  1. Husband received his passport and visa today!

    DQ: October 26, 2020

    Interview Date: October 6, 2021

    Passport Returned: October 12, 2021

Intend to cross the border on Thursday!

Question!! I am unable to add him to our health insurance until November 1st.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a travel medical insurance that could bridge the gap from now until November 1st?

    Thank you!!

The wait inside the consulate was the most time consuming. It was almost an hour and a half to two hours just sitting. The interview itself being  less than five minutes. They asked original birth certificate for petitioner if I had it, but I only brought the copy but they didn't say anything about that.

The next day I checked the visa status and it was 'issued' so things are really moving along now! Best of luck to the next round of interviews!

The only thing I'm confused about it whether they needed my joint sponsor (I uploaded everything regarding that)

I was not asked a single question about them or their documents-does that mean we didn't need one since petitioner met the requirement to sponsor me?

Has anyone had an interview on October 6 and still not had their visa status changed??
    Starting to panic.

also just want to confirm this is where we go to check the status. https://ceac.state.gov/IV

Sorry, it took so long to get your approval. I can’t imagine being in that position. But so glad you got approved in the end. Congratulations and wish you a safe and happy crossing!

Congratulations! If you don’t mind me asking, why wasn’t it successful? I’m nervous about this.

I did mine last week, it indeed change to Telus Health.

It's in the KPMG building, which is surrounded by construction. Really hard to get it, you need to go in by the door from the inner courtyard. It took me 4 hours, and as of Sept 29, the x-rays are done all the way across town at their other clinic on du Boisé!

Good luck, it was a really long wait to get everything done for me. But at least I got my x-rays done there.

Oh my goodness gracious! What a disaster. Our medical is on September 29. Does that mean we are the first to do x rays across town??

  5. I am second guessing our booking of the medical exam.

I called the number from the website that lists the company as Medisys Corporate Health, but they said they moved from Sherbrooke Street and gave me an address at Maisonneuve Blvd. the confirmation email says for Telus Healthcare, not Medisys. The appointment is with Dr. Llana Galperin.

Has anyone done their medical in montreal lately? Does our appointment information sound correct to you?

    Hey!

I never had to register my visa appointment because they scheduled it for me as I was expedited. However, I made an account prior to receiving my IL and that prompted me to put in the Ds 260. I found it on that receipt/document you got after completing the DS 260. I believe it is the barcode number on the bottom right (The left barcode should be your MTL number)

    Thanks very much!!

Does anyone know if we are supposed to receive additional correspondence/email for the interview ?

I have received only an email from donotreply@usvisa-info.com stating the following:

You have successfully registered your immigrant visa appointment on this website.

You must print this instruction page and bring it with you, along with the appointment letter/email, to the Consular interview.

You must attend your consular interview at the date and time assigned to you in your appointment letter/email.

Before traveling to your consular appointment, please check the Department of State Visa Bulletin to confirm that your priority date is still current. If it is not, you will need to reschedule your appointment when the priority date becomes current to continue your case processing. This does not apply for K visas (Fiancé(e)/Spouse/Child), Boarding Foils and Returning Residents (SB1).

Then it has the interview date and time.

The part that confuses me is the line I made in red text, as I have only received this one email.

    Thanks in advance.

Mel, Where do you find the DS-260 number to register your immigrant visa appointment? -Kelley

So I’m now starting to full out pack. I plan to get my passport and leave ASAP I got a Christmas tree to put up. How to do I list the price of my items. Like value wise... bc upack says price sold at a garage sale. I get that but some things like half used nail polish or undies to me wouldn’t have a value once used. Or should I just put prices down for like my tv and things ppl would buy at a garage sale?

Just want to put it out there that I used tote scan labels and I exported to an excel spreadsheet and it made it went very smoothly. I used u-boxes. ToteScan Intelligent QR Labels for organizing & Storage (45 Unique Labels, 2.5"x3") https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LF3XPLJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QH7F7V5AXGF1JQ2BF0F8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

We are assuming the child entered on a Canadian passport, not clearly stated but most likely.

We are assuming US citizenship can be passed by the Mother, now most can but not sure we can be certain.

I was trying to explain why it is not so obvious, there is an assumption that CRBA would be the route and the child would enters as a US Citizen not as a Canadian visitor.

I had the baby in Canada, and came here to the states when she was 9 weeks old. I, mother, am a US Citizen by birth. Baby is a Canadian passport holder, and USA citizenship can be passed  by me.

This is not correct.  If the US citizen parent met the requirement to transmit citizenship, the baby was a US citizen from birth and will remain a US citizen, whether it is documented or not.  (There are some actions that cause the loss of US citizenship -- like going to war against the U S, but a baby can't commit any if them!)

You can submit the CRBA application from the US, but will still need to take the baby to the consulate/embassy when the CRBA interview is conducted.  Or, has been suggested, you can apply for a US passport here in the states.  Proof of legal entry is not usually asked for -- especially for Canadian passport holders.  The CRBA makes the passport process easier, but is not a requirement.  You still might want to apply for the CRBA, as it can serve the same purpose as a birth certificate for many things in the US (even though it is not, technically, a birth certificate) instead of always having to use a passport.

    Thank you!!

This is what I was concerned about- needing proof of legal entry. The baby is only 3 months old, and does have a Canadian passport.

The only thing I can think of is to try a different "Acceptance Facility" or somehow get an appointment at a DOS Passport Agency.

Technically only the following is needed: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/citizenship-evidence.html

    U.S. Citizenship at Birth

If you were born outside the United States and acquired U.S. citizenship through your U.S. citizen parent(s), please submit the following with your passport application:

    • Your foreign birth certificate listing your parent(s)
    • Your parent(s)’ evidence of U.S. citizenship
    • Your parents' marriage certificate, if applicable
    • A statement from your U.S. citizen parent(s) detailing all periods and places of their residence or physical presence in the United States and abroad before your birth.

I think this is the route I am going to go. I really appreciate your replies.

Have you tried the I-94 website? "Get Most Recent I-94" https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home It just asks for her name, DOB, passport number, and passport Country of Issuance.

Thank you for helping me. I checked the website and it told me the date of entry, states “arrival” and place of entry as “POR”. I clicked to view the I-94, and it says no record available. I assume this means she did not enter as a visitor, and doesn’t have a visitor record?

  13. That’s the thing! We crossed at a land entry and the CBP officer just took her passport and didn’t ask for anything else, or ask any questions. I checked her passport and there is no stamp, so I’m not sure how she entered. Now I don’t know how to proceed.

I tried to get her a passport, and they said she needs proof of legal entry. I am not sure how to obtain that, or what to do next.

  14. My husband is in the process of trying to get his IR-1 and green card. We are waiting for an appointment in Montreal for the interview. I just had a baby in Canada, but currently have her in the states with me.

My question: Can I file a consular record of birth abroad (CRBA) from the states, or does it have to be done in Canada?

Otherwise, what are my options for getting her USA passport and social security card?
