  1. Agree, it is the RCMP that takes considerable time for what should be a trivial-and-quick thing.
  2. Thanks for the update. I'm quite interested in how long it takes to hit my mailbox. I hit the 2 week (halfway!) point as of tomorrow 😅
  3. Commissionaires estimated a 4 week wait for results.
  4. Went to Commissionaires in Scarborough. $60. This site has indicated 1 week, but inside the office, they indicated a 5 week wait, and the representative indicated 4. Been almost 2 weeks since visiting myself. Covid is apparently still slowing things.
  5. Just curious - did you use NEXUS and/or a NEXUS only crossing? I find the NEXUS only crossings, such as the Whirlpool Bridge, are staffed with easier-going agents...particularly compared to busier crossings like the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge.
  6. Apologies for the somewhat noob question...but can anyone clarify my assumptions/estimates based on the folks above? Submit application/docs + ~3 month wait time (estimation according to State Dept website of case review time) + ~2 month wait time for IL (interview letter) + ~2 months until interview? I've been intentionally delaying my NVC submission, to push the interview hopefully into winter/spring 2023. Yes, I know about the 1 year inactive case rule (PD around 2/1 for my case). Was planning on submitting final NVC docs and such by end of September...
  7. I called CBSA and asked this very question, as I just became a Canadian citizen. I was told without any ambiguity that I HAD TO USE MY CANADIAN PASSPORT for air-travel entry to Canada, no exceptions. Land travel is OK without the passport. In reality, I suspect it is a little bit of a gray area depending on which officer you get. Give CBSA a call and see what they say, and report back here.
  8. So in your experience, all you had to send were 3 years of returns? No RFE?
  9. Just wanted to get a feel for minimal acceptable evidence people have successfully used to get past the i864ez requirement. I've seen a lot of mixed answers out there, but for a simple/straightforward case (I think), I was planning to only send IRS return transcripts and W2's for the past 3 years, however, I'm wondering if the transcripts alone are enough. I don't want to send more information than is needed. Have any of you only sent 3 years of IRS return transcripts as evidence, and avoided RFE's? As the USC sponsor for my spouse, I have over the past 3 years: filed US taxes every year as married separately. maintained my US job while "temporarily abroad" in Canada, so I have W2's for every year of my working life. Employer still uses my lifelong US address, which shows on each W2. intend to list just my income as the support, no joint sponsors, or even relying on my spouse's income. never had any gaps in income. well above the income minimums. This is only sponsorship for my spouse - no other family. I'm not sure if there is any difference here being that this is going through the NVC vs. people adjusting status while in the US. Thanks!
  10. This should be the preferred answer. Unless you're considering renting your primary home in Canada, definitely sell it before officially landing in the USA.
