Page 3 guys!! Too much smooching, not enough VJing.
Quick update before I crash for the night.
Still job hunting, and heard nothing so far. 15 apps, 1 cold email, and 1 staffing firm app later. More cold emails and apps to come. Looking and writing cover letters, etc is time consuming, and it's slim-pickings out there. A mere sampling of crazy places I've applied to: Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, Iola Wisconsin, Framingham Massachusetts, and New York. I must be out of my mind on the last one. I haven't been insane enough yet to apply for anything in the vicinity of Texas and my mother yet, though.
Andy's going to finish out the month at his job and is going to figure out when his last day will be. It depends on when his folks can pick him up with his stuff, because it's too much to carry back on the train. We'll figure that out this weekend or Monday, depending on what they say, and then sometime next week book a ticket. Looks like a mid-July flight; a bit later than we hoped. I guess we'll get married at the end of July or beginning of August. Continuing to wait makes me feel like I'm losing my mind a little. I guess that explains New York.
Keep going Aubrey, you sound as though you are trying really hard to sort this, I am sure you will get some reponses soon (you have covered a large area, so bound to). Once you and Andy make dates for moving you will have something concrete to work towards and I think this will make things more easier than having a 'rough idea'. Looking at your signature a mid-July flight isnt far from your original plan, so you are both doing well in some very difficult circumstances.
We look forward to the countdown appearing on your signature to when he flies out to you after the weekend!

Good luck, HW.
I have FINISHED UNIVERSITY!
And I've recieved an amazing offer, someone I know has a sister working for the hospital in Harvard as a psychologist, and says she might be able to get me an internship. That would be amazing! I have to ask whether I'm allowed to do this with a EAD or if I have to have a greencard, etc.. but awesome.
She's also from my town in England.
Creepy!
Thats fantastic news!!! CONGRATULATIONS firstly on finishing Uni, and secondly on already getting an offer for a job!!! Well Done Gemmie!!!

I do have one question about AP. When you apply for AP is it good for only one exit/entry? do you have to specify a trip? does it make the EAD/AOS process slower? I thought that you could get a "standing AP" - good for use at any time. And I didn't think that it had any bearing on the AOS process but Jeremy thinks differently. Can you guys shed some light??
You can request a multi entry on the AP, and no you do not have to give dates/trips. When you send it in you will also need a covering letter stating the reason why you would like to have AP and that you have no specific travel plans at this time. I have a copy of the letter i sent if it would help?
AP is dealt with by a different office as is EAD to AOS so it has no bearing on any of them, it definately doesn't slow it down.
Dawn, that'd be great. Will you please send me the cover letter? I'll pm you my email address. Danke!
What a beautiful Wedding picture.......Congratulations!

Yep 1 day already i'm going to take shower now and i'm leaving tomorrow at 5 am to take the plane
Take care Dani, so excited for you!

i went for my biometrics today....in philadelphia.....usually they dont bother if u go early than ur appointment date in philly.....
everything went smoothly though...went in, checked in, waited, gave finger prints, got out.....took me about 1 hour in total.....
Excellent! Nice to hear, I shall be going there too soon, although I wish that I had just gone to the interview earlier now rather than applying for another appointment
Nevermind, rather this way than risk being turned away after a 2hour journey.
Thanks for letting us know and good luck to all those who have their bio appointment soon!

His EAD was approved last week but he's having a really hard time finding a job. But we're toughing it out!
Hope everything is well with you all!
Congrats on getting your EAD!!!!!
Koakland: Happy Wedding Day!!!! Hope you both have a wonderful life together as Mr and Mrs.

I'm back in the office today after all that big adventure!
It was a long flight!
The wifey and I got sick in Taiwan with migranes, the kiddos took care of us, bless their little hearts!
POE took a little while to get through, tons of people but it was smooth. Immigration and Customs loved the kids and were joking around the whole time so the kids loved it.
They are cold, hehehehe! a little adjustment.
Freddy so glad you are all together again and home. Your kids sound great bless them!!!...wifey? did you get hitched already? or is it unofficial wifey? Would hate to think that I had missing you well on your wedding day

@ErinMeetsJohny: The average times were going down last I looked, but still 2 1/2 months. This is why in my case Andy is still in Germany working. I can't imagine having to move in with my parents again. I hope yours are supportive. I'm sure the lack of privacy for two newlyweds is not much fun.
@Koakland: Yeah, we're still figuring on a move date at the beginning of July. No changes so far. Another month on the job for him, then moving back to his parents place for a few days to make final arrangements, get rid of stuff, etc. Can't book a ticket with uncertainty on my end concerning jobs, so it will be a last minute thing.
@Cham: I'm hanging in there. I spent the last two days glued to the computer re-working my website, as some of the job boards have gotten me a few more hits than usual. There aren't many jobs to apply for right now, as everyone wants 2-3 years+ experience. You know, same story you always hear. Next week I'll start sending out stuff cold on days I can't find listings. Wish me luck. Things will get ugly in a few months if I'm not hired.
You have worked so hard, I hope that you get something soon

