  1. Hi, i just want to know, If I can still travel outside the US and come back without problem even though my 2 year green card will expire this coming March 08, 2010.

I already apply for the lifting status and done my biometric last february 16. Do I need to wait for my another green card first before i will go travel outside the US?

Please , ... i really need an answer for this.

    Jane

DO NOT travel after the expiration of your green card. You can travel even without your green card as long as you have your 1 yr. extension letter while waiting for your 10 yr,.card.

In short you can travel even if your green card is already expired as long

as you have with you the 1 yr. extension letter when u filed your Removal of condition.

  2. Thanks for your immediate reply... I am really relieved and congratulations to you.

Anyway, did you bring the documents to prove of your singleness during the interview? to contradict that of the birth certificate? What kind of documents did you present?

I already had my interview and they just wanted me to submit the bc of my child, however my worry is that I won't be there to defend that mistake or hand over the documents/proof since they requested the BC directly from the Census (I'll request for the b.c. then pay and us embassy person will pick it up) and they won't allow me to insert an explanation letter or other supporting documents proving that I and my girlfriend are both single.

Is it possible to personally hand-over my birth certificate at the embassy and bring along additional documents for proof of being single? How can I make that appointment?

Thanks and I really appreciate your reply...

As of now we are still on the I-864 and Ds-230 stage so no interview sched yet. USCIS asked for my annullment since the father's name was on the kid's birth cert. and that there was date and placeo f marriage too. All i submitted was my proof of singleness like the Certificate of No marriage from NSO and the affidavit of explanation of the situation.

  3. hi there vern! as far as SPA, if you indicated an expiration on it (excat date or implied), that's the end of its effectivity.

    otherwise, it's still good

i'm not sure about other docs though :)

Thank you Zen..the documents did not say any expiration date but only the date it was authenticated. It only says this document is not valid if altered in any way.

Still don't know if i need to get a new one since this was all authenticated last year.

by the way one document is still good till May 2014.

  4. Hello fellow members of VJ,

I would like to ask a quick question. I sent my mom who is the legal guardian of my kids all the needed authenticated documents like Special Power of Attorney, and other documents who are all authenticated in March of 2009.

My question is next month will be MArch..would this documents be still valid? or Do i need to get a new one? My mom still needs this papers for the kid's interview and medical in Manila anytime from now.I mean is there an expiration of such documents once the date it was authenticated expires??

Thank you again to you all in advance.

  5. Greetings,

I am petitioned as a single and unmarried person...

I have certificates that I am single and my girlfriend whom I had a child is also single.

I listed my child as "to follow later".

I had my interview and the embassy seeks the birth certificate of my child which I didn't have with me. I guess I passed the interview.

    History:

My gf's mother who's already old, filled-up the birth certificate of my child and indicated a "date of marriage" thinking so that the child can have my surname. But in

reality, the child can use the father's surname even if not married.

I signed the birth certificate and didn't notice the date, (my mistake).

How would the embassy treat this case?

Will i be immediately denied when I submit this birth certificate?

Will they do an investigation first?

Correcting this mistake will take me months... are there any faster ways to resolve this?

Your help will be greatly appreciated...

My kid's Birth certificates has the name of the biological father,,date and place of marriage but as of now we got the approval of the I-130 petition. The most important thing is you can prove that you and the mother of your child was not married legally.

  7. Hello Fellow VJ members,

Hope you all are fine in God's grace. Just wanna ask a quick question with regards to my mom who is the legal guardian of my kids in the Philippines.

In time for the kid's interview and Medical exam..i may not be able to accompany my kids becoz of my work. My mom is the legal guardian and she has all the affidavit or SPA authorizing her to represent in behalf of me.

My question is..do i need to have my mom get her own passport? My mom is not travelling outside the Philippines.. so is it needed to get one for her??

    I would appreciate any help.

  8. hi guys! this is for all the Filipinos who got their visas approved and have left the country recently. do i have to go to the CFO seminar that the embassy told me to go to? is that really mandatory? the brochure says that "under DFA dept orders....Filipino spouses and OTHER PARTNERS OF FOREIGN NATIONALS are required to attend..." they said that this is for the first time travellers. i mean do i really have to go here and spend hundreds of pesos again for this?? do i really need to get that certificate and stamp in my passport?? or its ok if i just disregard this? will the Philippine customs mind this? pls help. thanks!!!

    Yes you should.

  9. Moving here in United States is hard for me especially here in Michigan. Why I say this? Everything is new for me. I need to adjust in everything, from food, weather, culture, language, etc. It`s my first year of my residency here in MI, but still I can`t get around without my husband. Transportation here are mostly cars, not like in other state they have some subway trains, there are some public transportation here like taxi and buses but they pass by only in the main street. So, I was forced to learn to drive. I am in my 5months now of my driving lessons and it is really hard. Oftentimes when I am practicing, my husband and I keep on yelling each other, well , he was scared with me when I am on the road. Well, not just him, if he is scared I am more scared because accident happends everywhere. I am still hesitant to drive because almost 6 months ago my mom died in vehicular accident. But what do I do? I need to drive. I am just forcing myself even I don`t like to do it or else I will always be hibernating here in the house in my entire life here. I want to work soon and do some errands on my own.

