  1. I received my NOA2 on 1/21/2024. Shortly after i received the I-797 letter in the mail stating that my approval period is from 1/22/2024 to 5/21/2024. I emailed the NVC and i got the following response from them:

    "To Whom it Concerns:

The National Visa Center (NVC) has received your petition from U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services.  Your NVC case number is ISLXXXXXXXXXX.  Due to your petition type, you will not receive a request for fee payment or document submission.

All case parties will be notified when this petition is forwarded to the assigned U.S. Embassy/Consulate General.

For the most up to date information about the U.S. Embassy or Consulates current operating status, please visit their website at https://usembassy.gov.

    Regards,"

Its April now and I havent received any letter in the mail. What should I do about the approval date if its expring in May? Will they extend it automatically? I tried contacting NVC again about this last week and have received no response yet. Please let me know if there is anything I should be doing. My fiancee is in Pakistan.

    Thanks.

    5)  The consulates can extend the validity of an approved I-129F in 4-month periods for up to one year.  E-mail them with the A# in the Subject line to request this, if necessary.

4), 6), 7)  You'll both be compiling evidence of your bona fide relationship to take to the consular interview.  You have no VJ timeline (make one, please :) ), but your posting history indicates Pakistan, which is not easy.  If you front-loaded your I-129F package with relationship evidence, super; if not, take a large amount of such material.  It's highly prudent that you arrange to be present on the consular premises, or within range, during your fiancee's interview, when the date is known.

Become an "A" student of the entire legal-immigration process -- it pays off.  Regarding forms:  Read carefully, interpret instructions literally, and answer completely & honestly.  These hints will ease your immigration journey.

Thanks. My I-129F was very front loaded with the engagement photos, other parties, and chat logs. Also statements of willingness to marry etc. Should I wait for the NVC letter then send out an extension request? Also when am I able to complete DS-160?

  3. So I found out my I-129F has been approved. I was doing some reading and basically this is what happens now:

    1) USCIS will send me a letter that my case has been approved and they are sending it NVC

    2) After a few weeks, NVC receives the case and assign it a number. NVC will send me a letter with this case number.

    3) NVC will then send it to the embassy/consulate of my fiancee's country.

    4) ONce the embassy receives it, we then have to prepare DS160 and I-134F

    5) My fiancee then takes the medical exam and schedules the interview appointment

    6) During the interview she provides DS160, I-134F and other forms

    7) She then receives the K1 Visa after the embassy/consulate makes the decision

Correct me if im wrong somewhere here.

Also my fiancee is in pakistan

    My questions are:

    1) I was reading somewhere, that I should call NVC instead of waiting on them to provide me a letter with the case number. Is this still the case?

    2) How do I track the status of the case once it reaches NVC?

    3) When exactly are DS-160 and I-134F forms needed?

    4) What other forms do we need to prepare or what other documents can I gather?

    5) Can the I-129F approval be extended? IF so who should I contact and what is the benefit to this?

    6) Will my fiancee be preparing the forms and documents from now or do I the petitioner have anything else to complete?

    7) Can I help my fiancee with the forms and documents?

Its just so confusing after NOA2. All info would be appreciated

I believe all who go through the Nikkah also know they are married in the eyes of Islamic Law ..and knowingly chose not disclose the ceremony…

Please ask your brother if his fiancé presented any photos of the ceremony at her interview or if she was asked any questions about their ceremonies/ engagement…

So he got engaged than applied for 1-129f/k1. She then did the interview and was issued a k1 visa. After that my brother and family went to go do the nikkah and bring her here for court marriage. This was back in 2015. It happened so fast. Like 7 months from application to legal marriage in states.

The I-129F will still be pending. Currently, it is taking 13 months to approval. You will be finished with your training long before the petition is approved.

Your brother or "your brother"? What was his timeline and when did he go through the process and are you sure it was a K1 and not spousal visa

You can see Pakistan timelines here:

    https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=0&op1=4&op2=d&op3=&op4=3&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=California Service Center&op66=All&op7=Pakistan&dfile=No&adv=0

A member who filed a petition August 2021 just recently interviewed in February 2023 (18 months)

Another member filed a petition June 2021 and interviewed January 2023 (19 months).

Your partner will probably interview next July 2024 - if you stay on top of things and are able to schedule an appointment - sometimes difficult as interview dates are difficult to come by...

Good luck! But, don't worry about Academy conflicting with her ability to move here.

Hey thank you so much. Even if it does happen while I’m in academy, I’m just going to get my parents to chaperone her to academy and marry her over the weekend.

Islamabad is slammed. Just like for Immigration visas there's a 2 year wait. K1's are so rare there but you got a good 2 years before you even get a interview. If things don;t change. So really there's no issue.
But to answer your question no there's no extension by you of your NOA2.

Also you aren't planning the Nikkah are you? If you do Nikkah, you are considered married and void your K1. And yes the embassy does check since those are registered. There  has been a big problem with this and why K1's are so dare rare from Islamabad.

Yeah it is the nikkah. So I will adjust and avoid doing it over there. I guess I will bring her here and have the nikkah. But my question is my brother did the nikkah and then came over here and did the legal marriage in the court. How did that go through?

Your course could start this time next year and you would be OK, you can also delay things at various points.

Religious Ceremony? The K1 might not be for you.

What things can I delay? Any information would be appreciation. I know I will be okay but I my anxiety is getting the better of me

  8. Hi Everyone,

I got engaged to my fiance back in January and filed my I-129F in Early February. I got my NOA1 on Feb 14th 2023. Everything so far is good. The only thing I want to ask is this:

    1) I might soon be starting Federal Police Academy (This is six months long)

    2) With above mentioned situation, I know that after the K-1 is issued, I have six months to go pick her up and bring her here to marry her within 90 days. I have no problem marrying her within 90 days of her arriving in the US. My only worry is if the K1 is issued while im in the middle of police academy. There is no way I can get out of police academy until its complete. Can I request to be given more time to be allowed to go get her and bring her back here?

This is for Pakistan. Please let me know.

    Thanks so much.
