  1. I have been looking into transferring the case to another country but it just feels like we're stuck because Pakistan passport is so weak it's so hard to get a long-term visa unless I guess you have alot of money or work in a certain field It's like we can't transfer case, the embassy doesn't approve expedites, no congressman can help, the embassy also rarely approves visiting USA on visit visa... I don't get it all.
  2. Hi everyone, I had a question regarding transferring a case to another embassy. Is it only possible if you have a long-term visa for another country (student visa, work visa)? Is it possible to transfer a case on a visit visa at all? My husband has close family in Sweden (his siblings are Swedish nationals) and we were wondering if it's possible to transfer to that embassy due to the large wait time for interviews for his country ( Pakistan 1.5 years after DQ for IR-1..) Thanks for the help!
  3. Can someone give insight to if that kind of lawsuit would actually benefit us or if it's mostly a scam? I feel we are in a vulnerable situation..
  4. It is a group lawsuit - due to the unreasonable delays in ISL embassy. It is unhumane what the embassy is doing.

  6. I don't think there will be many interview letters next two months bc of the holidays and political env in Pakistan. They will probably just focus on the Afghani cases and expedites.
  7. I feel so bad for the people who have kids too! Gosh it's so awful how we are all suffering and Islamabad embassy will never do anything to help it's own people and just doesn't care.
  8. I'm so sorry to hear that...It is causing so many problems in marriages because we are all waiting just to start life together. I can't even talk to people about this because no one understands and says "take this as a sign" or "enjoy living single life." I quit talking about this at all to anyone in family/friends because those were the responses I got and so many doubts develop and it's just so awful. No one understands how frustrating this whole process is except us unlucky people who got married last 1-3 years T_T. I'm sorry..
  9. It's ok if you don't feel comfortable answering, but what were things like at the actual embassy? Was it busy/was it mostly folks from Kabul embassy interviewing?
  10. Wow this is just too sad... how come Pakistan has to take on the brunt of Aghanistan's SIV cases and not other countries..This is just so messed up. I've been reading up on the SIV cases and I think there are so many ppl (hundreds thousands/millions) eligible for that.. and if all of those ppl are getting priority over us..It's really effecting my mental health. I might just wait the year and see and not look into this much it just gets more and more messed up honestly. Even lawyers, I know so many ppl who's cases got screwed up bc the lawyer didnt do all the paperwork right... but I do agree with everyone that we need a plan T_T
  11. Idk how we ended up in such an awful situation just to bring a citizens spouse over and move on with our lives. I know folks who did in from Islamabad in 2017/2018 that did it in a year! Praying for all of us.
  12. Yeah the financials are hard but I think it's a good idea! I have a feeling that the embassy will still only then schedule that specific case and not care about the others unfortunately bc Islamabad embassy seems so bad. I see online people are also switching embassys by work visa/student visa in other countries. I'm a 2022 dq so probably gotta get creative on what we can do, since it's only getting longer 😕 I don't even think theyll finish April/May 2021 by this year 😕
  13. Senators can't really help our cases, they come in handy for medical and humanitarian crises but can't do much for our situation. I really hope whoever has the extra money sues the embassy and that will probably be the only thing that causes them to change and fix this issue, otherwise not much we can do besides wait and pray.
  14. Very sad... looks like they barely covered a week so far T_T
  15. I know..I think alot of people are frustrated because instead of a year wait a few months before the wait just keeps on increasing to now 17-18 months I pray so much things improve for us
  16. Not yet :(. There is a FB group that started a petition regarding the wait for Islamabad embassy. https://docs.google.com/.../1JqCuhQwxrGy9bRASjfz4.../edit... https://www.facebook.com/groups/3244069115854059 I have signed as well. I think they need the US citizen's name and then folks are organizing a letter will be sent via lawyer from someone in the group but it just recently started and hopefully it brings attention to the issue!
  17. It seems they are only sending interview letters once a month and haven't even finished Feb 2021 yet 😕
  18. Yeah same, I'm planning on spending few months in Pakistan once the summer's over and we'll see from there 😕
  19. I'm not sure if it's true or not but on FB and other groups, they are saying Islamabad embassy has been given priority to Afghanistan cases (90%) and so that's why things are getting worse and worse. They will only catch up once the Afghanistan cases are done. Just so crazy and messed up.
  20. Yay Congratulations guys! You're almost done inshallah
  21. So I am not even DQ'd yet.. I'm seriously considering potentially looking at jobs in other other countries so we can transfer our case..because even that would be shorter than 1.5 years? Any thoughts? Is there any hope the backlog will be fixed because this is just straight up ridiculous and seems to be getting worse. Looking online alot of folks seem to be transferring there cases to other embassies (legally there of course, proof of residence and new phone number required I think) if they are from Nigeria or Pakistan (backlog countries)....idk anymore
  22. I agree, it definitely isn't right at all... I think even the Feb 2021 DQ are for interview dates in end of July 2022 ? So 7 months of the year are already kind of booked and we're only in Feb 2021 dq. I can't imagine the backlog getting fixed as quickly as people were hoping before and it's so not right. I just don't understand why USA just left Kabul folks basically without any resources at their embassy and now of course they're getting expedites due to humanitarian crisis etc. This is just an awful combination of ISL embassy being backlogged but USA not finishing what they started and just ditching them too. The embassy should then be given resources to handle only the Afghanistan cases separately or something.... 😕 Inshallah we'll be with our families soon and can only hope.
  23. I hope you hear something soon! it used to be they would send interview letters the beginning and the 15th of the month for ISL but now it just seems like things are getting longer. From my understanding of the facebook groups..alot of the interviews have been Afghanistan too. I hope they find a way to fix all these different circumstances 😕
  24. I know. I heard that some countries like Ghana, Nigeria, and Pakistan are all pretty behind. Hopefully things pick up to speed to normal timeframes soon...