In my driving lessons, this DVD - Rules of the Road really help me. We can`t afford to enrol in Driving School so we decide just to have this instructional video. Now, I can drive in some free ways with my husbands` supervision of course. I`m a little bit nervous but I have to pursue this for my own sake. For those new drivers like me try to look at it and it will help you in many ways. Hoping to have my road test this spring. I am hoping I can be confident enought to do that.

For more information about this, please visit my blogs at Netscot Corner

Thank You and have a nice day everyone!

    . God bless!

Thanks for sharing this. I enrolled in adriving school as well.. but for only a few hrs..did not help me at all . I still recommend the best way i learned how to drive.

I play the driving assimilation game in my husband's xbox everytime i get a chance to..and without knowing it..i was surprised myself when i first drive in my car..as if i been driving for years.

Now am glad my hubby forced me to play his driving assimilation game,,if not i can not drive my self to and back from work.

  10. Hello People of VJ,

Went to USCIS office in Atlanta today with regards to the wrong data in my 10 yr. green card. The representative i talked to said I have to send my card to the USCIS Vermont by filing the I-90 form.

He checked my information in the computer and i asked him if i have to pay the replacement fee of $370 and he said "NO".

How will i know if he is right or not? I don't have the copy of the I-751 form i sent them.SHould i just send my card to the Vermont office? What about the stamp in my passport?

How will i get my passport stamped while waiting for the card replacement if i send it back?

Please i would appreciate any ideas you can share. Thanks so much.

  11. Thanks,oh really they required you for a DNA test?you mean Php650.00 or $650?I never put in my mind that we will require a DNA test coz i believe we have every evidence to prove our genuine relationship and we have all the Documents to prove that our baby is her daughter, but my fiance is prepared just in case but i hope NO DNA test...A lot of Filipina too that i have talked too, they passed it without DNA test, they said its a case to case basis, once the consul is not satisfied with your documents and evidences then they will for sure require DNA!But thanks anyway for the information....God Bless

It is a big possiblity that u will be required to have a DNA test especially that u are not married to the father of ur child yet. But it all depends on the CO. When i had my interview..some had to do the DNA testing married or not to the fahter of the CRBA applicant.

  12. Thought we'd post this to the group for comment. There's oft-repeated discussions regarding what's the best way to send money to the Phils, so we don't need to rehash this again. My question is to those who have availed of the various methods to direct deposit funds into an ATM peso account at a Philippine bank via any means (we use PNB Rapid Remit).

After my asawa arrived in the USA in April 2007, we had her father travel to the nearest big city with a PNB branch office (her family lives in the remote provinces) to open a peso ATM account. He needed to provide substantial documentataion to open this account. We think it is an ATM only account, but really are not sure. We make regular deposits to this account taking note of PNB's exchange rate vs the actual international exchange rate, which is usually a bit less. We also are assessed a small transaction fee on the front end, which is much less than the typical fees charged by WU. The money usually is available for use in Phils within 2-4 days.

Here's the problem. A family member travels to the ATM at the branch office to withdraw funds. They've been told not to withdraw the entire amount sent since that would result in account closure due to a low balance, so usually the amount withdrawn is around 200 pesos less than the deposit. They had expected that over time (nearly 3 years), there would be a growing balance. Recently we learned from them that it had not been growing at all. I've asked my asawa to inquire of her family if they had been saving any of the ATM receipts (not usually, I'm told), so we really don't have any basis for complaining when we go back to visit her place in March.

    Does anyone know the following:

    - Is there a monthly account maintenance fee for a PNB ATM account?

    - Is there a minimum account balance required to avoid a low balance fee?

    - Is there a transaction fee for the ATM withdrawal if a PNB ATM is used?

    - Does the ATM withdrawal receipt have the account balance shown?

    - Is it possible to get an account balance report at the ATM before the withdrawal?

I know they need to be lots more diligent about where the cash is going. I had been feeling pretty good about the experience, and now am wondering if it actually does make more sense to use another means of sending money. The hidden fees and costs seem to be negating any possible advantage. I can't call PNB to discuss the situation since it's not my account.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Thanks,

    M&M

-I am sure when the account was opened the account holder was informed of the transaction fees, maintaining balance, minimum balance etc., etc.

    - Yes there is account maintennance fee in some banks.

    _ Yes

-NO- if the transaction is within the same bank (PNB Banks) no matter what branch.

Yes the ATM receipts shows the balance you have in your account.

    - YEs the account balance shows in the atm receipts.

-Not sure about this but i think You can get the report from the PNB branch where the account was opened.

I am using Moneygram for 7 yrs. now and they get the money in just minutes not days. It's just like WU only lower charges.

