  1. Hi. I checked out this option of getting nanny from Philippines as I am having our baby this December, we both working and I am very hesitant to get a nanny without Filipino culture. I want to get nanny in the Philippines with background known by my family in the Philippines. But working visa is not going to work for nanny position as it is not considered special skills and also you have can't just pay minimum wage. Looking for Au Pair is a good idea but most agencies do not cater Filipinos and it's very expensive as you have to pay agency aside from paying for expenses that you're au pair incur just to get here. Getting au pair is not different from getting an American nanny.

You're best bet is to find Filipino in your area.

  2. Since, I got rfe in my ROC, I sending most documents that refer to me and my husband aside from 3 years tax return transcript. I don't have yet kid till December, so no birth cert of kid. We have two mortgage and each house name on each of our name but not sending, so no mortgage documents.

But I am sending copies: car title, our life Insurance, our car insurance, utility bills to show we both live in one address, bank account statements.

  3. Thanks for the info. Where can I find the info on restrictions for employment?

    Thanks!

She can teach in both public andbprivate school even though she is just green card holder or ead. She just need to get certified and have her undergraduate credentials get evaluation. To become full time teacher on certain level, she needs to pass some sortbzof exam. But for substitute teacher, just credentials and certification. Other state nightshade more requirement though.

  4. There's no contract for working in the Philippines beyond normal. If she is a model, domestic helper, on skill basis worker, consultant or temporary, contract can be draw but it's not one year, contract depends upon agreement of both parties.

So, I might agree to some posters here, something fishy.

  5. I have engineering degree from my home country but I am not really practicing on engineering rather in economic side, but it seems there's no impact wherever you took your degree, experience is more important for looking a job except for engineering that deals with codes, you have to take exams to get certified.

What I notice here in Missouri, they need professionals on a higher level. When we relocated here last year, it seems there's good engineering jobs here esp in manufacturing.

I suggests that you start checking job websites here in Missouri. In your resume, don't forget to use your Missouri address and phone number. When are you planning to get here? If you are not here yet, you have to let them know in your cover letter that you prefer communication on email while you are not here yet because they might not consider your application.

  6. I have to ask, in my wife's case we got married in March 2010, GC issued 10/04/10... We have our NOA1 on the ROC's... When can we start the N-400 process, 3/13 or 10/13???? She actually arrived a few months before we got married, is it POE or wedding date or GC issue date that the clock triggers off of????? Thanks for your responses!!!

I believe you can apply N-400 90 days before 10/04/13.

  7. Hi batchmate...Yes, us K-1'ers file for citizenship in the window which is three years from the date on our green card minus 90 days. You are in that window now.

I hope everything goes smoothly and quickly for both you and Chinook :)

Yeah, hopefully, I got rfe in our removing, was partly our fault since I didn't include our tax return. I was surfing around vj for the process, and it seems I can have interview before thanksgiving. I am just worried for the interview schedule since my due date is December, I want to avoid rescheduling. I am just waiting for our tax transcript and I will send the package. My husband wants me to file now. Hehehe.

    Goodluck to Chinook.

  8. Yes you can file. As you within the 3 month window before your POE date.

    Wifes POE date 08/24/09

We filed N400 5/25 "Dallas" just got notification "On July 26, 2012, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling."

So,,, we will see. However, keep in mind. You can reschedule any portion of the process, fingerprints, interview and oath ceremony. So,,, if the

pregnancy becomes an issue for any date, you have options.

Also,,, if you search VJ for "N400 May 2012" people are tracking their status by filing location. This might give you an idea as to how it might apply

    to your situation.

    Regards,

    cd

I came in K1 but had my conditional gc Oct 23, 2009, so I believe I am in 90 days window. We moved here in St. Louis, MO but it seems we have same filing location as IL.

  9. I will have my 3rd year here by Oct 23 and I believe I can file now for my citizenship based on spouse of US citizen. But my question is, if I file now, how fast is the process till interview? I'm pregnant right now and my due date would be in Dec. Do you think guys, I can get my interview before thanksgiving? I am thinking of having my oath after I give birth.

  10. Huh... this is kinda alarming for me.

We have two houses with mortgage and named after each of me and my husband. Our first house is under my husband's name as he had it before we even met and our house right now is just under my name as I am taking a relocation benefit from the company I am working. I hope this will not raise any problem when I file for my citizenship soon.

Hmmmmm... throughout all the process, we never submitted IRS transcript.

Anyway, I hope this is just small glitches for you and you'll get your approval soon.

