My wife was asked for my police clearance when she was doing the cfo for her k-1. The councilors don't seem to really understand how the admin systems work in the USA, so it seems that you can get a local report from a city or county enforcement authority. I believe there was one report in here from a user that used a city report successfully.

sandwich in lax for $40. Unbelievable.

Final update: BI didn't ask to see her certificate. No one did. She could have not done the whole thing and it would not make a difference. I'm sure they ask some, but in this in case she was asked to show the certificate. She's on the way to the US now, I can't wait to see her.
-
Update 2: She got the certificate She was asked for my petition (i-129), my tax return, and Fbi clearance. I'll be waiting for false tax returns to be filed in my name next year
-
Update: She showed up in Quezon city and as of this writing is attending the seminar. I don't know what they made her show to get in, but everything is back on course for entry this weekend

This is the current plan we have come up with too. I'll post an update Wednesday, but I wanted to warn people so you know their scheduling system isn't very bright in regards to their own closures. Shocking right, wouldn't expect that from the Philippines....
-
She already has Visa, CFO will not allow scheduling an initial appointment without VISA number. We are going to try to get in on the 20th which would avert the crisis. Always something.
-
My fiance was scheduled for tomorrow Aug 19, but not long ago received a message stating that cfo would be closed for a non working holiday. They want to reschedule her for a time after her plane leaves on the 22nd. I thought I read in here someone said their appointment system is a farce and you can just show up to appointments? Seems they aren't working on the 21st either, making the 20th the only non holiday.

Well we are entering the relatively safe period of her 90 day visit in the next week. The dangerous point will be her entry in California. She has her valid k-1 visa so hopefully it will be uneventful and they let her pass. After that, I need to make a decision of wedding timing for us. I was going to take a month or so, but it looks like time is of the essence and I'm thinking it's better to get it done with and get the paperwork filed ASAP, just for safety alone. So, diverting focus isn't something I want to do as the political climate here becomes more and more dangerous. Your experience will help me to decide, thank you again.

Thanks for sharing your experience and I'm hopeful you get clearance. I'm about to embark on the i485 journey soon as well and my biggest fear is very similar to what you are going through. It just seems to me like there is a period between the expiration of the 90 day visa clearance and the issuance of the green card where the fiance is very vulnerable to getting picked up for no reason. In your case they did have a technical reason, but under the current administration people are getting picked up for the slightest of errors in a very very difficult process. So far I haven't seen too much attention on K-1 recipients but it seems to be quickly nearing.

I'm thinking of sending her off with about a hundred dollars. That should be more than enough barring some massive catastrophe. I only used $50 on my trips to Philippines. Short layovers in 2 airports each time. She won't be in Japan very long at all, so I'm not too worried about the yen. I don't expect her to have much opportunity to spend in Japan. It's mainly getting her US dollars for California.
-
I'm curious how to handle travel funds. She has no way to store USD, it must be converted PHP. She's going to be leaving this month and will have a layover in Japan and California. She needs Yen in Japan and USD in Cali. Normally, I'm doing a single conversion USD to PHP. She doesn't really need PHP for her trip though. So if I send her say $100, well is it to be transferred to PHP and then back to Yen or USD? Each exchange takes a small amount of the value. When I traveled I used my credit card in Japan so there was just a USD to Yen which is fine. Do you just accept the double exchange, it's not the end of the world but I would rather not do it if I don't have to.

I didn't go to cdo, but during the time I was there I made use of Grab when I was most desperate, but ideally I used trike and Jeepney. She did the negotiating with the drivers. I would not want to drive on Philippine streets. It's just completely different from USA driving.
-
I feel blessed to have gotten my fiance through it so swiftly. I hope the rest of your journey is quicker.

Isn't the medical good for 6 months if there's no TB findings? My fiance was approved this month, but she needs 30 day notice on resignation so have to wait a month. She did the medical earlier this month.
-
I'm having trouble finding the 4 hour layovers in the US. The best is about 2 hours that I've found so far.
-
Did you wait in the USA for her to get here? How did it go?
-
We elected for pickup. She was approved on the 15th and I got the message at midnight on the 17th in my email. I didn't get an SMS message and I am in eastern US time. I hope you get it soon.

