Hello:
I have a question. What is the process for someone who has their 10-year green card but it expired 9 years ago? Is the renewal process going to be the same just like for any other green card renewal process or is it more complicated than that?
Thank you so much!

Congrats
How long after the medical did they issue the visa? What was the re medical procedure? How did you send the updated medical to embassy? Also how did you send the photographs?
Thank you
About 2.5 weeks after medicals were sent off, the visa was issued.
When you need to get your medical done again, you have to show the medical facility the print out of the email where the embassy stated that you need an updated medical. The medical facility will send off the medical reports themselves. Photos have to be sent off via courier.

Congrats pls can u tell me after how many days of your interview they sent you this email? My interview was on 30 march they gave me 221g refusal letter I courier the doc on 5 April how much time it takes to respond...pls anyone help
My husband was put in AP since March of 2020 after his interview. Then the pandemic hit and everything closed and slowed down.
They never asked us for any documents whatsoever after he was given the 221g form.
It wasn't until in Feb 2021, we emailed the embassy and finally they told us the case was in the final stages and they would need a new medical and visa photos. Then, about 2.5 weeks later, after many inquiries and emails and questions and after sending off the medical and visa photos, they finally issued the visa when we checked the visa status.
With your case, they might just need more documents from you that you did not have at the time of the interview and maybe then the case will move forward. I don't know the details of your case but that's what it seems to sound like.

Alhamdulillah! My husband got his visa issued today! After being in AP for a year since the interview, status shows issued!

We are just close to 13 months; one month short of yours, being in AP. Best option is to wait. Last resort would be to file a writ of Mandamus with the help of a lawyer. Of course, I don't know all the details of your case so.

Usually, I have read that if it goes from refused to administrative processing, it is a good sign. A step in the right direction, if you may. All the best!

That would be good news! My status has changed multiple times in March though so hopefully after they have reviewed the medical report and other such things, they will issue the visa soon. It has been a very long drawn out time for us!

Immigration Unit,
Consular Section, U.S. Embassy,
Islamabad, Pakistan
I received this email on March 4 2021 and submitted all at March 10 2021. My question is how much time take for case complete and this is good sign for visa issued?
Hey! I got the same exact email paragraph that reads, "We are glad to inform you.." except they asked for a new medical and visa photos. I got the email March 8th.
We sent off the medical and photos last week, beginning of the week. Our status still reads refused but it was last updated on March 22 though. The consulate was closed today due to the holiday in Pakistan.

I had the same question as you as my husband also needed to submit new medical and send in visa photos. For the visa photos, they prefer you send them thru their approved courier, American Express/FedEx. Hope this answers your question.

The embassy emailed us back after we put in an inquiry saying they need visa photos and a new medical. How do we go about getting the second medical exam? The embassy has my husband's passport. As far as the photos are concerned, how do we send those to the embassy. Any clue? I emailed them back and yet to get an answer.
-
No. Maybe I wasn't clear in my question. I will restate it.
I emailed the embassy asking what the status of the case is. In return, they replied that case is ready for further processing and they need the following two things; the visa photos and a medical. My question was is this a good sign? I have read a second medical exam usually means they are ready to issue the visa soon. I could be wrong. They have updated the case 3 times in the last 3 months. He has been in AP for over a year.
Sorry about the confusion. I'm just really worried about my husband's case.

Hello:
I have inquired with the embassy as my husband's case has been put on AP for a year now. They gave him a 221g slip and asked for no further documents. It wasn't until recently, after I sent them an email in the last week, did they send the following:
Dear Applicant / Petitioner,
We are glad to inform that our office is ready for further processing of the subject case and requires the following to be completed before the final review of the case for issuance of the visa.
1- Visa Photos (2*2, front view, white background, uncropped)
2- Medical Report from one of our embassy designated panel physician. For more information, see travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/interview/interview-prepare/medical-examination.html.)
What does this mean? I have emailed them back asking for more info but any of guys have any idea what they might say or how long before a visa will be issue? Will they ask for a second interview? Will they make us wait more? Please, any help will be appreciated.

Is anybody here from March 2020 interview and have been stuck in administrative processing? If so, any updates on your end?
-
So does refused to administrative processing mean they are looking at the case and soon going to approve the visa? I don't think I have quite fully understood the terminology yet.

Hello:
Has anybody visited the visa status check website and see that their case last updated was recently changed but it still shows refused? This is the second time they have updated the dates but it still showing refused. What does this mean? My husband had his interview in March of 2020 and we have yet to hear from the embassy regarding anything. He was put in administrative processing and given the 221g white paper on the day after his interview. It had the general requirements details portion hilighted but nothing else was told. They took his passport too. Anybody else in this situation, and if so, can you help us out? Thank you. I would greatly appreciated your input.
Process on Expired Green Card
in Bringing Family Members of Permanent Residents to America

So basically, their green card is considered "expired"? If that's the case, how does the person go about appealing that? To show that they did not really abandon their US residency.
