    Hi all,

I have my appointment next week at Visa medicals in London.  I have my patient summary care records which also details my vaccines (or lack of) but it's in my maiden name.  Is there any issue with this?  I can take proof of name change with me?

Also, for those who travel in from outside of London, where did you park?  I'm coming in from South Wales and wondered if it's best to park at a train station outside of London and train/tube in?

    Thanks

Hi, I would say definitely take proof of the name change and marriage certificate etc.

In terms of logistics, if you can, park in Westfield (Shepherd’s Bush) and then walk to the White City underground station and take the central line to Bond Street. The tube ride takes about 20mins according to Google Maps

Westfield is paid parking, I think it’s about £9 if you are there for 2-14hrs and about £6 if you are there for an hour.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the response. I just checked my status and it says "AT NVC". And yes I went at the embassy but could only managed to speak with the security.

We haven't been told by nvc to pay any fees yet or submit any documents. So can I complete the ds-160 form now?

Yeah go for it! It needs to be filled out by the beneficiary and it requires a digital passport photo. I think it takes about 90mins to complete if you have all the information to hand. Make sure keep the confirmation letter (print it/get an email copy for printing later) once complete.

Also maybe get the petitioner to raise a public enquiry to get some more information about your case.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html

I’ve attached a photo of the NVC shipping dates: the next CEAC statuses to expect are “in transit”, “ready” (when you petition has reached the embassy)

Also the embassy in Liberia might not know anything about your case, as it hasn’t reached them yet.

Might be worth joining the January approvals group if you haven’t already https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/794121-january-2023-k1-to-noa2-to-nvc-to-embassy/#comments

Good luck! I hope you get some movement soon!

My k1 visa case was transfer to NVC since January 2023, and I didn't officially get a welcome letter from nvc but I was given a case number and invoice ID through an email. Since then, I've not been instructed to pay any fees, and when I contacted NVC, they said that I'll be notified when my case is transfer to the US consulate in Liberia, and they also told me that the US Embassy in Liberia is temporarily closed, but I checked in with the embassy here and they said that they are fully operational. As it stands I'm confused and don't understand the entire process anymore, I'll be grateful if anyone in here can share their experience or offer knowledge on NVC timeline and process and what I should expect. Thanks

Hi @Mart_Cy, I empathise with you. This process is not easy at all. First thing I would advise is to check the CEAC status of your case: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx

you will need your case number here. Then fill out the DS-160 form asap. You will need the confirmation page for your consular interview.
Also start gathering the evidence you need for the process, as listed here.

Last question were you contacting the embassy in person or via public enquiry?

    Hi,
May I ask when was your NOA2 and when the NVC received your case? I got my NOA2 last week and trying to see when will the NVC receives my case.

Hi @Mr.So our NOA2 was 06th April. Not sure when they received our case, we asked the USCIS when they sent our petition to the NVC and they said that they sent it when it was approved. But I'm not sure if they are being entirely honest with us... Have you joined the May approval group? Sorry I don't know how to create the link for you here.

  5. Hi there, mine took about a month. Not sure if it is because there were THREE bank holidays in May, but I applied around 25 April and got it around 25th May. I’ve heard you can contact them via email  customer.services@acro.police.uk

if it is urgent , but I’ve never tried this. Good luck

This is for the nervous folk like me!

I recently had my medical examination in London at Visa Medicals. And it was no where near as bad as I thought it would be.

For context, gathering the necessary paperwork for this from my GP was a real pain. As I’m sure most of you have experienced. Despite having no ongoing or previous conditions, any history of mental illness, drug/alcohol issues or criminal past. My brain defaulted to the potential that I would be subject to extra scrutiny due to lack of medical history.

If this sounds like it could be you then let me tell you, that’s not the case.

I arrived in the afternoon. The lady behind the counter took all my medical summary, passport and police certificate to photocopy. She then gave me a more detailed questionnaire to fill out whilst I waited.

First up was my vaccinations, I had everything up to date aside from my hep b jab. A tip for those who haven’t their hep b jab, you only need one to pass the medical. This one jab costs £50. If you were to do the full course at say your GP or pharmacy, you’re looking at around £120-£150. Do with this information as you may!

I was then called in for my chest x-ray. All I had to do was remove my t shirt, stand up against the screen and then I was good to go.

Lastly I was called in to discuss my medical questionnaire with the practitioner. The lady I spoke with was really pleasant. She asked me about any previous medical issues and a few lifestyle questions. I then had a quick vision test before removing my top again to sit on the bed to be given the full MOT which included blood pressure, lymph node checks, heart beat checks and then a glance for any scaring. To which I had scares from an operation I had as a child which I’d disclosed.

She then took my blood whilst I laid on the bed.

After that she explained that my results will be sent to the embassy after 5 working days once they do all their checks. She explained that no news is good news. If anything needed to be followed up I’d be contacted in the next couple of days. But she said that glancing at my x-ray results that everything looked to be all good.

I then went back to the front desk to collect my passport and settle the tab. My total came to £430 (£380 for the medical + £50 for the hep b vaccination)

To anyone who was nervous about their upcoming medical, I can assure you that if you’re a cut and dry case like me then you have absolutely nothing to worry about! I hope this puts your minds at ease!

Feel free to shoot me any questions!

Thank you for providing such a comprehensive account of your experience. I wish you and your spouse all the best for the future. Other than immunisation records, what else does one need to get from their GP?

also was it quite easy to book an appointment in terms of availability at visa medicals?

  7. We decided to try and take the advice @PakistaniRussian gave the March NO2 approval group (see screenshot below), my fiancé phoned the USCIS today. We spoke to an agent who said they will request for our petition to be sent ASAP and gave us a request referral number. We were told that if we don't hear anything back within the next 30 days (🙁) we need to phone them back quoting the referral number. A bittersweet update, but maybe if enough of us do it they might move faster?

    USCIS approval was 2/21/23.

    NVC case # created 4/26/23.

In case anyone is wondering K1 visa applications do not get welcome letters from NVC from what I've found on the forums. They're transferred directly to the embassy on your case number. I had to email NVC inquiry to get my case #. Their response said:

You will be notified once this case is forwarded to the assigned US Embassy/Consulate General.

It'll go from At NVC > In Transit > Received (Embassy) > Ready (interview-ready).

Our interview will be handled at CDJ and I'm hearing that they have extremely long wait times to schedule interviews. I haven't been able to confirm that so maybe someone else has more information.

Congratulations on proceeding to the next step and thanks for the info! Apologies, but what does CDJ mean?
