  1. Hello Japan friends! I'm hoping to get a little information on what you all did in regards to the police report upload portion of the Civil Documents through CEAC. Obviously, I have to upload something or explain why I don't have one and will bring it to the interview sealed. Some sources say wait until the US Consulate tells you to get one before the interview. Some say get it during NVC and upload a scan of the sealed envelope with a note stating why it's sealed. Some say just say NOT AVALIABLE and explain that it will be brought to the interview. Some say they uploaded the sealed envelope and then were told that it wasn't necessary to upload via CEAC. Considering it takes 2 weeks to get one, I'd like to not sit around and wait if there's no reason to! This seems to be a uniquely Japanese problem so I'm hoping that we can pool a little bit of info here for myself and future applicants. Take care and thanks in advance!
  2. Did you submit the police certificate at this time? I thought we were supposed to wait until we have instructions to do some from the consulate. I guess I need to get on that, as it seems its part of the DS260 documents!
  3. Thank you again. I suppose it's easy to take on the responsibility of everyone else in this process. I'll tell him to fill the form out to the best of his ability and advise to include a statement claiming he didn't receive a 1099 if he in fact didn't. Thanks for all of the help!
  4. Thanks for the reply and sorry to drag you into this. He said he has never received a 1099. To get specific, he owns and hosts a server on an online game and charges users to use it's premium features. EDIT: He also buys cards in bulk and sells them via his own website. Is it possible that his accountant was able to file the schedules without having a 1099? According to schedule C, he made a profit of $956 in 2021. Sorry to ask such a tax specific question.
  5. Many who filed the I-129F have received NOA2. So far, it doesn't look like those who didn't file the 129F have received anything. Be sure to check out the timelines section of the site, as many people don't post on this thread.
  6. Stay strong! Remember that this will all be worth it! From what I understand some folks don't get a "processed" notification until the day before they are approved. Some people get it instantly. It's just part of this game... The I-129F is free to file and will only cost you time and the extremely low risk of "accidentally" being granted a K-3. Most of the info you need for the 129 is the same as what you've prepped for the 130, so it's not so bad! The decision to file is yours! Check the current trends and keep in mind those who filed 129F on this thread got a reply in about 7 months. If I was a gambling man, I'd say you have less than 7 months before your I-130 is looked at "normally". Take care of yourself and each other!
  7. I'm waiting for a reply from him now. The only issue I could see with not including it is that the 900 or so dollars is a part of the total income on the transcript as well as the fact that he filed the various schedules. Sorry to cause such a hassle!
  8. Thank you so much! Now things are getting a little interesting. I don't see a 1099 or any mention of it in the tax packet sent by his accountant. I'll ask him directly and see what's going on. I do know that the side job isn't a registered business.
  9. Just to clarify do we agree that this is what should be turned into the NVC along side the 864? Myself: US passport IRS transcript from 2021 Tax package from 2021 Explanation for lack of W-2 (I work abroad and am paid on Japanese Yen, hence my taxes say 0) Joint sponsor: Photocopy of US birth cert. Transcript from 2021 Tax package from 2021 W-2 from 2021 Some form of proof of self employment for 2021 6 months of current year pay stubs. Some form of proof of current self employment. In your opinion, will this do?
  10. Maybe I'll just upload the one year then. Thanks for all of the specific advice! Hopefully I won't run in anymore trouble!
  11. Thanks for the advice. I'll get some proof of the self employment ready. Did you also provide 3 years of documents or just the most recent? Also which pair of numbers should I be inserting for 24 a, b and c?
