Long story short, my husband wants to go home to his country for a bit but we don't have his AP or Green card yet. I know that if he leaves without receiving either, we are abandoning the AOS application altogether. If in the future he wants to come again, does that mean we have to fill out the I-130 form and start all over? The weird thing would be that we have a marriage license from the US. Not sure if that would make a difference or not. Thank you.

If he leaves, just know the embassy will not make his case a priority to reissue a new visa. There’s a wife in one of my online groups who husband left the country before they approved his travel document. His visa expired so he has to make a new appointment to see a consular officer. The wife has been emailing and calling the embassy and they have yet to schedule her husband an appointment. I guess they feel like he was issued a visa once, so they are not going to push you ahead of others who have not been heard. To answer your question, no he will not have to do the entire process again. The I-131 has a section for those who are outside of the country. You just have to fill that part out and submit it to USCIS. So you can only guess how long that will take 😉

  2. Why on earth did he do that? It stated on the travel form that if you left out of the country before approval, USCIS will assume you abandoned the paperwork. I suggest that you re-file it and pay for it this time….noting that he is out of the country. Don’t know how long that will take, though, because they probably won’t make it a priority. Good lick

My husband was denied boarding yesterday at Heathrow Airport in the UK because of an expired Green Card that we thought he could travel on because of having an I-797 notice of Action for the I-751. He went back for 14 days to help with family.  I am not with him.

We have been married almost 5 years and have been waiting on the green card conditions to be removed. We got a requests for additional evidence in January 2022. Submitted all documentation on February 10th 2022. We've received four transfer notices and the latest is an email saying they are sending out a notice for date of interview.

We know understand that we should have applied for an Info Pass.

Everyone we've talked to at the airport said he should go to the US Embassy. He did that yesterday and was told they can't help him unless his been out of the country for more than a year.

Doe anyone know what steps need to be taken.

I spoke briefly to an attorney that said, gosh I hope he doesn't have to go through the whole visa process again!!

(this forum was so valuable during our K1 visa process, that I thought to reach out to the brain power here!)

  4. For married couples, they have sent out interview letters for those DQ’d in early March 2020. For fiancé’s, they just finished those whose NOA2 was the end of March 2020. My friend’s children have their interview next week and he filed for them early 2020. Hope that helps. The embassy is moving, but they are maintaining an extremely low volume of interviews because of this pandemic.

Hello everyone. Please, I stumbled upon this platform and it seems many people here have some great insight. I need some guidance about my fiancé's petition please. It has been finally submitted to the embassy in Ghana and the status says:

"Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment..." should we complete the DS 160 now and schedule the interview or the embassy will notify us first? Will they notify me or my fiancé..? And will this be email or mail? (We all know the mailing system in GH - sigh). It's been like this since the beginning of November...any tip is appreciated.

    Thank you!

Yes, you should do the DS-160 online. Then go to an authorized bank and pay the interview fee. The bank will give your fiancé a receipt. You use that receipt number to schedule your appointment. The embassy does not schedule fiance interviews….. you do it yourself

My wife entered the USA on March 5th 2020 as my fiancé K1,

15 days later everything was closed in NY, and pretty much nationwide, city clerk was closed, we couldn’t go to get married anywhere, later NY was accepting virtual marriage through the “project Cupid”, when I made the appointment they only have available for almost 2 months after, August 8th, which is already past 90 days timeline, we got married on that day,  I called USCIS yo explain the situation, they subject me to file the AOS anyway, well I was worry but I did, yesterday was her interview, the officer told us that we got married after 90 days and that’s a problem, he couldn’t make a decision and the case must continue to see if there is a waiver, that we have to wait for a notice in the mail, I explained the reason why we got married late, it was out of our control, he agreed but same conclusion,

also we have all in order, she is working paying taxes, never have an issue with the justice and we have a 2 months beautiful baby, I can’t believe we have to go through this for something we couldn’t prevented 😕

  7. It’s Nigeria…. Are home visits common? No, but they do happen. It’s impossible to say if you will get a visitor but don’t exclude the idea because it is apart of the process. As crazy as it may sound, they messaged me on Facebook Messenger…. Asking me the same questions…. How did you meet? How many times have you visited? How long did you stay? Two days later, the case was approved.

The embassy is done with the cases that are with them before closure of the embassy in March 2020. They have refused to take cases that are at the NVC. That is why there is a decline in May this year, they don't have any case to work on. They just don't care about spouses of U.S citizens and K1s

That is not accurate. There are still some in our groups whose interviews were scheduled for January but got canceled. Some are still waiting for interviews….

    Hello,

I have been looking at the K-1, CR-1, and IR-1 visa issuance in Accra comparing pre-COVID (Jan 2019-May 2019) to Jan 2021-May 2021 of this year. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/immigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-immigrant-visa-issuances.html and https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/nonimmigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-nonimmigrant-visa-issuances.html

      Jan-19 Jan-21 Feb-19 Feb-21 Mar-19 Mar-21 Apr-19 Apr-21 May-19 May-21
    K1 23 1 6 9 19 22 22 34 22 4
    CR1 109 2 66 5 78 6 68   67
    IR1 130 24 94 112 99 75 74 38 91 29

From looking at the numbers, it looks like K1 and CR1s picked up for awhile (Feb-April 2021) but CR1s have not. My question is what happened in May 2021? I realize this is limited information, but I wonder why there was a decline in May 2021 from Feb-April 2021? And why are CR-1 issuance been so low comparatively?

My K-1 visa has been at NVC since beginning of April 2020. I figure I was about 2 weeks away from having my application sent to the Accra consulate before they shutdown due to COVID. Has anyone had their visa application sent to the Accra consulate from NVC since they began resuming interviews on a limited basis? I'm purely speculating, but I wonder if that has anything to due with the decline in the May K-1s and other visa issuances.

The most recent visa approvals on VJ are from April 2021, so it is difficult to know what is happening and what months are being processed.

It would be interesting to hear other people's take on the recent visa issuance numbers or any other insights.

The CR1’s turned into IR1’s. The embassy in Ghana has not requested any family petitions from the NVC, so April and May 2020 folks are all still sitting at the NVC
