    Hello,

    I just want to thank all of you for helping me pass the time during my citizenship journey.

    Today I took the oath in Concord NH- in a very emotional and suprisingly warm ceremony.

    Wow, am I glad it's over... now beginning a new chapter- and somehow I will miss my good old "oh, you Americans!" exclamations.

    Absolutely Ridiculous..happended to anybody else?

    So like 4 months ago I sent in my I-751 and had my biometrics appointment 3 months ago.

    Yesterday I got a letter from them saying that the evidence submitted with my I-751 is insufficient.

    Seriously, I dont know what else to send them. I sent them our joint leases from 2008-2010 (I dont have the lease contract from 2007 - 2008 because we moved), sent joint tax return, pictures of us, copies of plane tickets for trips we took together, joint automobile insurance. There is nothing else to send. We have seperated bank accounts, which we do on purpose so there will be no fighting over money, I still have my maiden name. I mean really?!? What else do they want!?!

    Did that happen to anybody else?!? All I read in the forum is people getting approved..

    I understand the process is stressful. Just take a deep breath :)

    other things you can send : Health insurance-life insurance-rental insurance/home

    utility bills even if both of you are not on the same account

    State drivers license showing both with same address

    affidavits from friends/relatives about your relationship

    2009 tax return

    Question about arrest record when I don't have one

    I think you will get an automatic yellow letter if you answer yes to any of the questions. I received a letter like that, and on the day of the interview I explained the issue to the officer, and she said not to worry about it. She even did not ask me for any supporting documents. Now I am waiting for my oath letter.

    To be on the safe side take proof of payment, and copy of the tickets from the court.

    After a 30 minute wait, and a 20 minute interview, I passed as well and will be waiting for the IL in the mail in the next 4 weeks. :dance:

    Congrats :)

    Just returned from the interview at USCIS office in San Francisco. I passed the test. The whole thing took about 30 minutes or so.

    The officer said I'd receive a letter with the date for the oath and ceremony. There'll be one in March and April but she wouldn't know which one I'd go to.

    Yaay... one more last step and I'm done :)

    Omitting Place of Birth on a US Passport....

    There are simple solutions to all problems, first one is too late for me, marry an immigrant orphan. Second, there is no law you have to have a US passport, just stay home, but that certainly would be unfair to my wife.

    But let me ask this question. If my wife did renounce her Colombian citizenship, would our DOS remove born in Colombia from her US passport?

    The simple answer, if things are the way there are now, a big NO. And even if your wife renounced, or tried to renounce her Colombian citizenship, there is no guaranty that she wont come across some brick head officer at the POE in Columbia. If I were her, I wont go down that road of renouncing the citizenship of Columbia, since she still has ties and family there. When dealing with bureaucracy in a third world country, it is often difficult to know the outcome.

    So are you saying Rahm Emmanuel is no longer a US citizen since he served in the Israeli Army ? An he is still an Israeli citizen ?

    I think the debate changed from adjusting the place of birth in the US passport, to a whole new area. Citizenship, allegiance, claim on former citizens are all very complicated issues that are still being debated by experts.

    In my case, once Moroccan always Moroccan, I can not renounce it. The states department says "The government of Morocco considers all persons born to Moroccan fathers or mothers to be Moroccan citizens. In addition to being subject to all American laws, U.S. citizens who also possess the nationality of Morocco may be subject to other laws that impose special obligations on citizens of Morocco. "

    My 2 cents here. As I said before, the government can put in the passport : Place of Birth-Naturalization. This way you are born again American. Trust me the government, or the US POE officers have their ways to know if you are naturalized or born here. So adjusting that line will just make life easy for a lot of people.

    On another note, the debate about who is more patriotic, and who can or can not run for a president, is more for a law class...

    My point is simple, if adjusting that line to reflect the place of birth or naturalization wont cause security concerns, then why not make life easier for a lot of people.

    Dallas Citizenship Interview today - my experience

    Guess what I used Google maps, and my GPS. The google directions sucked big time, and my GPS decided not to work today....

    I had to seek the help of a nice UPS driver. I got there 45 minutes late, since my original direction were telling me to look for Campus drive Exut on 166 south Grrrrrrr.

    I had an Asian lady as my officer, she was nice. HOwever she could not approve me, since I am 24 hours short of my anniversary !!

    How long did it take before you got your oath letter ? when did you attend the ceremony ?

    Citizenship Interview today Dallas Texas

    I was scheduled to have my citizenship interview at 8:00 AM in the new USCIS Irving location. I did not get there till 8:45 since mt GPS froze on me :(

    I had to stop a UPS truck and ask for directions, the guy was really nice and showed how to get there fast. After waiting about 20 more minutes, my interview lasted another 20 minutes. she asked me all the questions from the form, and how long I am married . She did not ask for any supporting documents , or originals....

    I was then asked these questions:

    who is the father of our nation?

    Name one war that the US fought in the 1900 ?

    What does the Judicial do ?

    How many voting members the house of representative has?

    How long does a house of Representative member serve ?

    Who is the chief justice?

    I answered all of them, she then asked me to Write: Washington is the first president, and read Washington is the father of our nation.

    By the end the officer said that I passed the test. However, the Officer could not approve me since I am short one day from the three years anniversary. I asked her if I could get the oath letter today. She went to check with a supervisor. After 5 minutes, she came back and said that unfortunaly she can not give me an oath letter since my application has to be approved first. She promised she will approve it on Monday, and that i should expect a letter in the mail within 2 weeks. She also said they have 2 oaths every week.

    Now I will have to wait for the oath letter. I
