  1. We've really only got that and the new lease that has joint names on it. Shan doesnt have health benefits yet so I'm not named on that sorta thing.....

We have the lease and the electric bill; that's basically it. Cable, cell and bank seem to want SSN. We have health insurance but for some reason my job doesn't put the spouses name on the card, so she just uses one for medical or dental with only my name. She does have a card for the health savings account. If we get an interview, it will be interesting to see what they expect us to have.

In addition to joint bank account, I had a cell phone bill which my husband had me put onto his plan, although my name isnt on the bill, the cell phone number is so we used that. He also gave me a second credit card from his credit card company on the same account, and although again, my name isnt on the account, I took a copy of the most recent bill and made a copy with my credit card on it so they can see my name on the card, and the same card number as his.

My health insurance is different to my husbands too but I used that as it has our address on it as well.

Hope these may give you some ideas. Good luck for your interview.

  2. Hey Guys!

So happy to tell you that we had our interview today and that we got approved!!!

We had to wait for close to 2 hours, then we got called at 1:50 and were out at 2:00! 10 minutes!

Our interview was quick and easy.

IO asked Brandon when and how we met, where we are living right now, asked me if we had any pictures, he looked at the picture album I had prepared but didn't keep any pictures for his record, asked me how I wanted my name to appear on the Green Card and that was it. He didn't ask for any papers... He didn't ask for any proof, didn't take my EAD or AP. IO said he was going to approve our case, printed the paper that explains how to remove conditions in 2 years and asked us to sign it. We shook hands and were out of there!

I wanted to thank you VisaJourney friends for your help and great support, I wish you guys the best!!! Good luck to the ones that are still waiting!!!

    Take care,

    Alice

Congratulations to both you and Akikoa on your approvals!!!!! So very pleased for both of you!!

  3. hi everyone...CONGRATULATIONS to those who received their green cards and good luck to those who haven't and have interviews.....

    i had my interview today.....

interview was at 11:00am in philadelphia.....i arrived at 10:00am....went in....handed my interview letter at the reception desk......and waited to be called.....

around 10:45am, the immigration officer called us in......he took us to his office and pulled up our file.....asked our names and birth dates....then he took about 3-4 minutes to fill out 2 sheets of forms........then he started looking at our file.....and asked for originals as he did so...passports....driver licenses...birth certificates...marriage certificates....my wife's naturalization certificate.....he then went out to take copies of our passports, driver's licenses and birth certificates....

he told me that my interview was rescheduled and that they sent me a letter in mail that my interview was rescheduled on sept. 30.....but since i did not receive that letter and i was already there.....he asked me to disregard and ignore that letter.....

then he started asking questions....which school i went to in US...when did I graduate.....where did I stay during school...where do I live now.....where do I work right now......what position do I hold there....when we met for the first time....how often did we meet after that.....we did we decide we want to get married....did our parents meet each other before we got married......have I been married before....has she been married before...if we have children together.....if I have children anywhere else in the world!!!.......he asked my wife how she received her green card and citizenship......which school she went to....when did she move in with me....was she able to find a place to work after she moved in with me to a different state.....did we ever leave US in 2009.....

then he asked for out joint tax return's "tax transcript".....and other proofs...so I gave him tax transcript for last year....joint bank accounts.....joint car insurance.....then he told me that's enough because i was about to give him joint credit card accounts, joint phone account, etc......

that was it...and lastly he asked me if I had any questions.....and i asked him, "am i approved?" and he said "most likely yes".....he said that he will put in the information in his computer...and as of today, i am a permanent resident....i should get my green card in mail within 2 weeks.....and that i shouldn't panic if i haven't received anything in 2 weeks...he asked me to wait at least 3 to 4 weeks before inquiring.....

i also asked him about removing the condition on my green card ...and he said that i will have to do that after 2 years......and then 1 year from then (total 3 years from now) i can apply for my citizenship.....

than we thanked each other and left the place!!!

hopefully i will get my green card by next week....

    Congratulations on passing your interview!

  4. We are now married!!

Everything went well.. it was a nightmare at first trying to find somewhere to do the ceremony as all parks were fully booked for labour day weekend and my visa expires next week. So we had one day, picked up lots of decorations, flowers, etc and made the deck in the back yard look really pretty. The ceremony itself lasted all of 3 minutes and I was a nervous wreck! My dad and best friend were listening on speaker-phone which was nice (my dad cried and my best friend was so excited). Then we went to a nice italian place to eat... and then went off on our mini-honeymoon. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous.. they upgraded us to an executive suite just because we got married! We had a jacuzzi in our room, along with 2 huge TVs, a king-size bed, a living room, etc.. we didn't want to come home.

    Pics to come tomorrow.

We're finalising the AOS documents and sending them within the next 2 days.

CONGRATULATIONS GEMMIE!!Have a wonderful life together

  5. Quick qestion,

do I have to bring all copy of files(submitted 485,325a,130... Ect...)

    to the interview??

