    Not inline yet-Field office: Houston.

I believe you shouldn't worry. The inline updates are optional and I'm pretty sure that you're in line for scheduling without the official status. Wait for one month and call for a service request.

  2. Its been 3 months since I filed and still waiting to get inline.

Hi, Houston 1! maybe you would like to be added to the timeline table. Let me know your case details and I can add you.

It's hard to tell you anything without your dates. I think you need to wait 3 months since your biometrics and you can place a service request with USCIS.

It's been 3 months since I filed too.

My wife filed July 8, 2014 and we are still waiting for an interview date. How long does it take to get one? I see on the citizenship timeline that people that filed after us have had their interview, etc. Whats up with that?

It all depends on your local office. Some local office are busy, thus people get their interview letters later than others.
  3. Diazy, of course immigration interviews are serious, but so is caring for a newborn, especially a breastfed one! I feel like the office should be able to work with the mother. Newborns are unpredictable, but generally happy in their mother's arms. And leaving baby with a bottle of pumped milk is not always possibly if baby is not accustomed to bottles. Anyway, it's not like bringing a rampaging toddler to the office. If you slip baby into a sling or wrap and he naps through the interview they'd hardly know he was there!

It also depends on a newborn. Some can be too fussy, while others are happy most of the time if they are fed and changed.

I just remember my nephew and he was a fussy newborn. There is no way he would be comfortable in an office during an interview.

  4. deidre, An immigration interview is a serious procedure. Why would anyone want to bring a newborn? It is the same as bringing a baby to the job interview. What if a baby becomes fussy? A newborn is a huge distraction at the interview with feedings, diaper changes, and so on.

Of course, if there is nobody to leave a baby with, I would understand. But in general, a babysitter is required for these events.

  5. My concern is that after we move and I file the change of address, and I ask the post office to forward any mail from our old address to the new address that somehow an important letter from USCIS will still end up getting lost.

I'm pretty sure that USPS will not forward any USCIS mail since they have a restriction on which mail is forwarded (at least they used to). Basically they will forward any unimportant mail like catalogues or other junk. However any government mail they didn't forward for us.

I suggest to talk to your landlord regarding any leftover mail - we basically ended up going to our previous address once a month to pick up whatever stuff was not forwarded. We didn't move during any immigration process, so maybe in your case just stop by more frequently.

  6. i included:

    n400 (original) application

    2 photo

photocopy of green card front and back

my divorce paper from court (copy)

    money order for 680 $

    I sent the same documents

also i would like receive text and an email for my case what is the number for that document at uscis???? and should i put that in the package or i send that to different place??

    G-1145 e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

I just put it on top of all other docs - so that they could see this form easily.

  7. I am still waiting to get inline. it is almost 2 months I have had my bio done!

Hi Houston 1, this information might cheer you up. My friend and I applied for citizenship together: we filed the forms together, we did our bio together (even though the original dates where a day difference), we both got yellow letters (again with a day difference). However I did get an inline and my friend did not.

Now we're both waiting for the interview letter and hoping that it would be the same day (we want to save some money on gas plus it's nice to have a friend with you before the interview for the support).

  8. GreenEyez, congrats! Updating your info.

  9. I think it is just luck!

My friend and I applied for our citizenship together (sent the forms the same day/time) and we even did fingerprinting appt together (a walk-in). My friend was getting every piece of paperwork a day earlier - fingerprinting appt, yellow letter. However she didn't get the inline notice, but I got it on Monday (several days after our walk-in - see my signature).

There is only one difference in our cases: she didn't sign up for the updates, but I did. I don't think it plays a role, but it might.

  10. I just found this article CRITERIA FOR EMERGENCY AND PREGNANCY-RELATED SERVICES FOR PERSONS ENTITLED TO RESTRICTED BENEFITS ONLY, which states: "Medi-Cal coverage for pregnancy-related services is available to all aliens who meet all other Medi-Cal eligibility requirements. Routine prenatal care, labor and delivery, routine post-partum care, and family planning are classified as pregnancy-related services."

    Thus, I 'm confused:

    - all articles from USCIS, which I can find, say that the sponsor doesn't need to pay back any pregnancy-related Medicaid in SOME states. (see the link in the post above)

    - all articles from Medi-Cal, which I can find, say that any alien is eligible for Pregnancy-related Medi-Cal. (no indication of any re-payment)

However I can't find any article, which would clearly state that the sponsor will and will not need to pay back any pregnancy-related Medicaid in California.

  11. I can get money if I need it and the father of the baby is supportive. But neither I nor the father of baby have extra cash to spend especially on something which might be free to us. Thus, i would like to find either some experience in this situation or a document which stays if I'm eligible.

Yesterday I read this: "In states that choose to provide Medicaid and CHIP to children and pregnant women regardless of their date of entry, sponsors do not need to repay the cost of health services received by these groups. And, sponsors who are receiving food stamps do not need to repay the cost of food stamps received by the sponsored immigrant." Taken from http://www.nilc.org/sponsoredimms&bens-na-2009-08.html

However I'm still not sure if California is one of those states and I can't find any official information about it.

Regarding calling USCIS, I don't think that they're that helpful. All the times I called them they were just providing the information freely available on the internet.

  12. Hello,

Currently I'm in the process of acquiring my citizenship (waiting for the interview) and I have been a permanent resident for a little over 5 years.

I recently found out that I'm pregnant and income-wise I'm eligible for a Medi-Cal (Medicaid in California) for the pregnancy-related services. I keep reading the articles that say that a permanent resident can get a Pregnancy-related Medi-Cal. However none of them say if my sponsor (i.e. my ex-husband) would need to re-pay them.

On one hand, I would like to get Medi-Cal coverage as soon as possible since if I wait for 3-4 months I will need to pay at least 300 dollars for all procedures. I wish I could just save those money for my future baby.

On the other hand, I don't want my ex-husband to re-pay my bills and know about my pregnancy at all.

Does anyone know what to do in this situation? Should I wait for 3-4 months until I get my citizenship to apply for Medi-Cal? Or can I do it right now?
