Same here , I didn't get anything back till now I am so frustrated . when I called them they siad that they already mailed me my NC  on Dec 11 , when I told them I didn't receive anything then they told me ok If you didn't get it by the end of February give us a call.

I finally got my certificate in the mail. I started to fill out the paperwork for a new one and that day it arrived. I have my fingers crossed for you and hope yours will also get to you soon. Good luck

OMG , that is so bad and unprofessional from their side, we are not alone, too many people have the same problem. I have a feeling they don't send anything back , they want people to apply for a replacement so they can collect more money. I am in a bad need for this certificate to apply for my daughter's passport, although I applied for both of us on the same day, but because they lost my naturalization certificate, my daughter didn't get her passport and they need more documents

Just thought I’d let you know I still haven’t got any documents back :( so depressing. I hope you got what you needed to get your daughters passport.

I am wondering whther you already got your certificate back or not, I haven't receieved mine and I called them they said they mailed it to me on Dec11, I told them I got nothing then they told me to check with USPS, how could I do that while there is no tracking number, because the document sent by regular mail as they alleged

I have not got mine back and they told me the same thing. I’m not sure what we are meant to do, I haven’t seen my certificate in months now.

I don't know what I will do. I'm currently not in need of a new job, just thinking ahead. My hope is that the social security offices will open up soon with vaccines coming out and I will go in person and not have to send the certificate through mail. I am in no need of a passport at the time so i will hold off on that.

Well it’s good that you are not in need of a job right now. If that changes and you need a job you could always pre warn that you just got your citizenship. Also tell them it’s not updated with social security yet due to COVID but supply them a copy off naturalization certificate. I agree if you can hold off for when the offices open up that would be ideal.  Let’s all hope we get the better of this pandemic soon, even with numbers  on the rise the vaccines give us the potential to get everything get back to a “normal” at least soonish.
    Good luck

Hi everyone, in need of some guidance/clarification. Since becoming a citizen I have yet to update my SSN. They are not allowing in-person appointments for that reason and me being me, I do not want to send my Certificate through mail. That being said, a SSA agent told be I really don't need to update the records right away unless I need benefits, however, here is my issue, if I apply for a new job and file the I-9 Form for Employment eligibility will that cause any issues? I have my Certificate as proof of US Citizenship but Social security records are not updated. I appreciate any assistance.

I can see why you wouldn’t want to send off your certificate. I am still waiting for mine to come back after getting a passport.  The social security office should be local and shouldn’t take long to process. If you do change your mind you can always send the certificate recorded so you have proof they actually received it.  As a precaution I have a photo copy of mine and that will help if you need a replacement or if you need info from it. So I don’t have much information on the I-9 but I do own a business and use the I-9 system to hire staff. So the answer is it depends on where the system pulls the information from. I think it could be a little tricky. I’m guessing it pulls info from the homeland security and not Social security. Homeland should have your updated info and have you as a citizen so If that’s the case you will most likely be fine but if it’s the other way around it might be an issue. Questions on the I-9 ... are you a citizen? Or lawful permanent resident? If your answer conflicts with the system you could have a problem as evidence also differs based on your answer. I also think personally as a employer if it came back with some kind of citizenship complication  I would work with the new employee to resolve the issue. I’m also not sure if they could deny your employment based on this. It’s just a possible complication that could be a pain and depending on the ethics of employer could be a problem. All in all If your looking for a job I think the best option would be to update your status by mailing the certificate.  I would make a copy and send it To SSA via a sign for method. I’d like to know what you finally do.  I have yet to send mine in to the SSA as I’m still waiting for my certificate back from the passport office.

Maybe someone else has some more promising info for you. I have limited knowledge of the working I-9 system.

  6. I’m just updating the post In case anyone else ends up having a similar issue regarding a lost certificate after applying for a passport.  I called the passport office again and was finally told the documents were sent out and then returned to them.  I’m not sure why this happened or why they didn’t send them out again.  Anyway now I’m hopeful I will actually receive them this time when they send them out.

