  1. Technically - we've never traveled internationally together. As much as I love Germany - I wasn't about to fly there just to turn around and fly back - Karin managed just fine by herself... A personal choice no doubt.

Definitely a personal choice. I would have like to make the trip together but instead, opted to meet her at LAX and drive her and he daughter the thousand miles home while we saw some of the USA. This instead of them overnighting in LA before continuing on.

Hey, that does still sound nice! A great way to welcome them to the US by showing them the sights! Good job! I'm really looking forward to showing my Solika the sights!

Yes I do understand that, especially in todays economy. I will be going to Cambodia and traveling back with my fiancee. She has never flown before and coming from asian countries can many times be very challenging to say the least!

  3. Yes, same for Cambodia. In addition to this, I have to write "NO MONEY INSIDE" on the outside of my packages and letters to my fiancee there, or she will mysteriously NEVER receive it! Crazy!

  4. Hey, we'll be getting married in Cambodia in late Feb...still in the planning stage so far. Thanks for your congrats!

I hope that's not going to be a legal wedding. You know you have to be legally married in the US when you use a K-1, right? If you are legally married in Cambodia, she will not be allowed into the US, and you'll have to start all over again with a K-3.

Oh, no problem, we already have completed the k-1 visa so it won't matter about that. We'll get married there in a traditional Khmer ceremony and the in the US also.

  6. congratulations

Hi, well, actually I made a little mistake and so it took up a little longer. When my fiancee mailed her application to the embassy in Phnom Penh, I thought maybe it would be a long time before we got an interview. But as I found out, its pretty quick. She got an interview date within about a week! The problem was that I did not send her all our paperwork yet and no way to get it to her in time for the interview. They did let us have an extension and everything worked out ok. I guess my point is, mail the paperwork you have to your fiancee as soon as you can. To this point, most things probably have gone pretty slow, but soon enough its starts going faster as you get through the process. Thanks for the congratulations and good luck with your process!

  7. Hi, guys!

Today I got word from my fiancee that our K1 Visa was approved!! What makes this extra incredible is that it was in the Phnom Penh Cambodia Embassy, where for the past year, the Cambodian government has had an ongoing ban on foreign marriages! Come to find out, they are still approving visas, but only on a case by case basis, and only a very few! Anyway, Overall, the K1 process was very easy and with the help of this site, we had ZERO problems! Thanks for all who gave advise. One tip that I found seemed to really help. I sent a ton of paperwork to my fiancee. What I mean is that if they asked for a letter from my work, I not only sent that but a copy of my paystub and any other supporting evidence as well. Any supporting paperwork , bank statements, printed pages from my bank account...anything I could find to support the required information. My fiancee said that the interviewer at the embassy was smiling the whole time because we sent SO much information!! I guess you can never have too much proof!

Marc congrats on you K1 Approval!!! when are you getting married??? I wish you both be together soon!!

I am still waiting for my NOA2 ... I hope it will come soon:)

  8. For the past year, the Cambodian government has had an ongoing ban on marriage to foreigners. It's been debated within the Khmer government many times with no resolution to date. But today, my fiancee had an interview at the US Phnom Penh embassy and she was APPROVED for our K-1 visa!! My fiancee said that she understood while there that they are still approving visas, but only at the interviewers decretion and maybe only a very few who have a lot of proof.

For those who have pending k-1 visa petitions with the US Cambodian embassy, there's still hope!

  10. Hi all,

I received a I-797, approval of my I-129f petition in the mail today after 100 days since I mail it. It reads: "The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate." (cambodia). BUT, goes on to say: "It has been noted this is your fourth approved I-129f petition"...............WHAT?? I have only ever sent one I-129f or any other petition for immigration in my life. The first one was hard enough....if I had done 4, I would be crazy by now!

Anyway, I called USCIS customer service and the lady was nice , but stated that she did not have more information as to why this said this. She suggested that I go online and schedule an INFO PASS appointment with my local USCIS office to try to further understand this. The local office is in Charlotte NC , about an hour away.

My question to anyone is: has anyone else run into this problem? Is it a problem? I just dont want this to hurt my case with the Cambodia consulate at interview time. thanks for the time guys~
