Yeah true, but if she was approved and paid fee, wouldnt that be done and dusted ?? And visa being sent via courier??

I vaguely remember a post here mentioning delays on getting their visa in the mail....went back about 6 pages and couldn't find through search etc.

Anyway my fiance had her interview 2 weeks ago and paid extra for the max 5 day courier fee...but no passport. We were pretty conservative and didn't book until she was approved and we've booked a flight about 30 days after the interview. Soooo...is this the normal thing that we've heard through the entire process? They say 5 bureaucratic days and that equals 15 normal days? She still has just over 2 weeks before the flight so we aren't panicking but we are scratching our heads about what is going on.

In addition, is it worth calling the extortion line to the embassy?

from what i have read i have seen two to three days via SMS Courier - maybe a phone call is in order to the "extortion line" lol - sorry that one made me chuff somewhat.

But I think 2 weeks is sorta out of the norm.........

That is just a guessestimate mate, who knows could be tomorrow could be six weeks, one thing i learned and yes i ranted up a storm here on VJ about this horrific process was that no matter what I said, no matter who I contacted (well at first lol) its in there hands and just keep checking ur USCIS to see for touches. Ours came on April Fools Day for the NOA2 - how appropriate eh?

I am signed up but they put it in the system yesterday. Then showed a touch today and thought since they got everything they would be done fairly quickly

I think ours was about two weeks later after three touches heck i cant see my timeline lol - but you will get the drift. Its there in the system and with an adjudicator so there is a blessing - just hang on cause once it is approved ~~~~~~~then there is a whole new area for you to explore....j/k wishing you only the best!

Keep in mind that once u file that K1 visa thats what she enters on - so you can NOT marry until she enters or gets the visa. Sorry reading quickly but I think you understand. You can not file the K3 after a K1 (I-129F) unless it lapses or withdrawn.

Yeah for sure. Now that brings up a question.....

If let's say May rolls around and the k1 visa is for some reason wrapped up in red tape, if I hit the 'withdrawal' button, is that an instant thing where I can get married in a month or 2 without complicating the k3 process that would start upon marraige??

I'm pretty confident about the k1 getting approved, as long as stuff doesn't get lost in the mail.

A couple of minor questions:

1) I'm in the process of selling my house, and I'm not sure what my next address will be. So on all the forms, my 'current address' will definitely change. Does that complicate anything?

2) I was a loan officer from 2003 to the middle of 2007, at which time I became a mortgage broker. When I made that switch, I went from being w2'd to 1099'd. So for 2007, half of my income shows on a w2, and the other half on a schedule C, with a bunch of deductions. I'm assuming that when I have to prove income, they go with the net profit on the schedule C, which won't be much. If I have to show assets, can I use a IRA rollover to prove them? If not & the income is questionable, who can I use as a co-sponsor? Immediate family or anyone who is willing?

Keep current addy on forms until it changes then there is a form you can submit to USCIS.

I am self employed, just watch that number on Scedule C - assets can be included also but x a certain percentage - co sponsor of course.

Now on throwing the switch, uggghhhh - you throw switch per se, if you can and then refile, you have just lost three to four months again.

I think your choice here is to decide to marry and go the IRI/CRI route and wait it out (which is not that much longer than an I129f anymore) and has more benefits to the visa or go with the I129F and bring her here on that visa. The threads can help you alot, just alot of reading and as some of my mates say, back to school. sigh

They are probably just putting it into the system - and ya know USCIS - give it a few weeks i think ours took a week to resume processing - also make sure u are signed up on USCIS and have email enabled to get update from CRIS

Yeah thats the typical language on the back of the form at the bottom, I guess they want you to take action when its them that are taking the action - go figurexxxxx Our case was different hun where we needed to supply a piece of paper but in your case it is for security clearance inshallah its quick (check pm)

Well I have this 1year B2 Visa attached on my passport and when I requested my fiance Visa I put my Fiance's apartment address as where I will be staying.

And I also had to write that my fiance has filled a petition for K1 Visa for me.

So now Im worried that if I tell immigration officer that I come to the states to Visit my friend or boyriend when I already have this B2 visa.(Which I dont really need cuz I could have just used VWP and get 3 months stay)

You should be ok, but call IRS and have them fax a copy thats what I did explain ur problem and they are pretty darn understanding, I never was so happy to speak with the Internal Revenue Service in my life - they will say the fax can take 48 hours but you should within two hours (Smiles)

You should be ok with those docs, but ya know sometimes having more than they ask is better - im sorry you are on the I129f so its a bit different but again, as we learned, better to have more than less. Dont worry hun you will be fine.

The letter from employer, paystubs etc should be good, my bad, but again, just trying to make sure they dont get a bug up their ####### with the economy sorta falling down right now and wanting your first born before your married.

Well I'm one of the few sad August complete dates that still has no appointment scheduled. The Dominican Embassy is taking 3-4 months now... I'm hoping that something works out for November, but if not it might be December. When should I start calling the NVC to find out if we have a NOV appt. I know they say the second week of the month, but dont they start early sometimes?

When you cal the automatic voice system, when it says case sent blah blah blah, then you will know you have that interview date - then you can call back if you wish and get a real live person and ask exactly what that interview date may be before getting it in the mail

Do you have to submit tax transcripts and stuff? I thought that was for self employed only. Reason I ask is because Tom is overseas and he said something about it'll be hard to get them.

You gotta show and back up what your saying so the tax transcripts are easy to get - you can call the IRS and get (if you need number and prompts pm me please) but they will be mailed to address on record me thinks!

Tax transcripts can be used in leiu of W-2's and 1040 - its just easier but for self employed yes on the transcripts since some of us dont have clients that issue 1099's for every job we do. That is my reason for the transcripts.
