Not just here, government beaureaucrats are the same it appears, all over the world...
Yes, I tend to agree, but some are much worse than others!

More and more lately I am reading posts stating how stupid the USCIS is or how stupid the US government is.
Is this really all necessary? Ok, I will be the first to admit, I hate going to the social security office, the DMV, dealing with the USCIS or any government agency for that matter. BUT, compared to the rampent corruption of some country's governments, is it really that bad here? Can you deal with a few mistakes or the bad attitude of the lady at the SS office? We live in a free country where, yes, you can speak your mind and say what you feel. But again, I ask , given the freedoms that we all have and everyone who has immigrated here now have....is it really necessary? If you make a mistake on your visa petition or get an RFE, if it's your fault, its YOUR fault. Be an adult and correct it. Of the millions of petitions and applications they deal with each year (and growing), are they really that bad? Embrace America and all it's freedoms and most of all , TAKE IT EASY!
Just my thoughts. What do the VJ members think??
Because we are free to bash the Govt all we want. The Govt is not America, we are.
AND the government is made up of and elected by AMERICAN PEOPLE! Which came first the chicken or the egg??

The ones in Australia are awesome. Everyone who works there is white so it's all very efficient.
No "demographic" problems at all!
huh?

Make an infopass appointment at your local office and find out why you got a denial. Could it be that you did not send what they were looking for or is it just a mistake on their part? The only way to find out is to visit the local office and speek to a immigration officer.
The People at the 1-800 line are not USCIS staff they are a call center and they use scripts to answer your questions so unless it is a very basic question they do not know and even then they get the basic stuff wrong all the time.
I know what the problem was. They didn't get some of the federal income tax documentation, but my question is why in the world didn't they contact us to say that it's missing and awited instead until it was too late.
Why???? Because!!!! That is answer Because!!! This is an answer. If you will forget to send something or sign any document, what will happen??? I will tell you, YOU WILL PAY FOR IT!!! How? By waiting few more months….Ok Now look. If any of American’s worker in USCIS will forget something to send, sign, if they will last your case what will happen then??? You will pay for it bubububhahahahahaha …. How? By waiting few more months. Why it is like this BECAUSE it is USCIS With Stupid American’s workers and that is THE END !!! People please open your eyes look on your country and then you will see why USCIS is working as it is…..
OMG!

I was told by the US embassy in Phnom Penh that there is no way to re-schedule an interview date , but to just come in as soon as possible and explain the situation more. A major part of our visa package was not present and was still in the mail which made it impossible to do an interview on the scheduled day. My fiancee simply went back to the embassy about 2 weeks later, was granted an interview as a walk-in and was granted approval that day. I am sure if you have enough explaination, most interviewers will understand. HAHA, not ALL are evil!!

income I can deal with...I can have my mom help to co sponsor, but marriage soon after first face to face? You think that will really pose an issue? You think I have to wait longer to start the process, or you think I need to go visit again?? She is from Colombia, thats a big issue...is not exactly the safest for us gringos haha. Any suggestions on that? We are trying to do this right away because well, we are in love...we talked for about 10 months before this first face to face and then spent 16 days together in peru, and now want to be together for good. We just want to go about it the right way...any help is appreciated
As long as you have a co-sponsor you should be fine. For meeting only once, there are tons of couples that do that - just make sure you have a lot of proof of relationship.
And don't worry about the fact that your fiance is from Colombia. The MENA girls go through worse!
Hey, the "meeting only once" thing is just fine! My fiancee is not from a hispanic country, but from Cambodia. Either way , we only met one time in Cambodia and our petition was recently approved! As stated above, just make sure you have LOTS of proof and all should be fine.

