SerenityNOW got a reaction from Michael2017 in Medical experience in VITA/Greenberg Clinics - Sofia, BULGARIA
    Update for 2013...
The Vita link below works, Greenberg does not but I haven't found a better one. The phone numbers are listed on the current sheet for Bulgaria medical exams: http://travel.state.gov/pdf/medical/SOF-MED-BULG-0001-1003.pdf , found through the Department of State Medical Examination general information page
One of the Vita phone numbers is different; they are: 960-49-50 and 846-53-76 on the sheet from the embassy, but different from that on their website... use the first number and that should work
    “VITA” MULTIDISCIPLINARY HOSPITAL
    Telephones:
    +359 2 960-49-50; 960-49-51; 943-43-98
    Mobile - +359 888 991 003
    Fax: +359 2 944 13 43
    е-mail: vita@vita.bg ; office@vita.bg
Greenberg has moved to its own building, so everything has changed since 2009

The price list appears to be the same, though some of the vaccinations do not appear on the current list.
Other info appears to be the same. THREE passport-sized photos for the medical (plus two for the interview).

Thanks so much for posting your experience! And I'm glad to hear it all worked out in the end.
I hope it's OK that I added an excerpt about the passport and SS card to the wiki page for IR-2 visas. Of course edit it if you don't want all of that to appear there... I think we should make a wiki page for CCA info, as that topic comes up frequently. I don't have time to do it right now, but if you are interested that would be great. Also VJ could use a CRBA wiki page. That way this information is always available to future visitors without having to search through old threads (can you tell I'm a fan of the wiki?)

    That's the advice we followed^^^.
My husband has not been approved yet, but his interview is scheduled and we didn't receive any request for more evidence. I plan to send with him to his interview the giant file containing every single scrap that I saved from all of our applications over the last four years, just in case there are any questions about us actually being married. (I will breathe a sigh of relief when I can stop saving all of this stuff!)

Welcome! You answered your own questions - copies for USCIS/I-130 package, orignals or certified copies of the birth certificate for NVC/DS-230 package. Make sure the birth certificate is the "long form" showing both parents' names.
You will just send a photocopy of the passport, and bring the original to the interview.
Good luck to you for a speedy process!

SerenityNOW got a reaction from Harpa Timsah in Can I enter the US on a Tourist Visa, already married, and have a second ceremony in the USA?
This is an interesting question. I did the same - married abroad, and I intended to have a ceremony here in the U.S. as well, but never got around to that.
Anyway, I wondered about this topic. Here is something that talks about "secret" marriages, which yours/ours is not, but much the information it applies, as it discusses a 2nd public ceremony.
FYI I don't trust about.com as the ultimate source of accurate information, but re: some states allowing more than one license, the link above specifically references New York, and if you click through, you find that:
Other FYI, you don't *need* an American marriage certificate for anything here - I have used my Bulgarian one (with translation of course!) for Social Security name change, passport name change, American Airlines name change, etc etc and it has never been a problem.
I don't think you have to lie to anyone @ POE. I think it would be hard to avoid telling them your wife is a USC - but you guys live in India, right? Just as the others above have advised, bring lots of proof you aren't leaving there any time soon ... proof of housing and employment are ideal. Like someone else said, nothing is really "proof" though, so you just have to convince whomever is checking your information that you have no intention of staying in the U.S.
Hope it all works out whatever you do! (I really wish I had had a 2nd wedding ceremony with *my* family and friends...).