While you definitely make a very good point, all of it except for the first sentence is misguided by 1 small detail: The marriage is not occurring in the Philippines! The point of asking for a cenomar is to make sure that the foreigner is not married. Ok. Well the Cenomar no record result only tells the councilor that the foreigner hasn't married a filipino citizen. This would make the foreigner eligible to be married in the Philippines. Now let's look at more facts. IF the couple is applying for a K1 visa, like I am, then we know some facts: Both claim to not be married The couple wants to be married in the USA, not the Philippines The Visa is approved While the counselor should not be doing random bs to harass the couple, the CFO states their mission is to stop what is essentially trafficking. So the actions taken by the counselor should align with this mission(yes you are right it's the Philippines and sometimes they do backwards stuff). If the actions are mission aligned, then what needs to be discovered is if the American has been married in America, because that is where the couple has been approved by the US government to be married. With that all said, I'm sure there are some people that have tried to pull a fast one and bring a Filipino to America to be married even though they are already married in the Philippines. You are definitely right on your logic in that. You are right in your first statement that we all have to play the CFO game, because they hold the power. But what's the big deal? The big deal is that even though I have to play the game, I think it's a stupid game. Mostly because they are not listing this as a primary requirement and placing this power in an individuals hands. We all know that there is rampant corruption and crab mentality in the Philippines. In fact, if I was rich enough, I would not even have to do CFO because the NAIA guards can easily be paid off. I've heard some say that if the Filipino shows a bank certificate with 4k USD, they will let the citizen pass. If that's not true, they can just be paid off directly. The guards have put their jobs on the line for much less (remember the female that swallowed a passengers $20 USD bill?). The CFO process is mostly BS. I do agree with their mission and definitely with imparting the knowledge of what to do if abused in a foreign land, that is extremely scary. However, I do believe that a lot of the recent scrutiny of applicants is a knee jerk reaction to the guy that recently murdered his filipino wife and the Philippine government wants to look like they are doing something, even though they are mostly powerless. They do have power to help the ones that stay in the Philippines married to abusive local partners, but I doubt there is much traction there. Anyone not familiar with the event, you can do.a search or look at this tragic news post: https://people.com/husband-allegedly-murdered-wife-days-after-came-overseas-meet-8774622#:~:text=Newlywed Wife Is Allegedly Stabbed, psychiatric hospital following his arrest. CFO could have maybe prevented her from dying by refusing to let her leave the country after seeing that he had arrests in his home country. However, seeing what he's capable of, why couldn't he just beat and stab her in the Philippines? He can! So the CFO is powerless whether they let her go or whether she stays. It's way easier to get away with Murder in the Philippines than it is to get away with it in Europe. Again, you are 100% correct, they have the authority, we have to play their game.

Alright sure. Lets have a look at the stats gathered by this site. Recorded on this site: K1 Visa's total records for Philippines as of today recorded for this site = 2119 IR1 Spousal Visas for Philippines = 408 Total visas = 2517 It doesn't take much sense to realize this is a tiny number. There's over 8 billion people on this planet. Over at census.gov it shows that about 342,000,000 of the people on Earth are American. The 2.5k is starting to look super small now. So how many of the 342m Americans are married Americans? According to USAfacts.org about 47% of USA households are married. So lets attach that to the 342m. 160740000. Those are couples, so we need to split that in half. Making 80370000 men and women each. So, since we are talking about an international marriage (an American to a foreign national) at least one of these people would not be included in the stat(the 160 million). Therefore if every single visa recorded by this site was approved and resulted in a marriage to a foreign national, we end up with this figure: 0.001573125% 2517 is 0.00157312% of 160 million So please tell me how it's not even 1% of marriages are to filipinos and you want to debate with me when I say that most Americans marry other Americans? It really isn't that hard to understand. In my state alone I barely see Filipinos here and most of the couples walking around are white. These are very easy to calculate and visualize. I don't see how you drew a connection between these numbers and my specific case. There isn't much of a connection. Insulting my knowledge of Philippine culture is based on what? We aren't having a discussion of culture here, how could you have any benchmark of what I know? I learned to speak Tagalog and even a tiny bit of Cebuano Bisaya. I'm sure most of the Foreigners here on this site dedicating themselves to a Filipino have not done that. I understand I made you mad, so you are shooting in the dark to make me look bad, despite clearly making an error in understanding. If you want to de-escalate this you can. Take a look at what I've presented, read my past comments again, and if you see your error then come back and admit it. If you want to keep debating me, you are welcome to, it excites me but this is one of the less challenging debates I've engaged in. Just so we are clear, the object fact and foundation of my position is: Most Americans marry Americans

I'm trying to plan out the entry. I live in the Orlando area. Flights don't come directly here. So she's going to enter elsewhere. I'm trying to assess whether I should fly to her entry airport or let her do the connecting flights to get to Florida. If they take her to secondary screening I want to be available for the officers to question.