Mine hadnt changed either so I just got my NOAs and added each receipt number to my case file. Strangely when I did this it put the date in as the date that they would have been mailed rather than the date I entered them. Hopefully now I will be able to watch each of them progress or even if its just to see that someone has looked at them will be great
When i tried to add the receipt numbers to my portfolio(case file) it comes up with something like: case numbers do not exist. So i can't add even add them to my online case file.
I got back from my biometrics appointment about 45 minutes ago. It was crowded in there. There was a sign up on the wall that said that you could only be seen if you had an appointment letter, BUT others here on vj have gone earlier than the specified date and were ok and they were allowed to do it, so it probably depends on which office you go to and their policies for that particular office.
GhanaMade88: Congrats on receiving your NOA for I-131
Well thats a mystery. Why can one person add them and not another?.......strange.
I had to reschedule my biometrics appointment as my son graduates 5th Grade on the day we had been given and I dont want him to miss that. We did toy with the idea of just going the day before but as the office is about 2 hours away, we didnt want to risk being turned away and having to go through all of that again the following day. We called USCIS to see if we could just 'drop in' and they said that they dont allow 'drop-ins' anymore. When she said this I knew she was wrong because as you said, others here have gone earlier. Oh well, we will just wait for another appointment.
-
Well I officially hate USCIS with a passion.
They still don't know anything, we have no NOA1 or anything, Im over being Positive, this is just a failing situation that apparently has no end.
I cant believe this is still happening to you both!!!! I felt certain that having that contact things would have moved along quickly now. Is he still avoiding contact with you both? This is totally wrong!!!!
-
kiwiana, it's very strange why ur (or many others like u) cannot see their status online....i checked my status as soon as i received the NOA in mail and it was there....
is this the link u r looking at? coz may be u got redirected somewhere else....and ofcourse, use no dashes in the receipt number
Thanks!
yes that is the link i have been using to no success
There doesn't seem to be no rhyme or reason why some can view it straight away and some like myself can't.
I have my biometrics appointment tomorrow and i have read that some folks on vj have been able to access their case online once this was done. so am crossing my fingers that i may be able to view it after tomorrows biometrics. I realise this process is all about being patient and all, but it would be ever so good if i could just see any progress that may have been made on my case online....

Enjoy your time with your fiancé Corinthians
This morning I passed my driving test YAY ! I looked on the permit and the date of expiration is august 16th like my I-94. So I asked what I will have to do after this date and they told me to comeback with my california driving license, and a proof of status (EAD or GC) and the will re-send me a new one, I will maybe just have to have a new picture done, that is it. So no need to retake the test !
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There have been a LOT of AOS cases lately that were finished in about 2 and 1/2 months, but yeah, I'm not complaining, there is never any gaurentee of anything happening fast, or even at all in this process. Most of the K-1 cases seem to get transfered to CSC which means no local interview, supposedly this only happens if it'd be faster to transfer to CSC than the local office, and presumably they pre-screen them somehow so that they don't send people to CSC who will require an interview (for some kind of red flag or something). The VJ site doesn't seem to have a very good guestimate tool for AOS processing since there is a lot of room for wild variables, people handled at local offices will have a big difference from people handled by CSC etc... I think people who file after the I-94 expires (after 90 days) are much more likely to have a slow AOS too.
Anyway, for those who get their AOS filed right away and don't have any mistakes or some kind of serious red flag, I think most will get the GC in about 3 months. It does all depend potentially on each person's situation and some luck of the draw probably.
CONGRATULATIONS MR & MRS Maliciant!!!!

So May is here!
How many of us have/or will file for AOS this month?
Come in and share your experiences with each other!
Good luck to everyone!
My package has been sent off already so now for the waiting game!
Hope it is ok I started this.
Hey All
My wife and I are about to send our package of i-130, i-864, i-485, i-765, i-693, & G-325A tomorrow (hopefully)
Anyhow we got some quick questions that we posted. Just wondering from this group, your answers.
1) Do we include the $70 for i-864? We are, did you?
2)
The mailing address that we are sending to is:
USCIS
PO Box 804625
Chicago, IL 60680-1029
3) Is Next Day shipping the best option in mailing? Please advise.
Thanks and best wishes to all.
OK
When I sent my forms in I sent them to the Chicago lockbox through the Post Office with a tracker number on so I had proof that they had received it. I sent a check for $1010 in total as I was applying having had a K1 visa which allowed me to file all of the forms for a lump sum. Your signature doesnt say which 'route' you took to arrive at AOS.
Naksah: Welcome to the waiting room

Bad news guys.
"your visa has been denied under section 212(a)(2)(a)(1) of the immigration act A waiver of the applicable is available."
I dont know what this means, he has old convictions, which we were worried about, but i think 212 is lack of proof of relationship? my fiance told me: "I dont qualify for automatic approval its up to homeland security to approve me a waiver, only this time we both have to write letters explaining why a denial would cause extreme hardship, more forms to fill, $538 to pay, at least 15 weeks more to wait, "
We are eligible for a waiver but have to prove extreme hardship.
I am utterly heartbroken and crushed. He cannot even visit me til we get approved or denied. I am gutted! I dont know what to do! I cant be with the man i love! I have to go cry now!
thank u all for your well wishes!
Jenny
Jenny so very sorry to hear that. I hope that once you have had time to recover from this blow you both come back out fighting. Our thoughts are with you

CandylovesAhmed: I dont know what to say to comfort you. You have worked so hard to be together, maybe the administrative stuff will work out, especially if you keep calling them and pushing your case. Why cant you move to Kuwait to be together though? Do they have even more red tape you have to go through. I hope something develops for you soon! Our thoughts are with you. DON'T GIVE UP.
