  1. I do not know if you clicked the link, you will see that it said there were many vacancies available at VSC so we might see VSC picking up within a couple of months...

I clicked the link. I'm not USC, I'm removing conditions of my green card. So I can't apply.

Those positions are dated February-March, so if they hired all 40 positions in that timeframe, then we should have already seen VSC picking up.

  2. lol...at least you're a CSC :luv: ...I hope you hear the good news soon...as for VSC the Feb filers are getting approved now, so its a long wait for me :hehe: , I know that the timeline for VSC ..I just don't like waiting and *pending* status

Oh, I hate this waiting too...

I have a friend who was approved for AOS in 3 months and for ROC in 3 months and she didn't care about her case at all - she didn't even set up the online update.

In my case AOS took almost 9 months. ROC is 3 months old. I'm checking the online status 2 times a week even though I know that there is nothing new there since I haven't received an email or text. :bonk:

I just wish I had my friend's patience. :innocent:

  3. some of June filers (CSC) are approved already

I wonder if May filers are not updating their status or what?

3 June CSC filers and 3 May CSC filers are approved - we're even

I think some CSC filers' timeline might not be updated but the majority haven't received the response yet. At least I hope I'm not the only one who hasn't received anything.

  4. my concern is the age-old question of when a petition is considered abandoned. we all know that the biometrics appointment letter explicitly states:

PLEASE APPEAR AT THE BELOW APPLICATION SUPPORT CENTER AT THE DATE AND TIME SPECIFIED. IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED

    .

we certainly are not abandoning the petition and certainly do not want USCIS to think that. i have read through many threads, the majority of which seem to say that there is some flexibility in when the petition is considered abandoned. (i've read a month, i've read three months. i've read that it is in fact a hard and fast date.)

if my husband is expected on tuesday the 9th of august, but is unable to attend, even though we sent a appointment change request, but we haven't received a new appointment date.... what shall i do?

does anyone know whether or not i can phone USCIS to see if the request i sent was indeed received? if not, i suppose i'll just pop in to the ASC and double check in person.

or maybe the new appointment letter will magically appear in the mail tomorrow.

sorry for my fretting. you know how it is. this process can get the best of you.

    (thanks for your response, susie.)

My friend didn't receive her bio during the AOS, however her attorney received a copy of the biometrics letter. When my friend called her attorney, the day of bio was passed by 5-10 days. So my friend just picked up that letter and went the next day for her biometrics - everything went smooth and the case wasn't abandoned.

  5. I don't know but the USPS in TN forwarded my USCIS mail to me to Ohio when we moved.

I heard that sometimes post office can forget about not forwarding government mail. However our post office is not forwarding the government mail as it is supposed to do: we didn't get a DMV letter which came 5-7 days after USPS officially informed us about forwarding. Our sublets mailed us that letter.

  6. My understanding is that if I apply for a re-entry permit at the moment (before getting my 10-year green card), the reentry permit will expire the day my two-year conditional card expires, which is 90 days from now. I need to find a way to get my 10-year green card first. Do you think I can file AR-11 change of address form, and list a new U.S. mailing address (say a friend's address) while residing in Canada, so I can still receive USCIS mail? Would that be a problem? Would it be considered lying or hiding information from USCIS?

I believe USCIS sends all its correspondence to the Residence address, not a mailing address (I know, that's weird).

Thus if you list your friends' address as you place of residence and you don't live there, that would be considered as lying to USCIS.

  7. Just want to update my post so that someone in similar situation would have an answer.

USPS is not forwarding the USCIS mail since there is a stamp "Return Srvc Requested" on each USCIS letter, which means that this letter couldn't be forwarded.

Someone says that only Premium Forwarding forwards all government mail, but it costs 15 dollars per week (therefore 60 dollars a month! ) and everyone knows how slow the USCIS can be with one's application.

Therefore I filed the change of address form and you can specify that the change of address is temporary on the AR-11. However I'm still not sure if I would need to file this form again when I move back.

  9. Hi all, my ROC is actually will be next year mid July, 2012 but I have a question as far as the bank statement goes -

    1. I heard and saw that the financial statement ranges from the date that one got the GC until the ROC date. How you guys do that? Print out a bunch of statements since the conditional gc date? Or print out the date range?

