  1. hi kapatid. ang ginawa ko isang NBI clearance lang at isang Police Clearance (from where ka ngayon nakatira). yun lang :) wala naman naging problema :) unless tumira ka sa ibang bansa for more than 6 months after ka naging 16 years old, yun kelangan ng police clearance from that country.

  2. when my GC arrived it followed the US naming system. i have 2 first names so my card says (first name, 2nd name initial, hubby's last name) but on the bottom part with all the codes for the machine, it says it right (first name, 2nd name, dad's last name, hubby's last name) ... ???:huh::blink:

i didn't have a prob with my SSN card tho. it was the same with all of my applications (first name, 2nd name, dad's last name, hubby's last name)

  3. hm.. i have two first names too. and i have written down my name in all applications the filipino way (first name, 2nd name, dad's last name, hubby's last name) but when my GC arrived it had my 2nd name as my middle name (first name, 2nd name initial, hubby's last name). but the codes at the bottom of the card says (first name, 2nd name, dad's last name, hubby's last name) so i am a little bit confused. my SSN card though has my name right (the filipino way, the way i wanted it)

  4. hm... interesting. my mom's friend's sister is a judge in QC. when i went and asked her these things before i got married. she told me the marriage license fees vary AND you don't have to pay the judge...??

thinking about it now, it could be she meant she was waiving her fee for me? but then again, i doubt that because i told her about this other judge from another place asking a fee of 10k to do the wedding. her eyes grew and she firmly said NO YOU DON'T PAY THE JUDGE ANYTHING! :star:

  5. This isn't the first time I've heard of the "pay your debt or I'll contact the US Embassy and interfere with your immigration" in the Philippines.

In fact while we were on our honeymoon my wife's one and only creditor called her, after someone at her Mom's told them she was now married to am American and gave her cell number, and threatened to block any Visa application until she paid the debt in full.

She had already told me about the debt and how it got racked-up so we were already planning to pay it (well not the full amount as there were some ridiculous things done to the balance) so I told her to give me the phone the next time they called.

A couple of hours later I was on the phone with them and they repeated the same threats. I was very blunt and told them to SHUT-UP and Listen to me. Then I explained how I'm not some stupid rube they can bully and they will deal with me if they want to get a single centavo from us. I told him rule number 1 is the very next lie will end my willingness to pay anything & I know that USCIS doesn't care about Credit Card debt in the Philippines. Rule number 2 is that I don't pay a centavo until I have a written agreement in my hands with the terms I agree to. Rule number 3 is any calls before I receive the written agreement will void my desire to pay them. They were demanding 40,000Php on a debt that my wife said should only be 20,000Php as she had been making payments per an agreement but they didn't suspend interest as they promised and were still charging her a monthly late fee. I told the guy this is a one time offer and it expires when I hang up the phone, send me a letter agreeing to accept 20,000Php as payment in full for the debt. The letter must be received at my mother-in-law's house before we return from our honeymoon. Upon returning from our honeymoon the letter was there, we paid the next day and never heard from them again!

Bottom line for your friend is that USCIS doesn't care about debts in the Philippines

    NICE! Go BOB!

these people can be so mean and rude and will lie to get you to pay more than you should. i am sure the excess amount will be THEIR money and the 20k will go to their client (like the credit card company) most of my former officemates got the same bullying. i remember one outrageous lie. the caller said he was from Western Union and that my co-worker Willy's mom sent him money. and that he has to get the money at their WU branch ONLY. now we don't know how they knew Willy's mom's name. but i told him that that is not how WU works since he has never used these money transfer things before. that guy probably thought Willy is an idiot and won't ask around

  6. just an update:

metro420 and i went to our respective SSA offices and filed an application and they said we will get our SSN cards in two weeks.

about the green card: metro420 finally got hers and i still don't have mine. i called USCIS a few times:

    my calls to USCIS:

mid-March- to change my MAILING address to PO Box. the guy gave me a referral number AND he read to me my PO box address (to be sure it's right)

April 6- they told me that my GC was issued March 22nd and it was mailed out to the PHYSICAL address *sigh* and to call again in a week or so when the card will be mailed back to USCIS as undeliverable.

    April 12 (today)

call #1- i called and asked for my GC and welcome notice. the guy said the letter and card were returned to them because they were undeliverable. i asked if they could just mail it to my PO box (thinking they already have it in their system). i was told to file for an AR-11 (change of address). i told them i already called USCIS for the change of address LAST MONTH! (BEFORE the card was issued). he told me i ALSO need to file the AR-11. ok fine.

call #2- to double check i called again and was told the same thing by the 2nd agent on the phone. so i filed the AR-11 electronically via their website.

    after 4 hours.....

call #3- (i chose the change of address menu this time, i think it's 1-3-1) now to verify if they got my AR-11, the agent told me she DOESN'T HAVE access to my information and that to call again with the petitioner present!!! #######?????

geez! so obviously that mid-March call was useless.

what is annoying the heck out of me is why the guy i talked to (that mid-March) didn't tell me about filing the AR-11! AND also knowing the fact that metro420 didn't have to do the AR-11 and they re-mailed her GC to her PO box anyway! she and i have the same physical and mailing addresses issue.

this is becoming a green card nightmare :(

  7. I-10 West,

we didnt have issues with the address during the petition process. they all sent the documents to the PO box after the first NOA was returned to them. we clarified and made sure they understood to send to the PO box. no problems after that. but now i guess its happening again *sigh*

we have no mailbox here thats why we cant receive mails.

