If you live in one of the 5 states that issue enhanced ids, your wife can get one within 2 weeks of applying (she needs to have taken the oath), and then travel via Canada/Mexico (needs to drive there first + board the flight at, say, Toronto. Basically she can only use land border w/ the enhanced Id).

But from Sept 27 -> Oct 24... there is no time even for that.

Wife filed more than a year ago.  This is what my wife's account shows right now:

At said interview I wore this: https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E458183-000/00?colorDisplayCode=03&sizeDisplayCode=004 (bought for the occasion. W/ a darkish - for contrast - gray t-shirt, and black - but spanking new - black jeans).

@M+K IL at the biometrics I wore what I wear at the grocery store/DMV. So did everybody else (but I never wear shorts).

Interesting. I used to be a developer, and when people would come to ask sth, I always tried to make sure they had - at least somewhat - attempted to solve the problem themselves (before coming to me).

Very welcome. We are here to learn; and this forum is a god send in many ways (kina like stackoverflow ;-})

How long do you think? Also, what would the questioning be like? (Also, what can the officer do if you refuse to answer? De-naturalize you on the spot?)

PS In all fairness, there was something in the law about obtaining the citizenship with the intention to abandon the country. Murky + practically unenforceable. In any event, this language was removed from the law in the mid-late 90s.

In Manhattan they do not do them same day (anymore. They did them during COVID, as per the lawyer - who is co-responsible for the "divorced" entry). I seem to remember they did one recently - but in Brooklyn! Will have to  check again.

Thank you so much for your help! (from somebody who was seriously considering moving to Sweden, before settling for NY).

I watch to support my dear friend @Rocio0010 who is a valued friend of the show.
Last week, I watched for the first time in several months and caught your show… I don’t watch Hacking because since I’ve moved to the US I’ve discovered cable TV and the smorgasbord of streaming options I had no access to in my previous country. 😉

Very hard to bring myself to do it.

Many people could use relief from a sinus infection, too. But bringing it up (esp more than once), at a venue where people discuss serious conditions...

I had the same day oath ceremony in Manhattan in May this year. I got my certificate 15-20 min after the interview, so I'm pretty sure they print them out right there.

In normal parlance Unmarried includes divorced, widowed and presumably annulled.

Somewhat off-topic, but it was ...easy.

When I described the situation to the lawyer, at the time
    a) she was unfazed (told me right away "no problem, we will file and the conditions will be removed")
    b) she did not even submit all the info I gave her (to my surprise she submitted no pictures, only 2 of the - many - affidavits, etc etc).

Things may have gotten harder, since - I do not know.

    I know 🙂

This seems to be a bit of a gray zone - the DS-11 passport application form will ask you if you have ever been married but offers no choice that really fits your situation other than assuming annulment = the marriage never happened. To ensure the naturalization certificate does not have conflicting info with DS-11 your best bet is to get the certificate corrected.

Unless you're in the last oath ceremony of the day chances are good they'll be able to give you an updated one the same day. Since you hand in your green card at the ceremony, the naturalization certificate is your only proof of status at that point, so I don't think they'll send you home without it.

I did a same-day oath roughly an hour after my approved interview, so I assume they have the required printers there. In fact I think it's mainly the paper stock that is special.