I applied for the passport and asked the same thing at the post office. "What if..." she said that i will probably have to re-apply & pay for the replacement of the certification on my own... she did say that the passport can come in different package than the certificate... :(

May I ask how long did it take for you to receive the passport after you applied for it?

I applied on 9/1 and got my passport on 11/1  I’m gonna have to wait longer to see if my documents come back to me but I’m getting really anxious.

Have anyone here applied for a US passport at Oath Ceremony? Do they take your pictures there or you need to bring one?

At my Oath Ceremony we were only given an application for a U.S passport.  We were not given the opportunity to actually apply for one.  I was hopeful that I would of been able to apply the same day.  I even brought passport pictures incase I was going to be able to apply.

I hope you will have the ability to apply for one at your Oath Ceremony!

    one more question.

my egov says in-line for oath but the main account says 'your interview approved .. . ." when is it gonna synchronize

    or it never does?

Mine eventually synced up.  My.uscis website says “We scheduled your naturalization ceremony” and the egov says “Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed” as far as how long this took to happen I can’t remember. Hopefully someone else will have the answer.

Hey my folks its been a lot going on.  How long does the oath letter come take to come in as soon as notification is received?

From my experience and from what I have seen it varies drastically based on location. For me it took about 7 weeks to get the letter. I have seen some get it as quick as a week.  I started to get concerned when mine went over the 30 days they tell you it can take to get the letter.  As far as the letter coming after the notification online.  Mine took about 4-5 days but I did get the notification on a Friday afternoon so I had to wait over the weekend.

  11. Hi everyone, so I had my interview on 10/23/19 and was recommended for approval. I was then told the oath ceremony would probably be scheduled in the next few weeks.  It’s now been around 45 days with no update.  I’m not that worried about it. Should I be? I’m thinking they are just overwhelmed with the quantity of people needing the oath in my area along with holidays. @Atnabz have you had your oath yet?

I know it's tough, but don't get too wrapped around the axle with the estimated completion and wait times.

My wife had her interview on October 3rd, at least one month before she was supposed to hear anything.

She is now scheduled for the oath ceremony on November 18th (it took longer because she is processing a name change). That means she will be done with everything and become a US citizen on Nov 18th. However, her "estimated wait time" still says 2 months and "estimated completion time 3 months", a lot sooner than what is posted.

I agree although my case is not “complete” I have had my interview and I’m approved. My completion date is January 2020.  My oath ceremony hasn’t been scheduled but as far as I’m concerned I’m as good as done.

I had my interview this morning. It went pretty fast. In and out for like 10minutes. My appointment was actually 8:30, came there like 7:35am. She called my name 7:40ish and was done before 8:00am. The IO wasnt intimidating at all, she's sweet and didnt go thru my previous addresses much as she said my application is based on 3 year rule. Civic questions are: What does the judicial branch do? whats the name of the Vice President? Who is the governor of your state? Who is the representative of your state? Who signs bills to become laws? Who is the commander in chief?

    Goodluck everyone!

Congratulations!! I had my interview same day at the same service center just a few hours later.  Again congrats!

  14. I had my interview this morning, It took around 20 mins.  I was called back into a small room and asked to raise my right hand and agree tell the truth.  Then I was asked for my green card, passport and driver's licence.  Next I was asked 6 civics questions then read/write. We reviewed my application and asked for my select service document.  I was recommended for approval.

For those that have received their invitation letter, the documents requested are they typically generic that is the passport and green card or they request other stuff particular to your case?

I was asked to come with Selective Service Documents even though it  is  clearly currently showing in my documents tab cos I frontloaded a lot of documents

It looks like it might be generic.  On my letter I have a request for the same documents as you. I also uploaded my select service document but on my interview letter it requests to bring it.

  16. @erikavsw ugh that wait time is outrageous! Sorry you have to go though this I know I’d be pretty upset.  You have a lot of positives and it’s just a technical issue so at least you have knowledge that you have passed and you will have everything settled soon. Just keep a bright and positive mind you will get through this nonsense. You will have your happy ending complete soon. Good luck and keep us posted.