  13. We received the forms from air21 and already start gathering all the necessary documents for the CRBA application of our daughter. To those who experienced filing CRBA for their daughter out of wedlock, What are all the forms that my fiance have to fill up and have to be notarized, just a bit confused here. And after we are done with everything and call for courier pick up,Am i suppose to put there all the documents that they only sent?and the rest in the interview?like my fiance passport, birth certificate, photos, proof of pregnancy and all other supporting documents?Sorry I have so many questions, just want to make sure of every little detail...

One more thing can my fiance just download the forms, instead of me sending them in Fedex and spend $$...

    Thanks (F)

follow the instructions stated in the checklist. The forms ur hubby needs to be filled out are the forms u received from the embassy. you can not just download the forms. yes do not send the passport u can bring them during your interview and you need to bring the baby with you too during ur interview. Chances are you might be required to have a DNA test since you are not married to the father of ur child yet.

  14. Im just curious what do you and your wife think about your age difference? Do you you think it could be a problem later in life? What happens when you become an old man and your wife is still a young woman?

My husband is 23 years older than me. When true love is the foundation in your relationship i think age does not matter. We are going on our 3rd year anniverssary and still happy and in love with each other esp with our 18 month old baby boy.

  15. Hello all, I know this may be a silly question but I'd like to ask it anyway.

Is it O.K. to use a yellow highlighter to highlight my wife's and I names and address on our evidence documents and statements?

So far we complied the following documents for our I-751:

2008 tax return. (If we can get our 2009 taxes prepared we will include them also)

    Lease renewal agreements

Credit card account statements for each month since the conditional greencard was granted (May 15, 2008)

Phone, Cable, and Electricity statements for month since Jan. 2009 (Cannot access prior statements)

    Investment accounts (2) Yearly statements

    Checking account statement

Beneficiary form from my wife's employment stating that I am the beneficiary.

Beneficiary form from my wife's newly acquired Roth IRA account stating that I am the beneficiary.

Vehicle title showing joint ownership from car purchased after conditional greencard was approved.

Auto Insurance Declarations for last 2 years showing both names covered

Copies of plane tickets, flight details, Vacation passes such as Universal Orlando

Pictures associated with vacations, friends, and family.

On each of those document and statements have our names and address on them of course. I thought it would help the USCIS investigator/reviewer

if our names and address were highlighted just to make it easier for him or her to locate it on the documents/statements.

Has anyone else done this and if so was there any problem with highlighting? Is it recommended to highlight?

Is there any negative or positive associations with highlighting?

    Thanks.

Never did the highlighting part. I did write my A # on each page of documents I submitted and got approved in less than 5 months.

  16. Hello fellow members,

Thanks for all the replies in my other posts. My question is how will i know if the wrong data on my card is their fault?

I can not find the copy of my I-751 form that I sent them but i did submitted copies of my new and old passport, copy of my 2 yr. green card, copy of my DL and all other documents with correct name on it?

I already filed online the infopass and wil have my appointment on Monday.

  17. "Middle name/single name---Llamera

MARIA LLAMRA SMITH ( letter "A" is missing)"

Seems to me the, the letter "E" has been omitted in your middle name. May not be a big deal if everything else is correct, like your photo, fingerprints, and dates, but would ask about it anyway. If applying for the N-400, would definitely make several copies of it.

Can't recall at what time you have to get up in the morning to make an infopass appointment, always full during the day, they switch at sometime between 2 and 5 AM in the morning where cancellations have been made, a pain in the butt for sure.

We sure had our share of typo's in particular when departments switch over to a computer data base in important documents, Venezuela was extremely expensive, Illinois wasn't, but sure required a lot of proof on my part, think Illinois hired a bunch of second grader's to do the transfer, error after error.

Wasn't there something that came in with your green card in case they made an error?

    Hey thanks for the correction,

  18. Hello fellow VJ'ers,

My friend from the Philippines came here in the US on K1 visa last November 12,2009.Unfortunately,she is not getting marry with her fiancee (petitioner) anymore due to relationship problem. They have a daughter who is 9months old and a US citizen through CRBA.My friend arrived here in the US with her baby. Her problem is,her fiancee doesn't want her to go back to Philippines with their daughter. He said she can stay here in US and they can get marry, stay in the house to be with their baby and just treat each other like friends only..The guy (petitioner) has a girl and my friend found it out just lately. She want to go home as soon as possible before her I-94 expires with her baby.

My question is,how can she get the custody to have her daughter go back to the Philippines? Her fiancee told her that she can't leave with her daughter without custody and he even told her before that if they get marry, they have to do the pre-nuptial.

She told me that her fiancee is taking/using drugs. Her fiancee doesn't hurt him or anything but she doesn't want to stay with him anymore. She's in North Georgia (Flintstone) and don't know anybody who can help her.I told her to go to Atlanta to the Immigration,US Embassy or Phil.Consulate, but the Philippine Consulate that covers Georgia is at Washington,DC.

She don't know how to drive yet,no greencard,no license. She don't know what to do anymore.

Btw,her daughter has a Philippine passport too so her baby is dual-citizen.

Please I need some help or information for her.

Thanks for the advance and speedy answers!!!!!!

That is really avery sad situation. She can call an organization like church to help her. Wish someone can help her with this dilemma..really sorry for her.