I am now preparing all the documents that I got, mine is already complete, I just want to ask comment from you guys about these document that I got from my husband(petitioner) & our Co-sponsor.
Do you think this is enough tax document from them:
My Petitioner:
1-134 filled out & Notarized
Cert. Of Employment
Complete Pay stubs (2008 gross Income file)
2007 Tax Transcript
2007 W2
Explanation Letter why he has low income in 2007
Bank Statement
Co-Sponsor:
1-134 Filled out & notarized
Cert of Employment
ITR 1040 - 2007 & 2006 (the form show her huge gross income)
W2 - 2008 & 2006 photocopy..... NO 2007 ????
F 1099 R - 2007
Pay stub 1 ONLY, most recent... (said she lost her previous pay stubs)
ARE THESE TAX DOCUMENTS ENOUGH?
Hi, Marlo
I just completed my k-1 visa petition for my fiancee. The US embassy where she had her interview required that I provide the previous 3 years tax transcripts from the IRS. I was able to go to the IRS web page and order these transcripts , which were free by the way. It took only about 10 days for me to receive these.
-
Hi, I just recently requested the 3 years tax information from the IRS. It only took about 10 days to receive this and it was completely free. Very easy and no hassle. You can get the forms online on the IRS web site.

Wonderful!! Congratulations! Hopefully the hardest part is over!!

Soon I will purchase my fiancee's airline ticket. She is coming from Cambodia and this is her first flight. She will also be traveling alone. I have many deciding factors as to which airline. Price of course, is an issue, but also her POE. Is there a better point of entry? I am also looking at the time from when she enters the US and when she leaves for my city. How long does it typically take to complete her POE procedures? I don't want to schedule that too close and she misses her flight!

how important is letter from bank, i have all bank statements and w2,s and tax papers. is that enough?
Yes, it is enough. If you have verifiable income they will not even look at a bank letter. I gave the I-134, tax return, employment letter, bank letter and check stubs. They looked at the I-134, detached everything else and gave it back to me, never looked at it.
Although there are standard practices and processes in most US embassies, some may look at this and some may not. Also maybe up to the person viewing this their information as well.

I'm all for giving the USCIS more than they ask for or need. It never hurts to have too much information, but on the other hand, not enough can cause problems. You are obviously serious about doing your petition, give them serious information and don't cut corners. An official bank statement on official bank letter head is the way to go. Good luck in your journey!

I think, unless someone from ANY country is really interested in another country, they won't really have much of an idea where it is on the map, much less know about their climate or even what food they eat there. We here all have vested interest in another country and we probably know and have research that country a lot over your visa paths. Our everyday lives, as sad as some think, many times prevent us from know the world around us and that's why I think that all the members here are so lucky to know and share cultures from all over the world.......just my opinion

I hate to say my plans to go to Cambodia and get married to my fiancee in a traditional Khmer ceremony, have changed now. Really kind of disappointing.
Our plan was for me to go there, get married and then come back to the US together a week or so later. But, with my whole trip including both our air fairs costing close to $3200 total, we have decided that she will just come here alone. I feel really bad about that too. She has never flown before and I really feel I should be there to suport her during her journey. I guess on the bright side, we can save that money to travel a little in the US when she gets here (haha, and pay the house payment!!).
I wonder how many other VJ member's plans have changed due to our crazy economy?

Hey, thanks very much! Now I can learn "VJ language"

Ummm......not to sound like a "junior" member, but
There are SO many acronyms used here that sometimes I feel like I am reading a foreign language!!
I have looked up many of them in the index of terms here, but so many still elude me! Is there a list of more acronyms anywhere that I can learn from? This site is incredible, I just want to learn as much as I can so I don't miss anything!
Thanks to anyone who can help!

Well, its official! Today, my fiancee picked up her visa from the US embassy in Phnom Penh!
Overall, the entire K1 visa process seemed pretty easy with no real problems. But.......What's next??
I will go to meet her in Cambodia and we will travel back to the US together next month. Can any of the experienced ones here tell me what to expect after she arrives in the US, besides the marriage within 90 days? Any pitfalls, advice or suggestions? Just trying to plan ahead.
Thanks to all who make this site an incredible weath of information, which without, I feel very sure most of the visas and happy new families that it's created, would never happen!
US Government Bashing...why??

Sometimes I do agree. My point was just that some here make mistakes on their petition or fail to prepare properly and then come here and go on and on about how America sucks. Just an observation.
