Thank you for your post and congratulations. I have a question did you have to put your mask on all the time during the interview?

Yes, I had a mask on for parts and off for others. When I was doing the video interview portion, I had mask off because I was in the room alone. Here is a more detailed post that I did in reddit:

    Hi all,

Had my citizenship interview yesterday and I passed!

Went into the building 15 minutes before my appointment. The doors were locked. The security guard came up, asked me to read COVID-19 exposure/symptom questions and asked if any of these apply. After going inside, they went through my purse and I went through metal detector.

After that a gentleman called me up to a counter for photo and fingerprinting and went through my documents that I brought.

Once that was done, I went into an interview room where a tablet was set up for the interview. The same agent who went through the my documents delivered the interview from his office.

After swearing in, the interview began. Starting with biometrics questions. Then a word document went on the screen with a sentence that I was asked to read out loud. Then he printed a page and advised me to write the sentence he was about to give me on a specific section of the paper. Once completed, I held it up to the screen for his review. There was a document box beside me and I placed the form in there.

After written and verbal, he asked six biometric questions. And finally went through the questions about moral character and affiliations and defending the US

Printed some more pages about oath, attesting that the information I have was accurate (pretty sure this was before interview but it was all blur).

He then came into the interview and told me I passed and that they would love for me to attend the oath ceremony on Friday. I asked if there was anyway possible it could be done today because I have no idea what my Friday looks like at work and it's a 5 hour round trip to get to USCIS.

He went and talked to someone and they were able to do it same day. I went out into the waiting room and waited about 30 minutes.

A lady called me back to the interview room, I returned my green card, filled out the form confirming nothing has changed since my interview (😂) and then gave the oath of allegiance.

Long and short - very friendly and accommodating group and the interview felt way easier than any of my others with immigration.

    CIS Office : Portland ME

    Date Filed : 2020-07-16

    NOA Date : 2020-07-17

Bio. Appt. : Reused 2012 biometrics

    Interview Date : 2020-11-03

    Approved : Yes

    Oath Ceremony : 2020-11-03

  2. Became a US citizen 11/3/2020. Had my interview and was asked if I could come back for Friday oath ceremony. Problem is work is crazy and the USCIS office is 2.5 hours away from home so I asked if there was anyway we could oath same day. 30 minutes later, I was raising my right hand and saying the oath.

I ran to my car with a couple of tears, made it back in time to register and vote before polls closed. Perfect day.

I hope you all have a speedy adjudication of your cases and I'm glad my immigration journey has come to a close after living in the US since 2009.

    quick question

The civic test that we have to take, is it going to be Multiple choice ??

    It is not multiple choice.

What To Expect During The Real Test

The actual civics test is NOT a multiple choice test. During the naturalization interview, a USCIS officer will ask you up to 10 questions from the list of 100 questions in English. You must answer correctly 6 of the 10 questions to pass the civics test.

Certain applicants, because of age and time as a permanent resident, are exempt from the English requirements for naturalization and may take the civics test in the language of their choice. For more information, see our Exceptions and Accommodations page.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this "wait time" count down means nothing. Once you reach to end of it it changes to "We are taking longer than expected to process your case. You do not need to do anything at this time."

Maybe it meant something before but for the moment, although some ASC centers have started opening up, nobody in this forum (even April or late march filers) received a biometric appointment and it makes sense that USCIS schedules appointments on first come first serve basis.

With the Covid 19 and likely furlough I would not expect a biometric appointment any time soon and neither should you. USCIS announced that they are not waiting for biometrics to process applications so if they are right you should not be worried about the delays.

Enjoy your time. This is a waiting game like any other step of our immigration journey.

It's funny because I have another 4 years on my green card but now that I submitted my application I want instant results 😂. Forget the fact that there is truly no rush because it's not like it'd be complete in time for elections.

That's exactly what I submitted too! They didn't ask for anything else online. No tax returns not even a proof of my husband's citizenship..

So after my initial panic, I'm thinking we don't need to do any of that because we no longer require our spouses to seek citizenship. And worse comes to worse, we can always supply that documentation later 🤷‍♀️

  6. After a rather rash decision last night 😂, I applied for naturalization this morning. And reading this board is bringing back all those K1 anxieties where "couple a and b did this but we didn't, should we????"

Applied online, have been in the states now for 11 years. I sent in green card, marriage certificate for me and hubs, hubs divorce decree from prior marriage, our sons birth certificate, and that was it. Now I'm like tax returns??? We'll cross that bridge when we get there I guess lol.

Anyway, happy to be here. Stay well!

  7. Honestly, it all depends on the reviewer. I submitted a copy of our lease, 6 bank statements over the span of our marriage showing joint accounts, a joint vehicle purchase, a joint auto insurance policy, a joint tax return (my husband is also disabled but where I work I added him on the file) and a couple of photos. And that was enough. I think my view on things changed on their process once I came here. I work with medical insurance including military/government based policies. And, I've learned they usually want the bare minimum to get the claim processed. So, that's what I gave them, knowing that if they needed more they would ask and I would give. I hope everyone gets approved soon :)

  8. We sent the taxes for 2010 only. We filed 2011 in April 2012 and he did not live here or earn money here in 2009 even though we were married so he is not on that return.

Is it mostly taxes and bank statements people are getting asked for as RFE?

We sent in everything except for affadavits.

We sent in a huge packet of information. I included copies of mortgage on home and deed to summer place as well as utility bills for both places.

I included copies of our payroll checks and bank statements showing direct deposit into those accounts.I did not send many as I thought the idea was to confirm we share an account. It never occurred to me they want to see all of the statements. Hopefully we included enough stuff.

I'm just getting nervous because we are in the November VSC group.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much until you get an RFE, if that even happens. I included 2-3 pictures of my husband and I, 5 bank statements showing a joint account( one from 2009, two from 2010, and two from 2011), copy of our lease, copy showing a joint purchase of a vehicle, copies of our auto insurance showing a joint policy, and joint taxes from 2010. This was enough and nothing else was requested. You'll be fine :) They just need time, there are still some stragglers from October, and this guy I work with is filing for a K1 (from Feb) and hasn't heard back on that yet either.

  9. Received my approval text message and e-mail today from USCIS stating card production ordered on 8/17/12. Website was also updated! Yayyy!

  10. Well. You can appeal the bill for delivery and labor because she may have been eligible under your state Medicaid plan. I notice you are in Florida and this is what their Medicaid website has to say about pregnant non-US citizens.

"Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) For Non-Citizens

Noncitizens, who are Medicaid eligible except for their citizenship status, may be eligible for Medicaid to cover a serious medical emergency. This includes the emergency labor and delivery of a child. Before Medicaid may be authorized, applicants must provide proof from a medical professional stating the treatment was due to an emergency condition. The proof also must include the dates of the emergency."

http://www.myflfamilies.com/service-programs/access-florida-food-medical-assistance-cash/medicaid This is the website where information was pulled and when you go to the Florida government website they reroute you to myflfamilies.com

I would try to appeal the delivery/labor and set up a payment plan for her OB care, and if your child is not already covered by Medicaid apply for that as well. Hope that helps, and good luck!
