Signed paperwork Took oath right at his office Interview took about 25 minutes He walked me out to the lobby where I waited for my certificate for about an hour I then went to the passport agency in downtown Seattle and applied for my passport.

Friends, I am happy to say that I am now a U.S. citizen!

I had my interview this morning at the Tukwila center. I didn't see any free parking, so I used the lot to the left of the building ($8). There were people queueing up near the entrance already, but I was told to proceed directly inside since my appointment was just about 15 mins away. The security line cleared pretty quickly (you will be asked to remove shoes, fyi) but the line where they check you in and take biometrics took about 10 mins. I got my ticket, proceeded upstairs, and waited another 10 minutes until my ticket number was called.

At this point an officer informed me that my interview would be conducted virtually. I was escorted to a cubicle, instructed to pull out my green card, ID, and passport, and put the rest of my belongings in a drawer. There were two iPads - one running Teams where I could see the officer who would be interviewing me, and another iPad mini which would be used for signing, reviewing docs etc. The headset I was given was extremely loose to the point where it would keep falling off if I tilted my head downwards! Anyway, the officer was friendly and polite; walked through my personal details to confirm them, and then proceeded to the civics test. I was asked the following (not in this order though):
What was the war fought between northern and southern states? Where is the Statue of Liberty? Name two holidays. Who was president during WWI? Name one state that borders Mexico. How many senators are there? I thought that was a fairly easy spread, and was glad I didn't get one of the others that sometimes trips me up. Next was the reading and writing comprehension. After that, the majority of the time was spent going over the application questions in detail (address, recent travel, spouse info, and all the Y/N questions). I found it strange that the officer was hesitant to allow me to retrieve my printed copy of the application to follow along. I guess they're trying to prevent you from reading the answers back to them and answering verbally from memory? Anyway, know that that can happen to you as well.

I carried my tax return summaries, marriage certificate etc. with me but was not asked for them at all. I was asked for proof of Selective Service registration since for some reason that question wasn't presented to me online but I verbally responded yes. Thankfully I anticipated that and took a printout of the letter.

After that, I reviewed the oath on the iPad, and was told that I was approved and that I would be taking the oath today. Proceeded to wait outside and got called into the oath ceremony within less than 10 mins.

All told, I was in and out of there in just over an hour.

Much thanks to all the users of this forum - your experiences have helped me more than you know. Tracker has already been updated :P. Good luck!

Finally, had my interview today! I submitted my n-400 form online on Aug 16, 2020.

My interview was scheduled for Jan3, 12:45 pm. I arrived at 12:15 pm. Waited in line outside, but it wasn't moving at all. At 12:30, I walked to the door and told the security guard I have an interview at 12:45 pm. He checked my letter and let me go in. Don't wait around in line if you are there for an interview. That is for those who came for biometrics.

I was checked in by 12:36pm, and was called in for the interview at around 1:20 pm. My IO was very friendly.

    Civics test questions:
What is the supreme law of the land? Who was president during WW1? What are two rights in the Declaration of Independence? How many amendments does the Constitution have? What are the two major political parties in the United States? Name two national U.S. holidays Fairly straight forward reading and writing test, after which she asked me questions about changes to my employment. The last job on my file was the 2020 presidential campaign which had obviously ended. Went quickly through the yes/no questions.

While we waited for some things to be completed she chatted with me. Asked if it was hard to not be able to vote while working on elections. I said no, because I got tens of thousands of people to vote, so I felt like I did everything I could. Finally I was asked to sign a document asking if anything had changed since my interview (marriage changes, criminal activity etc.) 2 mins ago, and then I took the oath with her.

Waited in the 1st floor lobby/waiting room for about 15 mins, and got my naturalization certificate at 2:08 pm. Almost over! Just need to apply for my US passport, mail in my voter registration form (coz I never got a DL 0_0 ) and update my status with the Social Security Administration.