  12. Hello friends! First, I'm sorry to clog the site with yet another 864 question. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps out. I'm working on my joint sponsor's 864 with him and just wanted to make sure I'm doing this in the most effective way possible. I had to use a joint sponsor as I live abroad and am paid in JPY. Here's what we have prepared: 6 months of paystubs from normal job. (I figured this is best for 864 Part 6 Line 7 as his self-employed income isn't easily determined and he's well over the threshold with his normal job. I figure there's no need to over complicate I-864 line 7 with the burden of more proof and paperwork, but maybe I'm mistaken.) 3 years of IRS Transcripts 3 years of tax records. (Looks like he filled Schedule C,D, and SE as he is runs his own side gig, though not even close to his main source of income.) He makes around a $1000ish profit (as per Schedule D line 31) from the side gig and the remaining 50-ish thousand from his actual job. He's been employed at the real job for the past year, though his past 3 years of filing have still been well beyond the threshold. He's also younger so I figured that showing the last 3 years of transcripts wouldn't hurt. He is single and files accordingly. I think the whole self employed bit is causing me to overthink. Just to make sure I've got this right: I know that some folks have gotten RFEs for not including tax records (1040,W-2,etc etc.) along-side transcripts. I also know that folks have gotten RFEs for mismatched income numbers. I'm trying to strike a balance of providing enough info, as well as not providing so much that I could make a mistake. Here are the numbers that match: IRS Transcript TOTAL INCOME: 56,039 1040 Line 9: 56,039 Or IRS Transcript page 1, WAGES, SALARIES, TIPS, ETC: 54,750 1040 Line 1: 54,750 I've seen 1040 line 11 thrown around on the site and his says 55,956, but I can't see where that number would have come from on the IRS Transcript. I'm not sure I should even need to look that carefully. So finally my questions. 1. Part 6. Number 2. Should I include the self employment even though he is over the threshold with his normal job or is it better to just let it be? Would I need to provide proof of that self employment in addition to the 1040, schedules, etc? 2. Part 6, 24a,24b,24c. Which number should I be inserting if he is BOTH employed at a company and self employed (albeit hardly) 3. Is it safe to just use paystubs for his current job to calculate CURRENT income and ignore the side-gig as it doesn't disqualify him from being a sponsor. Sorry for the super lengthy post. I tried to be as detailed as possible. Thanks in advance!
  13. I can't link any specific threads at the moment due to work, but basically the idea is that when you file a 129F along side a 130, it essentially puts you in 2 different lines. The HOPE is that the 129F gets looked at first which leads the case worker to notice the I-130. At which point the HOPE is that the worker would go ahead and look at and approve the I-130 and deny the I-129 as you can't be approved for both. Hope that's clear.. it's still early here..
  14. Thank you! I'm not sure the exact day that I filed... Late June though! USCIS received it on July 6th!
  15. Forward progress is forward progress! How long did it take to get your welcome letter/account info? I just received an email called "introduction to document collection" giving tips on document uploading and claiming that I was recently notified that they are ready for me to begin uploading. Did you received your welcome letter via email or physical mail? I haven't gotten either
  16. Hello! First, I'd suggest checking out the progress reports side of the forums, they will have all the info you need to keep tabs on other folks' case. Also, some people (including myself) have recently had I-130 approved in the April 2022 filers thread. (I believe we all filed I-129s in addition, though) Anecdotally, things SEEM to be speeding up, but that's all just surface level evidence. It'll take time to see if there has actually been an increase in approval speed. Just stay as strong as you can. Progress will come. Good luck!
  17. NOA2 is here! I-130 approved. Same exact thing as everyone else. Went under review today and the I-130 came shortly after I believe. Still not sure if I-129 sped things up, but it definitely didn't hurt anything.
  18. Ah! That does make sense. Thanks for the clarity and for the speedy replies!
  19. Just a note, in case anyone is going back and reading this. Based on what I see on the USCIS site, the I-864A is only needed if you are using the sponsors spouse as a means to hit the 125% threshold. But then I see some conflicting info on the same page. For SOME sponsors: If you are using the income of people in your household or dependents to qualify, a separate Form I-864A for each person whose income you will use. However, an intending immigrant whose income is being used must complete Form I-864A only if their spouse and/or children are immigrating with them. "scroll down a bit" A separate Form I-864A for each household member using assets other than for the intending immigrant Taken from USCIS site. Maybe someone done with the NVC stage can weigh in. I plan on doing the I-864A just to be safe.
  20. Thanks for this list! We too don't have W-2s as we live abroad. I was planning on using translated pay stubs or a copy of my Japanese "W-2" Hopefully I can round all of this up today!
  21. Based on what I see. I'll need 2 i-864's (one for me and one for the joint sponsor) Tax records for both me and joint sponsor. And that's it I guess for now! Am I missing anything in particular? I'll prep those forms today.
  22. I need to go back and review what all is required. I've tried my best to avoid thinking about it for so long that I forgot! Thanks for the advice!
  23. Thanks for the info! Here's hoping I hear back soon and we all have a speedy time at NVC.
  24. I'm so happy for you! Did you ever get a notice for 129f being in active review? Mine still says (case received).
  25. That's awesome news! Was the I130 approved and the 129F denied? Congrats!
