardly any euros...
A motorcycle gang guy offered to help me out, but he literally fell on the floor in a drunken stupor as he was welcoming me to Finland (even though I was leaving Finland)...
More to come...
As the train departed, my hubby literally ran along it, and I frantically tried to hit the open door button to no avail. I started crying as I saw his frantic face. Then all of a sudden, zoom, the train took off, leaving him behind.
I left the luggage and ran about five cars down like a psycho American chick! Not one single person spoke English. I found the train conductor. He spoke no English. My year of Finnish classes didn't help. He got some guy coming out of the bathroom to translate. Basically no, he couldn't stop the train! I had my pocket PC to get my hubby's cell # (which I can never memorize!). I wrote it down. My pocket PC died. I tried calling from the conductor's phone, then realize that in my panic and through my tears I missed a digit. So I still couldn't call him...
We both had flights leaving the next morning from Helsinki...
Finally the conductor's phone rang. My hubby and his dad had gone into the train station, and they in turn called the mean conductor. He told me to get off in three stops (through the bathroom guy who suddenly became a translator). I went back to the luggage but was still frantic. I then realized that there was no way I could get the luggage off the train by myself. And that's where the drunk "Welcome to Finland" motorcycle gang guy came into the picture...
Now who will play him in the movie?
More later...
So...the drunk "Welcome to Finland" Robert Downey motorcycle gang guy said he'd help me in his drunk Finnish accent. This was the only time I laughed on this damn train. He pulled his tshirt out from his body and said, "Welcome to Finland!" Then he asked if I was from Australia, which was so ironic because that's where I met the Finn Man in 1988. Like I have an Australian accent? HUH? Well anyway, he then fell against the wall. Then he fell to the floor. Of course, remember that I had no train ticket so I had no clue where my seat was, so I was stuck between cars with two suitcases, a backpack, a shopping bag, etc...well, everything but my hubby who was miles (kilometers!) away by then...so, here I am standing with all this ####### and a drunk felon rebel at my feet. He stared up at me and smiled. I laughed so hard! Finally, after minutes tick by and I hear them calling out a stop (in Finnish of course, so all I hear is blah blah blah), and I'm counting to three stops...so 20 minutes later I think I hear the stop I was supposed to get off at. Right after that the mean conductor comes by and motions that he'll carry my bags off (oh, beforehand he refused to help me thru the bathroom guy translator, hence the mean conductor name).
I had a fear of a "lost in translation" moment-thinking that maybe instead they told me my hubby would get ON the train in three stops. But I figured if the mean conductor came by and grabbed my bags, I needed to get off the train there. But then again, he was so mean that he could be tricking the poor crying American. Well, I got off the train at the 3rd stop...in the middle of nowhere in Finland...
Now who will play the super mean conductor who can't speak English?
The Sweedish Chef. Sure he's a muppet but it would be funny!
I don't think he could be mean enough!!
I've heard he is a mean drunk, though, ya sure, you betcha.

Egypt is a popular holiday destination for Brits. They have occasional terrorist attacks but name a country that doesn't!
Liechtenstein??
Mark
Ok be honest. Did you have to look up how to spell that?
I would point out that I went to University in Germany. But I have to be honest and admit:
BUSTED!!!

The AVR now says case complete. I have the medical out the way and I have had a fair bit of interest in my house. If someone would just make a half decent offer and I get an interview date mid January then I will be on my way home to Massachusetts and I really will be a Scot in Mass!
In Lima they won't let you do the medical until you have an appointment letter in hand...

I haven't seen MsSheka in ages. I hope she's hangin' in there...

For y'all who've gotten appointments already: did NVC send you something with this on it, or did you just find out by phone? The reason I ask is that for Lima, my wife needs an appointment letter to show before they will let her schedule a medical appointment. So, I need to know if NVC will be getting me said letter, of if I will need to coordinate with the consulate in Lima. As always, TIA.
Mark
Mark, I actually get to help you!!!! We got our appt. letter via email last Friday, a few hours after the operator told me about our interview date. The appt. letter give you info regarding the interview.

Coolness. Thanks Finn... So, later this week we will finally be able to schedule the medical appts... I wonder how much I will get to spend on vaccinations

yeah, same here. immigration gives me headaches. only time i haven't had them lately is when i do not speak of it. but unfortunately, i am constantly thinking about it. husband tells me i think too much, and tries to change the conversation
Tell me, why is it that the guys are the ones that are generally more relaxed about all this? I sent him the DS-230 package minus photos becaue he said he still had some US-style passport photos of me...now he says he doesn't, but hey, it's no big deal just go take some more and send them when you have...if it were that easy to take US-style photos here I would have done!!
Well, I am a dude and I am totally obsessed. But then I tend to obsess.....
Mark
Don't worry, Mark, we will get there...I hope!! Which stage are you at now? We're still waiting for them to accept the DS-3230, and sent the I-864 the same day it was generated. By the way, my husband always boasts of American efficiency - I immediately emailed the DS-3230 back using the template here, and also sent in the hardcopy 'official' version using priority posting, must be signed for etc. It left the UK the same day and was in the US the next, but 7 days later it still hasn't been delivered. Very efficient
Waiting for my sign on failure...
