6months in Kenya. My husband just got a new one for our interview in February. Be aware, a friend in that sector of the government told us the normal wait for a PCC right now is two months. Might be the time to "grease some wheels" and/or use any connections you have if you don't have 2 months to wait.

Yes,  most validity period for common wealth countries is 6 months. Validity period for Department of State/NVC however is 2 yrs in general if not for Kenyans/Ugandans and/or foreigners living and working in Uganda like myself which per what I'm reading is valid for 1 yr and are scheduled to have their interviews in Nairobi.

  2. Just a quick question here to folks. I understand the PCC's  are valid for 2 yrs per State guidelines. However reading through the guideline sent to me in preparation towards my interview, the validity is capped at a year suggesting that any PCC submitted over a year has to be renewed. Is this situation peculiar to only Nairobi and therefore place- specific or across board? Shall appreciate anyone with experience regarding this issue as I'm left confused.

I'm not in any whatsapp group chats..I tried ombre before but the communication is too much for me and extremely confusing. I get periodic updates from a Facebook group and I log on to the website that gives monthly reports for all embassies. I have not been checking as often as life is very busy for me supporting 2 families solo. We are approaching 1 year from DQ this coming November. I'm just continuing to be patient for us to receive our IR1 IL. I come here to also check periodically for updates from this thread.

Got you, at times one needs just that to keep your sanity. Whole process is simply unbearable so even though an eye is needed to be kept open, at times it's worth keeping both shut. Lol

The difficult part of it all, seems like they are only giving out weeks worth of interviews, my brother and his wife were DQ Feb 26th and still have not received so Idk if they are going to start moving faster! It is all so freaking frustrating. I also saw on Forum someone who was Feb 8th did not receive, I was feb 3rd so I am thinking they only did up to Feb 7th, Idk what is going on with Nairobi they have gotten so much worse

@zahra1234...I must say your post has been extremely helpful. It does at least serves as a barometer for some of us to gauge where we stand in the queue towards an appointment for an interview. The whole process sucks to say the least. Please do continue to give us the heads up(updates)as and when you have them.

    Hi,

I wanted to give some information! I received my interview letter last month and we were DQ in Feb 2022 so it took 1 year and 4 months from DQ to interview letter

    Sorry this process is hard!

This process is incredibly slow and more slower with Nairobi specifically. I was DQ'd in August 22 which means there's still alot of waiting to do. Terrible

Try going back to read what I was addressing.  Thanks.

Yes i did get the import of what you were addressing @crazy cat. It stems from a question posed by a contributor as to whether the embassy in nairobi is working at all given, and you did well by providing those figures, suggesting that they are indeed working amid at a sloth pace. I have had the opportunity to compare figures/numbers including the issuance report for January (visa interviews conducted per post-country ) and the number of interviews conducted elsewhere as against Nairobi, is indeed  nothing to write home about. The backlog, i suppose cast across...and Nairobi should be doing way better than they're now. That was my point.

  7. So folks, on the follow up of this topic, the outcome has not been a pleasant one.My wait of 5 months, 2 weeks after Dq hoping to have an interview at the US consulate in Kampala/ Uganda has all been in vain. My case has been transferred to Nairobi and from every indication, it's a 1yr plus of wait as it's understood, Nairobi has a massive backlog of cases.

Quite interesting, @stellashir and at what time in between the changes was effected did you have the interview in Nairobi scheduled? Was the wait period lengthy?

What was the time frame within which all these changes occurred?

  10. Hi Folks,

So I have a case here that is a bit intriguing and some what confusing and would like anyone with a similar situation and experience to share.

I've been Documentarily qualified together with my two kids for the past 5 months and our interview location ostensibly, is the US Consulate in Kampala (Uganda) as scheduled by the NVC. However it's understood that most, if not all Immigrant Visas (IR-1/CR-1) interviews for Ugandans and foreign residents in Uganda (I'm a foreigner legally living and working in Uganda) are conducted in Nairobi-Kenya and not in Kampala-Uganda, as such, and rightly so, I'm wondering as to whether my case is headed to the right place for the interview.

Are there any persons here perhaps, who have had a similar situation specifically with the US Embassy in KAMPALA?. Similarly, is there anyone with such experience outside of UGANDA and how it played out?

Shall appreciate your inputs and experiences/suggestions.