  11. Are you serious???? Are you sure his being honest w/u? So you mean he works under minimum wage per day? Just to make only 6000 pesos? I’m probably not from the Philippines but I know how much their minimum wage per day is. Also about the internet...he doesn't have to have internet every day to pay 1000pesos/month. Better yet only go online once a week to pay 80pesos/wk. for internet.

Anyways it just shows how much you guys spoil your partners. Just saying NO OFFENSE!!!!

The OP is right. We have helper in the Philippines, and just paying a little over $60/month. Teachers in some rural areas are getting paid less than 6000 pesos a month. You need to have good degree and work in big companies in order to earn a least $500 a month.

The minimum wage in the Philippines when I left in the Philippines is less than 5000 pesos and that's not included those house helper.

But for my personal preference, I don't want to accept money or help from my partner (bf then) to make my life comfortable. I did received money from my husband, bf/fiancé then to help me pay my cellphone bills in some months (as far as I remembered, only happen four times throughout our relationship before I got here) it goes thru the roof sometimes esp. right after we had fight, and it hurts my own budget as I paid my graduate studies that time . But other than, mostly gifts during my birthday and christmas or after a huge fight.

But then again, I do agree that spoiling your partner is giving them wrong signal later on in a relationship.

  12. I have been added as an authorized user of my husband's credit card about 11 mos ago so technically I don't have my own credit card account but only a user of his.

I have a job as a nurse but I still don't see any explanation as to how my credit score could be this high. And yes, I have a higher score than my husband now also.

We got our loan from a community/local bank, although now we got wiser. We used our CD as a collateral for a car loan and got a very low rate. We still filed jointly it would help each other for our credit score in the long run anyway.

  13. come on now...how about his wife and your fiance help you guys atleast they pay for their medical and visa interview in the philippines i don't think they won't about to save for few months to help....my fiance he will help me....eventually he will pay for his medical and interview....at the beginning of fiance visa i was honest told him i need his help....even he work part time in the philippines he still manage to save money to help me.....

so give us reason why his wife and your fiance cannot help financially? i don't think she's disable? just saying!!!!!

or better yet if your friend cannot afford to bring someone here...why marry someone from there? and not here in the US?

i know it's hard to be in this situation. but crying here won't help your friend. better yet start asking the wife to start working....

First of, the OP is not asking help for his friend who is in financial difficulty but rather want to share an idea on how big responsibility esp financial wise to enter a commitment such as bringing foreign partner.

Not all fiancé capable of helping financially. Me and my husband shared expenses. I paid all my expenses in the Philippines during our process as well as my airfare. My husband was saving for our small church wedding and my aos back then here in US, as he didn't want any delay when comes to my legal status here. Even so, some of small stuff for our wedding, I helped paid for it.

For me, it's the matter of understanding and being truthful all throughout the relationship. I know that my husband living paycheck to paycheck before I got here. It took him extremely savings and gave up things, just to visit me. And I'm always thankful for that. Relationship is not all about love but life that involves financial aspect. Each one should be involve and have better understanding of what's going on, to be able to help one another.

  14. So, me and my husband recently applied for a car loan to replace my old Jeep.

This loan is primarily for a purpose of me building my credit score.. so when CHASE bank sent us a denial letter of our loan from the grounds of my husband's 1. Student loan, 2. A very horrible mistake of a doctor's office for not filing the right insurance card which ultimately came down to a collection services which by the way we paid full after they couldn't fix the mistake.

Now, together with the denial letter, they showed us our credit score. My big question was..

How did I have a credit score of higher mid 700s if I don't have any existing loans, or whatsoever that I could think of to have this high of a score?

    Feed back is greatly appreciated.

First of, banks make mistakes for acquiring credit score, happened to my husband. If you have 700+ credit score and job, you should apply alone in your car loan. That's what I did when I applied for car loan, my husband have lower credit score that I am because he wasn't working that time and have student loan too. I got approved with better rate.

Anyway, if you have good standing credit card, checking account and job, it might boost your credit score.

  15. I find OP's post lack of essential details to come up with most likely better opinion.

Kids are precious, giving up them isn't right. But my question is, did the kids accepted her as their step mom? Did she said of getting rid of them because she's tired of trying to be a good step mom to them? Let's be real, some kids are mean. Did you make balance the relationship between your wife and your kids? Did you ask your wife how her life affected by your kids? Maybe the OP needs to examine the whole relationship if he is being fair to his wife and how could he reconciles his wife and the kids to be able to live peacefully amd happily in one roof.
