  1. You do not need to change the names for the passport or drivers license to reflect the married name upon filing for the I-130. Based on legal counsel I had received, the name of the wife could be changed to reflect the married name, but you could submit the passport as is.
  2. I'm also in favor of the CR-1. My partner and I had weighed the pros and cons while we were trying to decide whether to bring him to the US as a fiancé (preferred) or get married. In the end, after seeing the processing time (80% at 16 months), and the I-130 (80% about 13.5 months), DS-260 for the CR-1/IR-1, the processing times seemed to be similar (possibly CR-1/IR-1 a little bit shorter potentially) and you could work in the US right away upon arrival whereas with the K-1 you are stuck in limbo after getting married (being unable to work, waiting for adjustment of status, etc.). Overall I'd highly recommend the CR-1 route
  3. Thank you for this info! Super helpful and I'll keep an eye out for this when the time comes 🤗
  4. Correct. They were filed at the same time (sent via mail). I had assumed that since the case for the minor was contingent on the acceptance of the case for my husband that the cases would be "lumped together" (sounds silly now that I think of it... 😬) and that their cases would go hand in hand automatically. I just got thrown off by the two receipts/two cases and how that impacted interviews and (hopefully) approvals.
  5. Thank you for this advice! I didn't realize that you could ask NVC for the beneficiaries to be interviewed together. Much appreciated
  6. Thank you. This is what I was hoping. I just got worried because I received two separate NOA1's (even though they were filed together) and was unsure if the process would be different than what I was expecting.
  7. Hello Everyone! Extremely new here and very new to the process. Apologies for any newbie questions I might have. So I filed an I-130 for both my spouse and his daughter (who is 11). I know that this will be super far into the future, but since they are separate cases (technically), they will have separate interviews correct? Would my spouse be able to attend the interview/consulate with her during this interview, or how would the process typically be like for a minor beneficiary who is overseas? Is there anything we need to prepare for? I imagine that the interview will not be as grueling as the interview for the spouse but it would be great to have an idea of what to expect. Many thanks in advance!
  8. Hello Everyone, Married on 4/19/2023. Filed for my Husband and his daughter May 19, 2023 and received a NOA1 on May 23, 2023. Hoping for a decent timeline where I'm not waiting years. I also saw recommendations to submit a K-3 application, but I don't know what that would entail. So much information to read up on and so out of my depth 🤣😭
