We are all keeping track of the slow processing at ISL embassy for IR1/CR1. Wanting to start this thread to share IL/DQ dates, interview tips or questions and spread hope. 😇

It's so weird bc if it's AP I believe they will give him 221G or ds5535 not approval letter and if not at the time of interview then some poeple get an email for more paperwork if needed this is so bazaar I think did he check his email, junk and spam? We can just pray 🙏🏽🤞 of anyone else knows any case like this please share your thoughts thx.

What does your husbands case say on CEAC? it seems like its in AP, sad truth is many men end up in AP while many women dont end up in AP because embassy knows 90% of pakistans females stay at home and dont have much of a background to check while men do. My sister husband had his interview in 2022 April 27 and they gave him 221g form basically he failed and than responded to him on 2023 March and told him we are reviewing your case and than in May 2023 they told him to redo medical because it expires 6 months and he did did his medical again June 2023 and now its been 1.5 month they havent responded to him. So my sister husbands been stuck in AP since April 27, 2022. Like i said many men get to AP and many women dont get into AP.

Hi @podeena I'm having a similar situation - my husband had his interview in March and he still hasn't gotten his passport. After they interview they gave him a "congratulations" paper so we assumed we'll get the passport back in time. We still haven't 4 months later and his medical will expire at the end of August....when we inquire - the email from ISL says "your case is awaiting counselor review." Is that the same as AP??

Really?? They can still deny after the CO'S approval? And if i did the mandamas due to delay, on what grounds would they refuse...simply because I'm requesting a timeline on when my husband will get his passport back?? That's so petty 😧

Embassy is really busy nowadays as we all know. If CO approved and you dont have any issue with the documents you will get answer soon. Good luck. Just be patience

The problem with filing a mandamus petition in this situation is that the delay is likely not to USCIS's error or dragging its feet. The delay is due to the extra time it takes to do background checks ("administrative processing") with a country that keeps poor records and/or is not particularly cooperative with the U.S. If a decision is forced in a strict timeline, which is essentially what a mandamus petition does in regards to immigration, they cannot approve the visa without finishing the necessary administrative steps that occur after the interview.

Quite frankly, 7 weeks is not a long wait at all for AP in Pakistan. For now it is best to just hang tight and see if a positive outcome occurs in the next few weeks.

Background checks take as long as they take. I don't think a WoM applies here or would be good advice, because the worst case scenario is it just ends in a denial because the beneficiary hasn't been fully cleared/vetted.

A ton of people have experienced this. Applicants from Pakistan go through extensive AP due to poor record keeping in the country. Nothing you can do but wait - it can take weeks or months, or sometimes more.