SerenityNOW got a reaction from beejay in USC to petition for her 2 minor kids
Hi! Your information from about a year ago is how I figured out that we would have to immigrate my stepson here (denied tourist visa - told he would never be granted one...)
Yes, I-130 + fee for each. Probably you can mail them together , as long as each set is clearly separate (I mailed both NVC packages in the same envelope and there were no problems). Since USCIS only requires copies, you should make sure each package stands alone and has all the required documents - the cases are not processed together and I have seen several that were approved at different times (Not sure how that works at NVC - if you can use the same original/certified copy documenst for multiple kids, also if they at least try to interview them on the same day... I would think yes). Definitely your wife should be the petitioner - so that when you get to the NVC stage, you will file an I-864W (waiver), which the kids over 14 will sign themselves. No supporting documents required for that. Though you do still have to pay the AOS fee ($88), and it counts for at least 2 people - someone mentioned recently that they thought it only covered two but I have no idea what the final verdict was on that. The 16-year-old will need a police certificate (my stepson had one issued that covered the 4 weeks that he was 16!).
I don't know what I-485 is (must be Adjustment of Status, if your wife came in on a K-1 or was already here when you married?). Anyway, not required. Your stepkids will immediately become citizens.
Join the stepkids thread here! Great bunch there. There are a couple of folks in there with situations like ours (USC spouse petitioner). Also check out the wiki about IR-2s and when you get to the NVC stage, most of the NVC info lies in a monthly thread in the IR-1/CR-1 forum (NOT the NVC forum). Good luck on speedy processing!!

Yeah, I had already added this fee to my budget ... I am spending a lot of time learning about all of this process for immigrating a child here, and I have gotten some completely incorrect information from immigration lawyers, so I appreciate your input. I definitely have no expertise in the realm of immigration, just relying on extensive research and the knowledgeable VJ folks.
I was speculating because it was odd to me that the USCIS information about the fee made a note of pointing out that: "Failure to pay does not affect the lawful status of the applicant. The applicant will have their passport stamped showing their lawful admission and permanent resident status..."
An actual plastic green card is not a requirement to apply for a passport for our situation -- per USCIS instructions for my stepson to apply for a passport, one of the items he can provide for the application (in addition to his birth certificate and proof of his father's citizenship) is: "The child's foreign passport showing the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Department of Homeland Security (USCIS) I-551 stamp in the passport".
Since we will apply for the U.S. passport as soon as he arrives, my stepson would probably have a U.S. passport in hand before any physical green card would even arrive (at least from my past experience, passports take less time than green cards do). Green cards are confiscated upon citizenship, so I was just wondering how this works... we would pay the fee, then the green card production request would immediately be cancelled with the passport application ... maybe. Or there will be a provision that we have to pay the Immigrant Fee before being approved for a passport (that scenario makes more sense to me) -- even though the fee is supposedly for the card itself, not to become a permanent resident. This new fee hasn't even been implemented yet, so I don't think that anyone has all the answers on how this will work, especially for this small group of people who fall under the Child Citizenship Act who are becoming LPRs and citizens simultaneously. Hopefully others ahead of me in the process will post their experiences.
In any event, I am not paying that fee until we are back in the States after the interview, so both that fee and the passport fee will be paid at approximately the same time, even though the payments are going different places. We will then find out whether that delays the passport production process.

Hi, fellow January 2012 filers -
We just sent my husband's N-400 yesterday. We were in no rush (he was eligible to send it since last July) but he could really use an American passport for work since Bulgaria and Romania have different entry requirements than the rest of the EU for many countries. So we are (or technically, he is) back in the USCIS games! Hopefully for the last time ever. Good luck to us all!

Interesting, that is what struck me as well. There was a debate about this before I filed in October. I went ahead and ordered the transcripts, but nobody knew if they were *necessary* or not.
To the OP - it seems like they are also hung up on the "for the period of your marriage" thing. Did you just send one page from your savings account? If so, it might help to get statements from every 4-6 months through the last couple of years, since your wife entered the country.
Yeah, I would think travel stuff is good, photos, joint membership to Costco or AAA or whatever other kooky couple-y things you can think of.
And affidavits - yeah, no SSN needed - go get 100 of them. Just kidding, but you might as well bombard them with more. That's what I have threatened to do if I get an RFE
Best of luck to you with rest of this fun ride!
