18 months after i got DQ, I guess people are still struggling because of the waiting queues that COVID created

Hello everyone, congrats for all who got their interviews, I have a question my wife is from Iraq and since the US embassy in Iraq is not conducting any immigration visa interviews, we have been transferred to Abu Dhabi my case was DQ in July 2020 but we haven't heard from the Abu Dhabi embassy yet, my question is, were you guys all residents of UAE? is there any one who have been transferred from Iraq and got their interview?

Sorry, for the late reply just been really busy.

We both went there on a visitor visa and scanned our passport to show we are there. It took us about 4-5 week to have our appointment set but it was set for 3 month ahead.  it basically took us about 5 month to get everything done.

We tried to expedite it, but got rejected. They told us if we come to UAE they will expedite it, so we did so.

It is unfair. Sadly Iraqis and Iranis have to deal with it currently
We went through Amman (transferred from Abu Dhabi) - horrible embassy, I don’t recommend it. In my personal ranking probably the second worse consular section currently right after Cairo.

I don’t think screenshots from a forum will do anything for you. Do you have the visit visa that you can travel to UAE if they schedule you? That will be your best supporting document.

Ankara currently only interviews residents of Turkey. Some Iraqis temporarily move to Turkey, acquire residency there, and then email the residence card to the embassy and NVC to request a transfer. A transfer while residing in Iraq won’t help you at all, unfortunately: https://tr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/

there have been cases where NVC issued a new DQ letter after transfer, however these are too rare to know if this actually does anything to the spot in line. Since Iraqis are skipped based on DQ date anyways I imagine it doesn’t have any impact but I have no data to back that up.

I know of some folks that have May 2020 DQ and are still waiting for IL in Abu Dhabi. While UAE residents with DQ in 2021 have gotten IL. It appears that NVC still schedules only UAE residents for interview. It’s tough for Iraqis to get a visit visa to UAE at the moment so if you have that, send a photo to NVC via public inquiry form and ask to be scheduled since your DQ is much older than the current DQ in line with NVC.

It is very dangerous in Baghdad right now. Since it has been two years I would recommend consulting with lawyer about writ of Mandamus.
I wish your wife the best and Inshallah she will be safe.