  8. Hi Abbie! I'm surprised that you still don't have yours. These items are usually sent to immigrants 2 weeks after arrival. I got into SFO on March 2 and I received by SSN and GC on March 17. Furthermore, FYI, I'm aka Señora Bonita!

hi ate :) how are you?

really? ugh! now i think i know why i still dont have mine. they probably sent those to our physical/home address instead of the PO Box. we cannot receive mail here (no mailbox) and i am guessing they were sent back. ugh! this happened to metro420 already. she called USCIS yesterday and thats what they told her. we have the same issue with the physical address and PO Box. although a week after i got here i called USCIS and verified my mailing address already. the guy i talked to said its the PO Box. (we debated for about 25 minutes before he finally understood what i wanted to know) i called them yesterday too but the lady told me to wait until i have been in the US soil for 30 days before calling them again about the GC. ugh! great!!!

  9. I-10 west,

i dont have my SSN & GC either. i called USCIS yesterday and Jackie, the operator i talked to, told me to call them back after i have been in the US for 30 days! *sigh* i got here March 6th.

the operators dont really know most of the answers. here's a story:

a week after i got here i called USCIS and wanted to verify my mailing address since they always mess that up. they would mail stuff to the physical address instead of PO Box even though my hubby called them and informed them like 100x to send to the PO Box because we cannot receive mail in the physical address. anyway, all i wanted to do was verify the mailing address and the guy i talked to just CANNOT comprehend. we went as far back as our NOA1 receipt number for the I-130 petition back in september 2009! good thing i am a little bit patient because my hubby was already getting annoyed and wanted me to hang up. i stayed there on the phone with him till he finally understood what i wanted to know and checked the mailing address. the phone call lasted about 25 minutes  that long just to verify the mailing address.

metro and i have the same issue with physical address and PO box. they get their mails from the PO box too. and guess what, USCIS sent her GC to the physical address. and since like me, she cannot receive mail there, the card was sent back to USCIS. now she needs to wait ANOTHER 30 days so they can send the GC out to her PO box. that is my fear too :( *sigh*

  10. ay meron ako kilala. nakatuntong lang ng US of A pagbalik ng pinas eh di na marunong magtagalog! samantalang 3 years lang (yata) sya dito. at ito pa: ayaw na nya sumakay ng jeep or mag bus or mag van. taxi lang sya no! and lastly, hanggang ngayon eh panay pa din ang post nya ng mga OLD pictures nila (taken while they were in SFO years ago when they lived there) ng asawa nya sa facebook account nya. yung asawa nya pinoy din pero lahing east indian. mabait naman yun. yung girl lang ang sarap sabunutan! hehehe

  11. hello guys! been waiting for the moment that i'm gonna post something like this..

i just got approved at my interview today at USEM Manila!.. woohoo!!

my interview was set at 8:30am.. got there at 6:15am.. proceeded at gate 2, followed the blue arrows and on to the visa immigrants unit.. fell in line at the ticket booth.. the lady here was nice.. she ask me about my passport, told her St. Luke's have it.. then gave me my number (6058).. then after about 10mins, my name was called for finger scanning (the lady here asked my name and my birthday).. then i went back to my seat and waited for my number to be flashed to have the pre screening interview.. you have to pay attention to the numbers at the board so you won't miss your turn.. i was observing the pre screeners and i don't really know why but i was really anticipating to be called by the guy pre screener at window 19.. while the guy was flipping through some documents, i noticed that the paper he was holding was the photocopy of my passport biographic data page, and then i saw the file of pics my husband sent to the USCIS.. i knew at that moment that my number will be flashed at his window.. and it did (that was around 7:45am).. i proceeded to the window and i must say he was very nice and accomodating.. he had me signed the part II of the DS230 we sent to the NVC.. then i was asked these random questions:

    1. what's my name?

    2. date of birth?

    3. who is my petitioner?

    4. when did we get married?

    5. is this your first marriage? (i said yes)

    6. when did we meet?

    7. how did we meet? (told him we were classmates in highschool then he said we're the same, because his wife is also his classmate in highschool )

    8. how and when did my husband get to the US?

    9. when was he naturalized? (when i answered this, he said "swak na swak ang sagot a":D funny)

    10. when was the last time we saw each other?

    11. will this be your first travel outside PI?

he ask for my cemar, cards, emails, remittances and pictures.. then he said there is no problem with my AOS.. while flipping through my file, he said 'your file is thick, looks like your hubby put all that is needed in here' :D .. then he told me to just present the other docs i have at the final interview just in case the consul asks for it.. and then i thanked him..

i sat down again and waited for the final interview.. by 8am consuls were already in their respective rooms.. and numbers begin flashing one by one at the board.. my number flashed at around 9:15am at room 31.. the consul here was a bald, somewhat chubby american guy.. he was softspoken.. he had me raised my right hand to swear.. then he ask me just a few questions:

    1. my name

    2. date of birth

    3. who was my petitioner?

    4. when did we get married?

    5. have i been married before?

    6. have i traveled outside the Philippines?

he flip through my cards, emails, remittances and pictures.. then told me "i see no problem about your papers, you are approved.. congratulations!".. i said thank you and then he told me to wait again outside for the releasing..

(actually while the consul was looking at my docs and evidences, i noticed that there was already a stamped "approved" on top of my documents from the NVC.. :D )

my name was called at window 37, and here, the girl handed me the very famous pink slip ( visa delivery fee payment slip).. then the girl instructed me to fill out the form for air 21 and pay for the delivery fee.. i paid P 247.00 (since i am from angeles city, pampanga)..

i was out of USEM by 10am.. what a day!

now just waiting for my visa to arrived!!! thank God!!!

    ~osen~

    congratulations osen! :)