    2. We bought a house, but the house loan/mortgage is in my name. But I did quit claim deed to my wife. Is that okay or she has to be on the loan as well? or the quit claim deed is sufficient?

    1. I print out 4 bank statements for each year since the green card was received.

    2. The more proofs you can provide there is less chance that you will receive RFE or you will be called for the interview. If the loan is in your name, just don't include it.

  10. Just checked the 2010 May filers thread to compare their timelines with ours:

    • VSC applicants were approved much faster than CSC applicants. Most of VSC were approved in July-August 2010 and CSC in August-September 2010.
    • It seems that the wait was caused by biometrics appointments since there are a bunch of Biometrics appointments which were done in August. And in 2-3 weeks after biometrics the approval comes up.

Anyways comparing to the other 2011 timeline's threads the CSC approvals should come soon. I expect the majority of CSC to be approved in late August - early September.

  11. Just an update - my husband's biometrics appointment was on July 11th. The NOA-1 arrived at some point in June while we were in Nepal. I tried to reply and update the list but I was unable to do so. I hope everyone gets good news soon - good luck!!

Pattu Rani, what is the date on your NOA?

    I updated your biometrics appointment.

  12. It seems like whoever applies to I-751 gets approved with or without an interview including the divorced ones. I've visited many forums and message boards like here and heard about maybe a hundred cases but I've never heard of a case that results in denial of the application. What do you think?

By I751 USCIS is just checking that you are still happily married or got married in a good faith for divorced couples. If that was a fraud - it would be discovered during AOS or during visa status for CR-1 applicants.

  13. Not sure that this is the right area of the forum, but here goes...

The bottom line is that I (the male, petitioner of a K1 and two K2 visas) no longer wish to get married to the K1 visa holder. She has been here 15 days and it is a disaster. On top of that I'm 58 and just (last Friday) lost my job of 8 years.

How can I best extricate myself from this situation?

Talk to your bride. Maybe you can solve some issues. She is coming from different country and she has her own habits, so she needs to adjust her life here and you need to adjust to having her and her kids here. Don't forget that she probably left everything in her home country to be with you.

If you don't want to get married, noone can force you to. Thus she would need to go back to her country.

  14. My wife called this morning to inquire about the bio appointment date. They transferred her to USCIS and the lady said that our appointment is July 28, today when we called being July 25. The lady stated that they had mailed out our appointment, but could not give us a day mailed and they had our correct address on file. She did fax us a copy of the appointment letter which is dated June 30, 2011.

She said that the local ASC will accept the faxed copy, but when the fax came through it reads in bold on the top "This is not an original document. Acceptance of this courtesy copy is at the discretion of the receiving office." That to me reads that the to local ASC can thumb their nose at this if they see fit.

Has anyone else used a fax appointment letter or non-original?

    Cheers,

When I went to the ASC to do my immigration, there was a woman who had a copy of her biometrics letter (USCIS sent her a copy instead of original) and they allowed her to do biometrics: I saw the reception lady went to their manager and when she went out she said that' was ok.

Also when I called them about my bio letter, they also said that I can use a faxed copy but I got a letter the next day.

    Hope that helps.

  15. My husband and I temporarily moved to a different address (up to 6 months). We should definitely be back to our apartment in 6 months. We submitted a temporary change of address through USPS, so all our mail is forwarded to our new address.

Do you think we should file change of address forms with USCIS? We're going through removing conditions right now.

We changed the address when we were going AOS but immigration officer who were interviewed us didn't know about it. Thus USCIS is not that prompt in changing the addresses.

My husbands thinks that it would just confuse them and since all our mail is forwarded - we won't miss any important mail.

    Any opinions?

  17. I waited for 32 days for this appointment letter.

I had called USCIS on 31st day to ask about it and they told me that they have already mailed it to me. They were able to give me the date of my appointment and they said that if I don't get it - they could fax or send me another copy.

Don't worry! It's not usual to receive the letter after 30 days, but there are some cases when applicant receive their letter in 60 days.
