FINALLY got my green card (IR-1/CR-1)! Interviewed in mtl Jan 11 2023, got DS 5535, sent in my answers the day after. No WOM filed. Did have senators reach out to the consulate. Received an email for a new updated medical and passport to be sent back to consulate end of september. visa status changed to Issued today.

I am rooting for all of you to settle this nightmare ASAP. I have received my passport with the stamp from the consulate and I am good to go at the time of my choosing. A lot to settle up here first however. I am thinking about entering for a few days and coming back, although I am apprehensive about CBP giving me a hard time about not just moving down in one shot. Some people have reported being hassled by them when entering...

Okay, thank you! I hope you, p3p, and everyone else here basically gets cleared fast! I was curious to see how lengthy it can be and just be prepared in advance

To be honest I didn't even get a stamp the last time I entered US, but I'm assuming it would be B2 as the few other times I've gotten a stamp it's said that. Just frustrating to hear that I maybe could have just showed up in the USA 2 years ago, filed a change of status and have already been working and living with my spouse there over the past year.

Instead, I (and many people here) have chosen to go the CR-1 or IR-1 route because we wanted to be honest and forthright with our intentions, and yet we are shuffled off to the side and delayed upon delayed by the bureaucratic processes - even when we have proven we would be valuable citizens to the USA (no criminal record, valuable skills). We are separated from our family cruelly and unjustly, and absolutely nothing is being done about it. If anything, the delays are now getting longer.

Makes you wonder if it wouldn't be better to just show up and say "hey I want a new status" and avoid all of this bureaucratic BS.
  16. Thanks

    Hi Everyone
Just wondering if anyone has any interesting information that might lead to an explanation for the apparent radio silence we're experiencing right now with these Visa applications. Perhaps anyone who has spoken to Lawyers and gotten their perspective on the current situation. As it stands we know that WOM's are getting push back now, particularly WOM's filed within 6 months of the Interview. I've heard that the conflict in the Middle East might even be having an impact on visa timelines right now. All in all just trying to hear other peoples views and maybe someone has heard something through an Immigration lawyer as you would think that they would be up to date on any issues connected with Immigration. Hard to make sense of it all so would like to see if others are interested in discussing this further.

We contacted both my fiance's senators and his congressperson while we were dealing with the DS-5535 process.  There wasn't much they could do, but it did make us feel like we were at least trying every option. I'm not sure it will help in your case, but you're so close that a little nudge might be good. I hope you get positive movement soon!

There are members here who's new baby recieved the DS3555 so please do not take it to heart. It truly is random, lawyers are wanting your money that is it that is all. They will give you any reason to keep charging you.
Why else would they not tell clients that cases all over are being dismissed pretty regularly since July after a Judge declare 180 some days is not long at all and they are charging 5K plus when ppl are only 3 months in.
