  1. mine opens on the 23rd july so I’m sending mine in on the 30th. That one week won’t make the slightest difference when they’re taking 2+ yrs to process them anyway and I have total comfort that it’s not going to arrive early and be rejected
  2. you say better life for “her and her family”. Is she wanting to bring other family members to US as well? That can be a very different process and timescale
  3. hi. This is what I did for us. No perspective etc. just names and location. They already know who is who. Hope it helps (and pic opens!) Chris photos.pdf
  4. it won’t be an issue. They have a digital record of you and tbh know a lot about you anyway. They prob have a record of what colour underwear you had on that day! (Joke). if you’re worried anyway you can check your I-94 record online and see the info on there.
  5. did you also file your US taxes every year, even when abroad?
  6. that’s not true. It’s up to 90 days. it’s VERY common to be admitted for the full 90, yes, but my point was if they are concerned it’s being used incorrectly, they can choose how long. I had my ESTA admittance once marked for less than 90, but that was due to when my passport was expiring. it definitely IS NOT 90 days or nothing. Please don’t spread mis information.
  7. hi hopefully it will all be fine for you and her, but don’t forget she might not be admitted for 85 days. They make the decision when she arrives and it’s possible they only allow her to stay for a few wks or so. She should be ready to deal with this and how she would deal with the flight home, especially as you say it is non changeable. How would she buy a flight home after a month, for example? would be good for her to be ready for these types of challenges just in case, as well.
  8. It is a very easy question to answer. you tell the truth. how is he supporting himself and you? If you know that answer, then that is what you say. There’s no trick or magic answer.
  9. just for clarity for everyone, you mean day 85. Not 95. The days count down. So 85 days before the 3 yr period.
  10. it’s required before they let you board, but can be done at airport. The requirement is a US thing that airlines have to do.
  11. 15 days isn’t unusual. I wouldn’t worry. I’m sure it will come this week. Do you have the tracking info?
  12. hi. Did the officer say congratulation etc and keep your passport? In which case everything is fine and I wouldn’t worry about the status. Those things aren’t always quite up to date anyway. You’ll have your passport and visa in a few days. London doesn’t take long (mine was 8 days including a bank holiday weekend)
  13. yes you are correct. Def different state to state. I think several are 12 months but there’s def some that are not. Just another one of the quirks of which state you move to! good catch/correction
  14. I took my passport and my green card, plus my social security number you can drive on your U.K. licence for up to 12 months in US
  15. im not an expert on NH, but from what I can see, you are unable to get a drivers licence there if you are on a K1 visa
  16. hi. You don’t ‘transfer’ your U.K. licence. It has no relevance to the state. You need to go whatever the local state requires as if you were getting a licence for the first time (written and or driving test) depending on which state it is. I moved to California and had to pass the online test then do a fairly simple 20 min driving test. Some states are similar, many are easier. this is how you get one in NH https://www.dmv.nh.gov/drivers-licensenon-driver-ids/apply-your-first-drivers-licensenon-driver-id
  17. hi. You have the dates and info, just in a kinda jumbled up way. you can file 751 to remove conditions on a CR1, 90 days before it expires. This will take many months to process (often 1-2 yrs) so they issue you a temporary extension to your current one whilst that is processing. Then approx 1 yr later once you have been married AND LIVING TOGETHER (very important) for 3 years, you can file n400 for citizenship application. You are correct - this cannot be approved without your 10 yr green card being issued too, but they do allow you to apply, and in most cases this speeds up the process above and you end up with a combined interview/process. Hope that helps. Plenty of guides and info on here about each one of those. Best of luck!
  18. exactly same for me too. I think I prob entered 6 times using ESTA whilst my 130 was processing (mixture of holiday and work trips)
  19. don’t forget though that the U.K. tax year runs April to April so any tax paperwork etc issued by U.K. will not exactly cover the 12 months to align with US tax year
  20. you are correct. Real ID is US/domestic flights only. However an international passport (provided valid and in date etc) is basically real ID anyway. If you have the passport there is not any specific need for anything else. The only benefit to having real id is so you don’t need to carry your passport on domestic only flights plus it’s marginally quicker for TSA but I’m splitting hairs. Don’t worry. Foreign passport is perfect still.
  21. why would that give you an expedited visa?
  22. ah. Yes you may be right. I was talking about the social security number/card. Apologies
  23. sadly not. Wish you could. And tbh there’s only about a 50% chance you’ll actually receive it too without having to go down to your local social security office. There’s plenty of people on here (incl me) who did everything right…yet never received the card through the post.
  24. this is 100% true, but ironically they actually DO provide a calculator!! Wish more people would use it! https://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-early-filing-calculator
  25. it was rejected cos you filed too early. 90 days before Nov 13 is August 15th. That’s the earliest you could have filed. this is yet another reminder to others in similar situation. Why try and hit the perfect date when it makes very little difference given how long the process takes. File at 75-80 days before and remove any doubts or chance of this happening.
