It depends.... that program was cut for I-765 & N-400 applicants. It did affect some I-485 applicants by mistake but Jaycel received her card automatically with no issue

Yeah it's just what I read online, it seems it only affects some people, not sure what the deciding factor is. Butttt it's best to know and potentially look at scheduling an appointment because mine was a 2 month wait LOL

Congratulations! Must have been hard and stressful going through all those rejections. Would appreciate if you could share what the reasons were for the rejection. I would like to see a section dedicated to interview experiences.. It will be very helpful

The first one was due to a mistake on the 485. I accidentally marked that I was filing as a spouse of a USC, but I was filing as a K1 visa holder. Very confusing as I am a spouse lol. The second one was due to money. The bank took some money related to a car loan (even though it had been paid off, just a fee or something months after) that made our balance a little lower than the amount they tried to pull... So that's another rejection lol. We went with money orders after that to not have that risk again. Really simple dumb rejections haha

This is a natural thing to do, but can harm some applicants. I did my adjustment with a lawyer, and recommendation was to give short answers, stories was a big no-no.

So the question how we met was answered in a short sentence: "we met at a conference".

And this was enough and satisfactory.

    The problem with stories:

    1) Officer doesn't have time to listen

    2) When they do, they may use details against you! Or ask to elaborate on each point

So unless they ask for long answer, general advice is to keep things short!

My worry was sounding too rehearsed/robotic. And my husband is a talker, so I doubt he'll ever give short answers LOL. But we'll keep this in mind for the next time, if needed.

And yeah, there's nothing on my phone I'm worried they'll find, but one thing out of context can get you in so much trouble... So that's also partially why I didn't want to risk it at all!

Don't kill yourself on it today.... Even if they approve it today, you won't get an email and it won't show in your portal until tomorrow. Our officer said she was approving us that day but that there's a 24 hour delay in what they do in their system and when it shows up in our portal. Sure enough, 25 hours after we left the office, we got the email and the status had changed to "Approved". Also keep in mind that if they are an officer that needs supervisory review of their cases, it can take a bit longer. So try not to drive yourself too crazy :)

Alright so tomorrow afternoon the checking starts.. Gotcha 😜
That's very helpful to know though, thank you!

I think it's officer specific.... We got one here in the Denver FO at the end of our interview but our friends who went to the same office 6 days later, had a different officer and did not get one

Ahhh okay, that puts my mind to ease a little bit hahaha. I guess now we’ll be checking my email every 10min to see if anything changes LOL

Our officer (different from your officer) at Dallas told my wife (during her N-400 interview) that I am "a talker"......we passed the I-751 interview, so I guess it was OK.

LOL. I sometimes was thinking ‘honey I’m sure she doesn’t care where the nearest A&W spot is…’ but yknow, just let him yap!! I just hope I didn’t forget anything due to nerves and his talking hahah. We’re gonna scan everything we can to prepare for anything that comes up next.

only odd thing is we didn’t get anything that said ‘hey you had your interview’ like I’ve seen here, but maybe that’s just office specific?

I hate how basically you’re just still back to waiting LOL

    @Rachel n Tyler

I agree with this too. We did a cover letter listing (which we printed off and uploaded online) what our evidence consisted of and on it we also explained for any evidence we didn't have the reason why. The ISO never said anything to us about this but as @Edward and Jaycel said, if they do ask you then just explain to them the reason why you haven't been able to provide it.

Alright, thanks guys! Hopefully that can calm him down a little bit haha.

You are fine with what you have :) And yes go over the Yes/No questions from the I-485 - Specifically have your husband read them aloud to you. It's very different reading them in your head and answering than it is to hear them asked aloud. This helped Jaycel when it came time at the interview for the officer to ask a bunch of these. Did you scan and upload your evidence into the portal under the "Unsolicited Evidence" section?

Most of it has been uploaded so far yes. Some of it was new and I haven't yet, doing it this weekend! I was hoping to get all of it to scan it at once, but issues adding me to the insurance so might as well upload everything anyway.

Do you recommend adding everything in separate files or just one big pdf for all of it?

I'll make sure he remembers that we answered yes to two questions (about breaking visa terms due to my paperwork being rude lol) so we won't get in trouble lol

However, it depends on the case and the officer. Just be aware of what you wrote in your application, because officer said mentioned that many people come to interview and answer opposite of what they answered in the application.

I'll make sure to study what I wrote, and make my husband study too LOL. I wrote the truth, so I don't think I'd say anything different. But it's smart to check over just incase

During my interview, they didn't ask that much just have a copy of I-864 and I-485 since that's what they asked me and other required documents listed in the interview notice. Have birth certificate with translation, passport id, social security card and evidence other than call logs and pictures. Like bills, joint bank account, car insurance, health insurance, lease which had both names. That is all they asked me.

I prepared so much but they barely asked of anything. Don't be nervous.

Ah, so it might be enough already then. I can probably add renters insurance with both our names too, that should be enough.. Phew, that gives me some hope

  11. Friends, do you have a list of things you brought to the interview as proof? I'm finishing most of mine and I'm wondering if I can bring more..

Right now I got a lot of pictures, the lease I was added to, shared bank account, marriage certificate, my birth certificate, my vaccination sheet from the medical, a new 864, his birth certificate, my EAD, my SSN card..

I'm waiting for our new lease and the documents that state I was added to his insurance, and I'm thinking WHAT ELSE!! It feels so little?
