  1. Hey Everyone! (F)

    I haven't been around for a bit...crazy times... :star:

We had out AOS interview yesterday and he was approved. We were videoed and recorded...uncomfortable. There were two officers with us in the room...one was in training..he was sweet and the lady that did most of the questioning, although she tried to seem tough, was kind too. :star: They asked tons of questions, from dates, to addresses, to repeating all the questions on the 485 form (terrorist groups, drugs, affiliations, guns, etc.). The interview was about 30 minutes in total. After she finished, she said, we are making a recommendation for your approval and you will recieve you green card in 2-4 weeks.

Thank god its over... :star: Now we wait....

Wishing all of you the best of luck and a Happy Mothers Day to all the Mommy's out there! (F)

    Congratulations!!!!!!

  2. You don't need to give us details. Once you have your green card, you don't need to bother yourself with your prior overstay. By giving you a green card USA forgave you your overstay.

You can travel with GC up to a year. If you travel more than a year, you need a re-entry permit.

Traveling Outside of the United States
Permanent residence normally permits you to travel outside the
United States and to return; however, there are some limitations.
Lengthy absences, particularly if they involve work or taking up
residence abroad, can lead to abandonment and loss of permanent
residence status, or delayed eligibility for naturalization. Absence
for 1 year or more can cause serious problems. Remember that, in
order to enter another country, you must comply with that country's
requirements, which may include having your U.S. Permanent
Resident Card, obtaining a visa, or using your passport from your
    country of nationality.
You may be able to reduce the risk of abandonment by filing
for a “reentry permit,” using Form I-131, Application for Travel
Document, before you depart. Additional information on reentry
permits is available in customer guide B5, I Am a Permanent
    Resident...How Do I...Get a Reentry Permit?
Under limited circumstances, you may be able to protect your
eligibility for naturalization by filing Form N-470, Application to
Preserve Residence for Naturalization Purposes, before you depart.
Criminal convictions can trigger special grounds that make you
inadmissible, preventing you from being re-admitted to the United
    States after international travel.

  3. Went to the mail box today and found hubby's interview letter for June 22nd. Two days before our second anniversary! These people want every dime that they can get their hands on (removing conditions). They are not playing. We are excited though. Diazy... you are next! Watch out now.

    Good luck.

    Natasha.

    Thanks!!!!

2 days!!! It is not fair. You should have a 10-year green card! I hope they would close their eyes on these 2 days.

    By the way, congratulations!!!!=)

    DaveHanna, congratulations to you too=))))

  4. Another quick message to say that I got the approval email for EAD!!!!!!! I can finally get a job, after 15 months of nothing, I am gonna love working........well at least for a while anyway! Again good luck to all still awaiting, and Diazy, things are moving!:dancing:

    Congratulations!!!!!

We called 2 days ago. They said that everything looks OK and that our case is in the normal processing time.I hope we get approvals for EAD and AP soon!

  5. We filed AOS on 12-1-08, had interview on 3-12-09, IO said approved. Have not heard anything yet....No notice of approval, no "Welcome to America", no greencard. Have called 1-800 number many, many times. 2 infopass appointments and still not a bit of information. They will not tell us anything....application still processing. I am getting very frustrated!

Anyone have any advice or insight on this matter, I am trying to stay patient and optimistic but this is quite stressful.

    Thanks everyone.

    Maybe contact senator?

  7. Hello! Just wanted to let y'all know that I got my GC in the mail on Friday (05/01). I don't have access to update the spreadsheet, so if anyone wants to complete it that will be good. It's very nice to see the spreadsheet almost all green!

Does anyone know if we are required to carry the actual card with us all the time? I'm afraid I'll lose it...

    Cheers,

    Isa.

If I were you, I'd get a state ID or a DL, and, eventually, carry a copy of the GC with you. Hubby was a GC holder for 5 years, nobody asked for his GC. He presented it when hired, cause the employer wanted to see the card, but other than this, only USCIS asked for it at the naturalization interview or at POE.

I also think that you don't need to carry green card everywhere. It is the same as passport (showing you identity and legal status), but in the USA passport is not used as identification, that is why Americans use IDs.

When I get my green card, I would keep it in the safe place.

  8. Hiya All, just wanting to check if there i anyone who is in a similar position to me at the moment.

    I filed I 485, I 765 and I 131 on Dec 22,

Got NOA's for all 3 applications dated Dec 26 2008, and biometrics appointment letter for Jan 21 2009

Received an RFE dated Jan 6 2009

Attended Biometrics appointment on Jan 21 2009

    Responded Feb 6 2009,

Received notice that my response was received and processing was resumed on Feb 12 2009.

Its now been 4 months and 6 days since my original filing date, and 75 days since my case processing was resumed, and I havent heard anything from USCIS. No transfer notice, no interview notice, no EAD no AP, no other RFE and no Intent to Deny application.

My husband and I are planning to travel back to Australia on June 5th to celebrate our wedding with my family, so we have just over a month till we leave, and still no AP.......

I made service request in march, and all that i got back was my case is received and pending.........

I called USCIS today, and the guy I spoke to was an a*@hole.....I asked very politely to be transfrerred to an immigration officer, 3 times, and he refused. He was so rude in answering my questions, and didnt help me with anything.......at all.

    What do i do???

Im completely at a loss, and I know I havent been waiting as long as many others have, so I feel like im complaining, Im sorry if it sounds that way...

Really needed to vent after that USCIS guy.

Hope everyone elses cases are going a little better than mine.

Heres hoping that the good news fairy comes this week....

Hey, I'm in similar position. You can see it from my timeline below.

It's been 55 days since my case was resumed and 141 days since my filing.

I'm going crazy too. I will try to call USCIS next week. Hope I will get something.

If I were you, I would do infopass and ask for expediate AP.

  11. I have an idea to make a guide through all AOS process, for example:

    First Step
    : to get your
    NOA
. Usually it takes 1-3 weeks to get it, but if it takes longer than a month, call USCIS. There is case number on your
    NOA
. You can check them online
. Sometimes it takes 2-3 weeks to be able to check. but some couples can't check them.

    Second Step
    : to get Biometrics letter.

    ...

Discuss each step as detailed as possible.

Include timeframes, sometimes pictures of NOA, RFE, NOA2.

We can put this guida as an important topic at the beginning of AOS forum. I think it will be helpful.

If you want I can try to make it. But I'm not very good at English, so I need somebody to help me.
