Marina-Del got a reaction from VanD in Letters from Family in support of Relationship
This is solely, solely my opinion so please take it as that! And perhaps others will totally disagree with my opinion but here is my two sense!
Letters from your family are not required of course, but it is not a bad idea to include them anyway. However, you say that you want your immediate family members to write one -how many family members is that? I wouldn't submit more than 5 letters (and even that may be too many)??
I would also suggest that each family member does not sign the same thing. I think that your idea of short and to the point is right, but if everyone is signing the same thing I do not think it will have as big of an impact as if there were different letters from each person. Because if you think about it from the interviewers point of view, these are your family members and they would probably sign whatever you wanted them too! My point in saying that is that perhaps if it is a more personal, individual letter, it will look more like they meant what they are saying?? Maybe???
It is good for the letter to mention their relationship to you but maybe to include 1-2 sentences about how you and your SO seemed really happy together when they saw you or something? Or, your parents might include something about how they have never seen you so happy or some random thing like that. I mean I agree with you in that you probably shouldn't make it too lovey-dovey and soppy, but just a little something to make it more personal.
I applied for a K-1 visa 2 years ago and my SO and I at the time decided to cancel the visa literally days after his visa was approved (crazy situation...). But point is, I did not include any letters from my family and we were approved. I don't think letters from them is a bad idea, but it is definitely not needed.
    Again, just my opinion!
    Good luck!

Yeah, I agree Kathryn....about his residency. Technically he is a resident as soon as we step off the plan since he has his CR1 visa and I've his wife (according to the DMV he only needs my GA license to prove he's a resident)...but at the same time he CAN'T get a license until his SSN is ready and that might take weeks...so it's really confusing what is exactly the correct course of action!
    Here's our plan:
Get his license translated by one of the translators approved on the DMV website ($30)
Have him drive on that until SSN is ready (this will take less than the 1 year of course).
Then once SSN comes get him his GA license.
I'll let you know if they confiscate his Brazilian license or not!
    Thanks guys!

I'm not sure if this was just a mis-type on your part, but I wouldn't use the word "unfortunately" here. Unfortunately indicates that you don't think it should be classified as rape. Maybe you really do feel that way, maybe not. But I definitely do not. Rape is rape, if you say no, you say no. It doesn't matter if that person is your husband/boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/whatever.
Sounds like the OP has some good advice here though. Good luck to all of those involved.

I'm sorry this is happening to you.
    A couple questions:
    1. Do you want to try to fix the marriage even if her drinking does not stop? Others have suggested that you go to AA because they can help you deal with living with an alcoholic. It's really really unbelievably hard to live with an alcoholic. I understand. But some people will not stop drinking for anything, so you need to decide if you could continue the relationship the way it is.
    2. If the answer to question 1 is no. Then what do you want to do? Do you want to stay in the US or go back home? Once we know the answer to this question we can help you with the next step.

I got my DL in Texas for 6 years but when I looked at this website
    http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/DriverLicense/documents/ImmigrationStatusChart.pdf
I found out that my DL should expire on the same date than my GC...
So I guess we need to be very careful with this matter!
    Thanks again

When I click your timeline it just tells me when you FILED for I-751. It doesn't give me the dates for NOA1 or biometrics. Can you add that?

You should put the country that you will be filing in. If she is living and working in Singapore than I assume that is the consulate that you would want her to go to for an interview? Or the consulate that you already marked down that she would go to for an interview? Even though she is Burmese for this purpose she will be marked down as Singapore since she is going through that consulate.
My K-1 petition was filed for an Australian man but we were living in London at the time. He went to London for his interview and London was marked in my timeline. Australia had NOTHING to do with our petition -minus the fact that his police certificate and birth certificate came from there!
    Good luck, hope this helps!

Hello!! Could you guys take a look at my cover letter for the evidence to prove that I have reestablished Domicile in the US and let me know what you think?
Thanks...anything you think I should add??
    Attachment 1
I-864 for Petitioner Marina XXXXXXXX and Beneficiary Wendel XXXXX
    Case Number: RDJXXXXXXXXXXXX
Cover Letter of Evidence Re-establishing Domicile in the
    United States of America
    To Whom it May Concern:
I, Marina XXXX, have lived outside of the United States since January 2009. Throughout this time I have kept a permanent address in Georgia at my parents home. I never intended to live permanently outside of the United States. I have always intended to return to the USA to finish my Bachelors of the Arts and live permanently. Please find below evidence of steps that I have taken to re-establish my domicile in the United States.
*Current Rental Agreement: for my husband and I to rent an apartment in Nowhere, GA starting on July 1, 2010
*Three bank statements from Any Bank (March 2006, October 2009, January 2010) showing that: I hold a bank account in the USA; I have kept a permanent address in Nowhere, Georgia; I have continued to pay bills in the USA
*Letter of Registration from Some College: showing that I have pre-registered for classes at Some College which begin on July 6, 2010 in Anothertown GA
*Print out of pre-registration: to show details of classes enrolled in and dates
*Copy of current GA drivers license: showing that I hold a permanent address in Nowhere, GA and that I have a current license. Original can be provided on request.
*Two Western Union Receipts (October 2009, March 2010) from my husband (acting on my behalf) to my mother in the USA for her to make deposits into my American bank account -one deposit can be seen on the Any statement from October 2009.
*Bill of Sale for my 1993 Laser Plymouth: this bill of sale is from 2007; however, I still own the car and it has been stored for me by my parents in the USA. Please see proof of upkeep for said car, below.
** Letter from GA department of Revenue Vehicle Registration Renewal Notice for November 18, 2009. This letter also shows a permanent address in the USA.
**Copy of Progressive Insurance Card valid from September 2009 until March 2010, under my name and with the make of the car seen above in the bill of sale (I think before the interview my mom will scan me my new card which would be valid from March 2010 until some distant date)
**Print out of payments made to Progressive for my car insurance each month
**Letter from the Georgia Department of Revenue from October 2009 showing that I paid US taxes and also showing my permanent address kept in the US
Please accept this evidence as proof that I intend to permanently move back to the USA upon the approval of my husbands CR-1 visa. Also that I have taken many steps to reestablish my domicile to the USA and that I have never completely given up my American domicile, as can be seen by my evidence.

Actually, just wanted to point out that the wife (if the father is married) does not HAVE to fill out an I-864A. The wife would only need to fill one out as well if they need both the fathers AND her income to go over 125%. If the father's income is over 125% alone then the wife doesn't need to do anything.

Don't stress Adichiwa. As the OP stated he is just starting on the I-130 so they haven't requested ANYTHING yet, but even if they had it might not be the same for you at all. Every consulate is different, so unless you two are going through the same consulate you probably wont have identical processes. In general what you stated above is true, but in Brazil for example (and this is new) they don't send a Packet 3 at all. I sent in the I-130, was approved and got an interview date at the same time. I have to bring the DS forms and I-864 all at the interview and since the I-130 I haven't them anything! Every consulate is different and sometimes even the same consulate can be different from case to case (which I'm guessing is just to stress us out! )