I took everything they asked for in the interview letter. If you feel that taking a copy of the form you submitted will help you feel prepared for any eventuallity, take it, but they should have that on their file. Make sure that you take everything they list on the interview letter in case they ask to see anything and I also took a photocopy of everything (even got some photos duplicated to leave with them) so if they need them you have one to hand.

Heather TR: They need a Certified copy of your marriage certificate. I am not sure how it works in your State, but here in PA, we had to take our wedding certificate that the we were given when we married back to the courthouse where we got the marriage licence and paid to get a 'certified copy', which was printed while we waited. This has the Courthouse seal and is a verified copy that you did actually get married. I can't remember the cost accurately, but I think it was about $20, not too much.

  6. Howdy all...quick note before we head off on Monday.

We're going to go to Bodega Bay in CA (home of the The Birds) and stay in a beach house for the week and get married there on that beach. Dad is on his way from Branson and the rest of the group will be the there soon. Just our grown kids, parents, siblings and my two best friends. His family isn't able to afford the trip right now so that's a bummer. Will be making DVD's for them for sure.

Will post piks when we get back.

    G

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Sounds as though it will be magical !!!!!

Fred 'n Emilia You may not get SSN's for the children. When I applied for my SSN my son was denied as he is not of work age so doesnt qualify for one. However, when it comes to filing taxes I will need to get a tax number for him so we can claim for him. Things may be different in your State, but if they arent, thats whats required.

    Good luck

  7. Thanks Mara, we're still waiting to hear good news on your end. You more than anyone.. .. I really thought they would have no choice but to come up with a NOA2 in the days given... do you know if this means they're liable for anything now? What is the consequence for them?

I agree Gemmie. They should be held accountable for not complying with the court I would have thought too!!!

Hope you have a fantastic day Saturday. It will be special no matter what as it will mark your new life together. Its great to hear that you will be taking time to enjoy your new beginning together after the wedding, you faced so much and still managed to get to where you wanted to go. Congratulations to you both

  8. Had my interview today and I guess I am going back to AUSTRALIA!!!

Just to visit of course lol I was approved the interview was very easy. I have written out my experience in another section of the forums where I felt it might help other people who were in my situation.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=216170

Congrats to everyone who has been approved, Goodluck to everyone who is still waiting for their interview (It's soooooo much easier than you think) and THANKYOU to everyone for your Encouragement, Support, for sharing your experiences and being someone who understands and doesn't mind listening to all the whining that comes along with this process lol

It seems kind of strange but I think I will miss not having to be collecting evidence and worrying about what will happen! Only because I have been so consumed by it for so long that now IDK what I am going to do! lol

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  9. Hi everybody!.

I was wondering........I do not intend to change my name, I love my name and is what my father gave me, in my country people don't change the names period. I do not understand why, how things are right now women these days change their last name, why does it has to be like that?, when a kid is born its okay but why does the wife changes the last name here? this situation really irritates me!! :ranting: .

Bottom line is I refuse to change my last name and won't do it hopefully it won't bring any problems for my hubby's removal of conditions what do you think???, I am just venting and I know you are good listeners I Love you people!.

    Peace (F) .

I dont blame you if you want to keep your name so strongly, keep it. I would think that as long as you have all of the evidence that you are living together still and have things in joint name that shouldn't be a problem, he got his GC ok with you keeping your name. That's my opinion anyway.

  10. How did Jeremy's AOS interview go, btw?

    It's this Tuesday :)

    Good luck to you both!

Cham, I am so sorry that things are so difficult. Do you own property that you could use to back up your affidavit for support? That may help with a shortfall. I really hope that you find a way around this. Dont give up, you still have time. Pull off of each others strength, this time you are together as opposed to filing for K1. I sincerely hope that you manage to find a way through this.

  11. i think im going to get married on my birthday (november 28th) i dont really have any family or anything so we might goto a chapel or somthing in tenneesee ( cant decide )

gratz,,, so did you get married at a chapel church or where?

DETAILS... Come on dont leave us hanging:)

    Back from page FOUR.

So, Minibadger and I got married yesterday evening. :)

    August 28th, that is.

I can't imagine how unreal it must feel finally planning your wedding and looking at your new life together after all of the trouble you have had. I think no matter what you decide on, it will be fantastic!!

I totally agree with you re: Badgerella's wedding....we need details please.....when the honeymoon is over obviously..........got to get priorities right ;)

  12. Is everyone hanging in there? Nick/Shannon have you received anything on your package yet? Alexandra received her GC today...I must say even including our RFE bump in the road, it was much quicker than the K1 part. To not worry with USCIS for awhile will be nice but I am sure the 21 months before removing conditions will fly by.

Congratulations!!!! I agree, before a blink of an eye we will be gathering evidence again lol. I have already been looking at the lifting conditions thread to see what kind of proof will be required so as time passes I will know what kind of things to have in place and which things to keep! I think it will seem really strange not to have to be preparing for USCIS or checking the status for a few months.

Good luck to everyone who is still proceeding through this last part of the process and to those whose interview is fast approaching.
