  1. Assets alone can qualify. But its much better to have a job and income. I asked my lawyer about this since i was thinking about taking a year off and had over a mil in assets. He still said it was better to have a job but that it would more than likely be fine.
  2. From approval to green card showing up it only took 5 days. We actually didn’t even get the approval letter in the mail yet but we have a copy from the my USCIS case page. Beyond happy that it happened so fast
  3. Best way to go about this is having an address in the US and working remotely for a company. It's going to be really hard to find a job that pays 90-100k almost anyplace in South America outside of some cities in Brazil if you are a very good Software Engineer. Best of luck. During the pandemic I sold my apartment and used my parents address for tax purposes and worked from Colombia. You will need to look into the local laws and restrictions as it's not exactly legal in some places to be on a tourist visa and working for another company although it's common practice. Also be careful about becoming a tax resident.
  4. Hey, just wanted to give people an update or at least another point of data since it's hard to come by. We filed for AOS the end of January 2022 and just were approved last week without having to go in for an interview. Based on the timeline on here it says it's taking a year for the Denver field office to answer AOSs and the USCIS website says 80% are completed in 14 moths so we are really happy that went so fast. Glad to have gotten to this point as the Social Security service royally messed up and we weren't able to get a SSN even after following all of the warnings from others about waiting X time after you enter and so on. Really big thanks to everyone who has answered my questions along the way even if you didn't directly I heavily relied on this forum and others questions to try and make sure I had the most up to date information along with what USCIS posts which can sometimes be confusing and needs clarification. A few more things to take care of but not feeling like you are under house arrest and unable to leave the country to visit friends and family is a huge relief for both of us.