I had my interview this morning in Denver. AND I GOT APPROVED AND HAD THE OATH CEREMONY AS WELL.  I can't tell you guys the emotions that are going through my mind and body at this moment. I kind of cried in front of the officer, and she was beaming.

Once I came out, I cried all the way home. I couldn't believe that we are done with this process and couldn't believe how arduous this whole journey had been. We cried, laughed and cried all the way back home today.  I was able to secure an appointment for a passport for Jan 5th. So, finally, we are done with the immigration process.

Thank you all for all the kind words and support. VJ has been a fantastic resource.

At least, they find out the issue and fixed it in the matter of few days.
Some people got their appointments, arrive for interviews, and learn from imm. officer or clerk, that their interview was be canceled, or system is down, so you need go back home and wait for another interview notice, another months.
Still, creepy christmas  “gift”, for sure.

Congrats! Now you just need to learn 100 civics questions, and especially remember who’s WA congress representative and senators. I’m glad you’ll learn their names not because of filing an congressional inquiry to uscis about your case, as you planned before.
    Good luck

    Hello VJers,

Just adding another post. Contacted USCIS today. They mentioned that I am in line for oath interview (which is what I see on the online tool, so not a lot of additional info). I got a nice rep and he did submit a Tier 2 request for me. Not sure if that will help, but at least helps my peace of mind to know I am taking ownership and doing whatever is in my power to MOVE.... THIS.... ALONG....!!!

So close to the finish line and in less than a month we move to a new address (same state, different county). I am waiting and waiting and hoping something happens before the move.

I'll keep you posted, and as always: each and everyone of you waiting are in my prayers.

Hello fellow friends in the waiting line! :) I just came back from the Tukwila office and I am a US citizen. :)
I'm an Aug 2020 filer based on marriage.
I arrived at the building about 20min before my scheduled time, they let me in. After security check, I waited in the check-in line where the staff checked my appointment notice, took a photo of me and took my finger prints.
The lobby on the 2nd floor was very busy, but I got called in only 5min past my scheduled time. The officer was very nice and thorough. I first did the reading test to read a sentence on a tablet. Then she asked me to write a sentence on the same tablet. Then we moved on to the civic test where I needed to answer 6 questions right out of 10.
Questions I remember are: Name one senator of WA state. How many senators are there? What's the name of the ocean on the east coast? What was the concern during the Cold War? How many justices are in the Supreme Court? We stopped at question #6 coz I got all of them correctly.
After the test, we moved on to more routine questions like where I live, where I work, etc. We spent some time talking about the trips I took outside of the US in the past few years.
And then we stood up to take the allegiance and I was officially a US citizen!

I did request a name change in my original application, but the officer said the Seattle office doesn't have the capability to do that, I'll have to get a court order on my own. She then updated my application to say "no name change request" and I received the certificate of citizenship with my original legal name.

Wish everyone here good luck! It will be your turn soon!

Hi All, I am new here.

I filed my N-400 online at Seattle on October 9th, 2019. My wife filed on the same day.

My wife got her interview scheduled in January 2021 and got her passport already.

My interview still hasn't been scheduled. Attached my case history below, not sure what does "invalid date" mean. I contacted USCIS regarding my case, and here's response:

"Your application is currently waiting to be scheduled for an interview at the Seattle Field Office.  Once an interview is scheduled, an interview notice will be mailed to your address of record. We regret that we are not able to give you a time frame for when you will be scheduled for an interview.   "

But my case has been in this status for almost a year. Not sure what else I can do to make any progress, or even if something went wrong with my case...

  21. Thanks

Both interviews happened back to back with a total amount of 45 minutes. Be patient and it's going to be your turn before you realize it. Best of luck to y'all!

July 2020 filer. I had my interview yesterday. Total time spent in interview was about 20-25 minutes. Total time the whole process took from the moment I walked inside to getting my certificate was  about 40 minutes. During the interview, they did not ask for any additional documents/evidence. They just took and kept my green card and looked through my passport. Even though I’m a lurker, I’d like to thank you all for your support!
