1. I thought this may be of interest for some of you...

Summary: soon, it will be cheaper than ever to get from the airport to downtown. More stops than the Aerobus, so a shuttle may be unnecessary (depending on your hotel location).

    Take flight with the STM

On March 29, the STM will introduce a new bus service, the 747 Express.

Featuring nine stops in each direction, the 747 service will be provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year between Montréal’s central bus terminal (Berri-UQAM metro station) and Montréal-Trudeau airport.

Highly anticipated, this shuttle service should fulfill the expectations of airport employees and of the countless people travelling between downtown and Montréal-Trudeau airport. The eight new buses, specially-designed for this service, are easily identified by their airborne look: [picture]

Buses on the 747 route are equipped with three luggage racks for the convenience of travellers. The $7 fare is payable in cash aboard the bus. It also provides travellers with a transit pass valid on the STM bus and metro network for the next 24 hours.

Other public transit fares can also be used for the express service, at no additional cost, including regular and reduced fare weekly and monthly CAM cards, 1-day and 3-day passes, and monthly TRAM cards, for zones 1 to 8.

    Bonne chance :)

  3. She must HATE the look of my email right now BUT, she asked me to educate her and send her information as to what the CR1 visa was all about so... I did and also plead my case in there as well...
but showing the facts, just the facts...
:D
Next step would be to create a nice PowerPoint presentation, or why not put a video on youtube :P Be a teacher, educate her :innocent:

  4. It really depends how much time you want to spend driving. I've driven around all that area and it's pretty smooth to drive around with the 'freeway' system, and relatively fast, but it still does take time to accomplish. Regarding traffic, you should be ok as long as you avoid rush hours in cities, but that's pretty much common sense. I think I would probably go public transport unless I really, really wanted to spend more time off the beaten track. In all the cities you mention, public transport is everywhere and the city centres themselves are very pedestrian friendly. Maybe consider just hiring a car to drive around the Loire? That would be worth while, possibly essential if you have your heart set on seeing particular chateaux.

Oh, and try finding the bed and breakfasts instead of hotels, they are excellent, there are some really fab ones in the Loire.

I'm trying to remember what the French ones are called. Not the gites, those are self catering and normally weekly, but the other ones where you get to talk to local families, excellent

Chambres chez l'habitant, gîtes, chambres d'hôtes = good deal, good food, more fun :)

  5. I had no problem with EP, but, at times, it was confusing. They sent me the most random emails. I called NVC and I was told that the emails were sometimes "off". From that point, I simply followed the steps described by LingChe and ignored the "random" emails. I would do it again though.
